  1. I am already booked on the Sunshine Feb. 5 which unknown to me is a premier cruise. I will ask on the boards and check with Carnival before I book my next cruise. My dates and ports are flexible as we are retired. I try to avoid cruising during busy times and will also avoid the premier cruises so I can enjoy the casino more.

  2. I wish I had known that it was a premier cruise before I booked it. I would have avoided that date. Is there a list out there so that I can review it before my next booking? I'm glad that Carnival is treating it's players to some rewards, but it will be a problem for the other cruisers who want to have access to play and enjoy the casino, too.

  3. Is this sailing a Premier cruise? Does this mean that the casino will be extra busy? What should I expect as a regular casino patron? The casino is a big part of my cruise and I am concerned that it might not be as enjoyable. Please tell me what to expect. BTW....we are Platinum and I understand that Premier cruisers get FTTF privileges.

    Thanks for your time.

  4. Our cruise next month on the Dream will be our 19th Carnival cruise. We were going to try Cheers because of the reduced pricing on longer cruises. We compared pricing and our usual approach...order from Bon Voyage for the cabin and buy drinks out and about would actually have been cheaper but we wanted to give Cheers a try for the convenience. Now we won't be buying Cheers and will go back to our usual way of doing things. No big problem, BUT this is just one more thing that has turned us away from Carnival. Sure, Carnival is a business and has a right to change policies, but this one was only in effect for weeks and people were blindsided when they boarded. Love us or hate us, we are long time Carnival cruisers that have grown tired of accepting the changes we have encountered in the last several years. Food choices and quality are down. Drink and other onboard prices are up. I used to justify it....the booking prices are low and you have to expect cuts, but I am paying less for my upcoming Princess and Royal Caribbean cruises. I am sure we will cruise again on Carnival, but it won't be exclusively. I am just disappointed....again.
  5. Years ago we used to go to a place...Everything's Cool. It was a short walk from the port. It was down a street with shops and had a beach area. It had good food and even better drinks! We are returning in February and would like to go to a place like this. Please tell me there is someplace like Everything's Cool that we can go to!

    Thanks in advance,

  6. I cruise on Carnival once or twice a year. I have received and used my casino offers for several cruises in the last few years. They were not for free cruises but the rate beat anything else I qualify for including military discount. I spend a lot of time in the casino but am not really a high roller. I usually get the free drinks at some point during the cruise. I have heard of so many people getting offers but none for me. I wonder what the change is?

  7. Splurged on a GS on Sunshine for our 30th anniversary. Been in several OS on various ships and in GS on Fantasy class. I can't seem to find any pics or reviews on the Sunshine suites. The artist renditions look a bit sparse. Gone are the extra chairs, mirrored walls, special lighting and granite countertops. Is that true? Is there still an extra sink in the dressing area? Double sinks in the bath? I'm picturing a big cabin with the same furnishings as a balcony cabin and the only amenities are an extra closet and drawers. Hope I didn't waste my money.

    Thanks,

  8. Hi Dawn.

    I really need your help!

We're booked in 7299 on the Legend. We love big balconies. 8232 just came open. The balcony looks bigger and there's noone next to that cabin on one side.

I'm wondering which of the two you'd choose and why?

    Thanks so much.

    Hi 63galaxie,

I just posted to your other thread about the cabins. Bottom line is we prefer 7299. Let me know it you have any more questions.

  9. My wife and I are booked on the Carnival Pride next March. We want to book a category 9B cabin. According to my TA, the only ones currently available are 7299, 8235 and 8237. I know that more may become available later, as large TA's return unsold cabins to inventory.

I don't want to be on deck 8, amidships, because of the proximity to the Lido pool area. I think it might be too noisy.

According to the deck plans, which I know are not drawn to scale, 7299 is an irregular shape, but it appears to be even larger than the normal 9B cabins. Specifically, it looks wider. The only potential drawback is that it is behind a pair of elevators.

Being close to the elevators is both good and bad. Its good, because we won't have to walk far to get to one. It could be bad due to either the noise of the elevators themselves, or the rowdy passengers waiting to board the elevator.

Has anyone had one of these cabins? 7299 and 7301 appear to be very similar.

Any ideas? Should we avoid these cabins or are they unsung "diamonds in the rough"?

We have been in cabin 7299 on the Legend (and have it booked again for next year). We LOVED it. We didn't hear any elevator noise. We heard an occasional "loud talker" going down the hall, but really didn't hear any noise from those waiting to get on the elevators. I agree that deck 8 would be a second choice because of lido deck noise. (However, we have been in cabin 8232, that's the one with the really long balcony, and it really wasn't that bad.)

Cabin 7299 is as wide as an OS cabin. It has the special touches of the suites such as granite counters and special lighting. What it doesn't have compared to the suites is a separate dressing area. There is an extra closet, though. The bathroom is basically set up the same as a regular cabin. Cabin 7301 has a different layout, but is just as large and has the same extras. Sorry I don't have any photos loaded. Search on webshots and you will find some.

When we just booked our next Legend cruise, we thought about booking a suite but decided on 7299 again. Hope this helps.

  10. We will be in Tampa during the last week of stone crab season. We're hoping to have some of those tasty crab claws as they are our favorite. We are staying on Rocky Point. Can you recommend a restaurant(s) in that area that will have FRESH stone crabs and will I have to take out a loan to afford them? Thanks in advance!

  11. We are going on the Miracle on May 14th. We are driving from Alabama and have already booked the Chase Suites for 2 nights pre-cruise (May 12 & 13). We will park our car there to save on port parking costs. Here's the twist. DH came home tonight and says he will be going to MacDill AFB for a conference (May 9 -11). So...We will now travel on May 8th and stay in a hotel during the conference. Here are my questions. Is Chase Suites convenient to MacDill or do we need to book a hotel for the conference that is closer to the base and then move to Chase Suites afterwards? Are there nice hotels near MacDill, that will fall within the government rate? Since I'll be on my own during the day are there places close by to occupy my time? I haven't been to Tampa since my active duty days back in the 80's! Any help is greatly appreciated.
