  1. We just booked the Island Princess for an 18 Day Canada & Greenland cruise.  I have watched several vlogs but I have not been able to determine if there is a place that is open at night (like from 10pm to 1am) to get snacks or do you have to order room service?

  2.

@partybarbieThe forward ocean view with the sofa is what I was looking to book.  My DW and I would otherwise go crazy if we only had the bed and the desk chair to sit on for 18 days 😀.

It will include a small addition for insurance.

Again, this is my first time booking a Princess cruise.  I typically purchase my cruise insurance from a third party.  Am I required to get insurance from Princess?

  3. I am planning my first cruise with Princess and I need a little help with understanding the amenities associated with a mini suite.  I have been doing a few fake bookings on their site to understand how Princess works before reaching out to my TA.  If I book an inside room, a standard oceanview, or a balcony, I get the option to upgrade to a package (Princess Plus or Princess Premier).  However, when I book an OceanView Mini Suite (no balcony), there is no option for either package and the booking summary shows "Princess Standard" applied.  Does this mean that an internet and a drink package of some sort are included or does it mean that there is no package available for this option and I have to purchase each item separately?

BTW, I'm really looking forward to this 18 day Canada & Greenland cruise out of New York.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. We had our first cruise with MSC on the Meraviglia in April of this year.  We are not dining room folks, so all our meals were in the buffet.  We were quite pleased with our meals particularly since we had read so many discouraging reports about their food. We did 3 Royal Caribbean cruises(Anthem 1, Oasis 2) also this year and were much more disappointed in the Windjammer than the MSC buffet.

We are looking forward to our April 2024 cruise aboard the Meraviglia.  Always keep in mind that critiquing food is very subjective.

Having nothing better to do as the turkey is in the oven, I applied for shareholder OBC via email, attaching a copy of my brokerage statement.  The two cruises are for Apr/May 2024.   Here's the timeline:

12:55pm - sent email to Rccl

1:21pm - received auto reply that they received my email

    1:38pm - 28 Apr 2024 sailing OBC approved

    1:44pm - 12 May 2024 sailing OBC approved

WOW!  That was really, really fast.

Wow!  I was holding off on submitting my shareholder OBC request for my January cruise as I thought it was too far out.  I'm going to submit mine now.  Thanks for sharing!

  6. Another option is to RIP your DVDs to .mp4 files.  Then copy them to your tablet or  thumb drive.  You will need an HDMI cable and a cheap universal remote.

I just recently returned from a Celebrity Summit B2B to Greenland and Iceland where I was unsuccessful in getting my universal remote to change the input on the TV.  So we watched the movies on my tablet.  I did not think to disconnect the network cable from the TV.  Now I know and as G..I. Joe would say "and knowing is have the battle."

Having all my favorite movies available was great as we both got Covid on the second leg and had to quarantine for 7 days.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  7. I will be driving from Pittsburgh to the Embassy Suites in Elizabeth NJ the day before my May 23 cruise on the Anthem.  Usually, I stay at the Country Inn & Suites and take advantage of their Park, Sleep, & Cruise package but they were booked.  Therefore, this year I will be driving my car to the port.  I will be depending on my car's navigation system.  Is there any road construction that I should be aware of?   My greatest fear is missing a turn and ending up in the city 😀🙂😐😯😪

  8. DW and I sailed on the Grandeur for the first time August 2017. Having sailed on the larger ships, we were concerned about its size but once we were on board, we loved her. It is a great ship with unique qualities.

I enjoyed your review and agree with most all your points except that our experience with the late night dining was different. Every night, there were the standard snacks but they would also have 1 or 2 different items such as wings, meatballs, mac and cheese. It was great!

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

  9. DW and I were on her mid June of this year and she is in great shape! I am not sure when you plan to cruise on Oasis but she will be heading for dry dock in 2019 and will emerge even more awesome. You will not regret booking an Oasis of the Seas cruise. Happy sailing!

  10. When sailing on the Anthem, we always stay the Country Inn and Suites and take advantage of their stay, park, and cruise package. Parking at the port I believe is $19 or $20 per day. We park at the hotel and use the shuttle to and from the port which I believe is $17 per person each way. I am not sure of the length of your cruise so you can do the math to see which way works for you.

We did park at the port on our first cruise out of cape liberty. The hotel is not far from the port but it was a little confusing driving to it and I worried about making the wrong turn and ending up in NY - LOL Now, we just leave the driving to the shuttle driver and arrive less tense.

Enjoy your upcoming cruise. We are looking forward to our B2B on her in November.
