Following. Looking forward to your report.

I am fuzzy on texting. I have surf and stream for 1 device. My DH and I will share. We have Verizon. Can I text over wifi with my phone in airplane mode? If I text my DH while I'm on the wifi, will he receive the text? What are the text rates in that circumstance?

There's no time limit.
I must be mixing up my cruise lines concerning drink packages, lol. Please fill me in on the drink package rules. Can I order a double? Can you order a drink and a shot at the same time? I know there is no 15 a day limit, but certainly there must be some sort of controls. If you order a drink over the $13 limit, do they charge for the whole drink or just the difference?

Following along. I am a fan of your "live" posts. Can't wait to hear about Wonder. We are sailing on her early next year.

I'm assuming you can't get a double with the drink package and that you can't get two drinks at the same time. What is the time limit between drinks? Can you order an extra shot in a few minutes to enhance your drink? I'm not wanting to get toasted, I just can't handle all of the sweet stuff they seem to add to fill up your glass. My last cruise when I ordered a Cosmo, I got a syrupy bright red concoction more often than not. Yuck!

You can just go to the bar. If I am loosing on slots I will take a break and sit at the casino bar and people watch.
That is good news. On Carnival you have to be actively playing. That can make for some expensive "free" drinks.
-
Do you have to be actively playing (slots or tables) to get a drink or can you also walk up to the casino bar and order?

Following. Safe travels.

It should be an option, where those that want the printed copies can get them throughout the cruise - and others fine with just using the app can just view info there.
I'm in IT - and there are some things I still feel are easier to review printed than on my phone or laptop.
We like having a printed Cruise Compass to review at night for the next day. The app looks like it'll be great for scheduling things - but some info you want to see all together and not by scrolling through page after page.
This! I cruised on Mardi Gras recently and missed have a paper copy of activities. I am also in IT and live on my phone. Carnival did not provide paper copies in the cabins but had a supply at GS for those who wanted them. Problem solved....several hundred copies instead of several thousand.

The majority of my cruises have been on Carnival. Over the past 20 years, Carnival has declined in service and food quality in the MDR and buffet so we have been exploring other cruise lines. I would cruise on Vista in a heartbeat, though. It has great specialty restaurants at a reasonable price. JiJis is my favorite. The Havana Cabana experience is special. Explorer has the better itinerary IMHO. Magic is a bit dated.

My plan was to bring 2 bottles of bubbly 🍾on the ship and order a couple bottles of liquor for the room. I was hoping to supplement my drinking in the suite lounge 😁
I didn't know you could order liquor for the room! Where is that option listed?

Just got off the Harmony. Sodas, Beer and Wine (Bubbly) available 11-11. I'll call 5-8 Happy hour where you can order whatever you want.
Is bottle/can water also available all day?

Thanks everyone. Does the island tram have a large transition step up/down? I can go up/down a regular step or two, but a large one would be dicey for me. Wonder if I need to access the mobility golf carts, but don't want to have to wait for when/if it will pass or take a needed space from someone with a larger need.
-
Does the trolley just run from the ship to the island or does it take you around the whole island? Is it easy to hop on and off throughout the day? I had knee replacement and I can't do extended walking. Thanks.

Glad it was great for you. To clarify, you could work remotely if you wanted but you are not sure about VPNs?
ThxWe only used our phones. Didn't bring a laptop and didn't try to facetime. YouTube videos, Facebook, e-mail, websites all loaded rapidly. I only remember one day having slower response. We actually had a wifi repeater/extender in our cabin. I am not sure about the VPNs.

Hi again. We are on Oasis and loving it. Husband is able to work remote as easily as he did from our home. We are thinking we are going book Mardi Gras next. Maybe. How is the internet connection on MG? Is it as fast and reliable as Voom Surf and Stream. Any tips for using a VPN?
ThanksChristie
No help on the VPN, but we had the premium package on MG and it was great for us.

Just make it easy and bring cash.
What do you think is going to happen to it?
I grew up in Miami. Lots of people target tourists. We drive to cruises and extend our stays a few days before and after in hotels. Not all of the hotels we stay at have safes. I guess I'm just cautious with my hard earned cash. That's until I throw it away in a slot machine, lol.

No, they only charge that at the tables and I think at the cashier. The work around is to put the money on your card at the machine, then cash out and go to the window to get the cash
2 hours ago, Baowen said:On the Navigator you definitely get charged the 5% (unless you are prime and above) even when you put it on at the slot machine. I've been at the Casino multiple trips over the last 3 months and this is my experience.

This is the contradiction I was talking about. We are on Odyssey next month. Carnival and Princess allow you to charge your onboard account to download credit to slots with no surcharge and also allow you to pre-purchase OBC for use onboard which can be used on slots. We are thinking of transitioning to Royal and I like to gamble. Would love to have a definitive answer as I hate to carry a lot of cash and will not lose 5% off the top of the slot margin. Thanks.
-
I have searched and searched with no definitive answer. Simple question. If I charge my seapass at a slot to get funds downloaded to it, do I have to pay the 5% surcharge? I want to play with the money on the slot machine and not try to get cash for free to use elsewhere. I don't like to travel with too much cash and would rather charge to my onboard account. I am not a prime member and I don't play at the tables. If there is a 5% charge, then is there a way to fund OBC for yourself prior to the cruise to use for that purpose?
-
Following. On Allure in a few months.
-
Just want to be 100% sure....if you take money from your onboard account and load to a slot machine that there is no added surcharge. I hate to carry a lot of cash onboard and really hate paying for the option to lose money!

Not 100% sure but on oasis last week everything has gone to tap. So you dont insert a card, you simply tap it. So assuming you can tap one machine then go tap another. Right now its 800 pts for a free cruise and 1500 for premier. Good time to “buy” a free cruise cheap.
Going on Odyssey in a couple of weeks. I assume tap technology would be on this new ship. Will the tap work on a seapass in a clear pouch on a lanyard?

You might get OBC, but you are supposed to cancel at least 24 hrs out.
If I cancel 24 hours in advance am I guaranteed a full refund? I never saw any "rules" posted.
Edit: I am fine with OBC, just don't want to lose my money.

I thought I'd read it was open at Coco Cay. What about Labadee? Nassau? We are in port until 11 in Aruba. Will it open up a few hours before we leave?

I have a question about Labadee. I know there is a tram to take you to different areas once you get off the pier, but is there any transport for mobility challenged from the ship to the end of the pier?
