I agree with GUT's comment that the drive to the airport would take 30 minutes (if everything goes OK). The 16 minute estimate would be with absolutely no other traffic on the roads and obviously that doesn't happen, even in the middle of the night. Will you get there in time for a 10.45 flight? You should be OK if (as you said) you arrange to self-disembark. The earliest this will happen is after 7am. Allow 30 minutes for Immigration and Customs. There is usually a Taxi Marshall outside the terminal. When we have been short of time to make a flight, I go up to him with a smile and ask him to help us get a taxi quickly as we are running late to catch a flight. Within literally a couple of minutes, he has a taxi there for us. (By the way - no tip is required for this service:classic_biggrin:, just a "thank you".)

Aus Traveller and anyone else with lots of experience at this, would you say that the advice I was given "that taxis can be difficult to come by due to demand ” is incorrect, thank you

  3. I did this recently. Flight was 12.50pm. We took the option of RCI shuttle to airport as we were advised by many that taxis can be difficult to come by due to demand and we also had a lot of luggage. It took more than half an hour to the airport, once we hit the airport outskirts it was very congested and slow moving but we were there in more than enough time.

That seems excessively high for an 18 night cruise solo. Is it in a high season period in Japan or a particularly interesting itinerary?

Essentially if a cruise is well above my budget I don't book it, otherwise I use a FCC and have usually managed to get a price drop

    Good luck with your test.

How do you purchase the FCC and do you get a price drop because you have the FCC? Thanks.

The one i am looking at is Rome to Fort Lauderdale on November 2. 18 days  on Rotterdam.

There are a number of Transatlantic cruises on HAL, Princess ,Celebrity and just about every line.

I haven't definitely decided yet as there are interesting cruises from either Rome or Barcelona and i have been to Rome a number of times already.

My final decision will most probably be itinerary based. Celebrity have one that leaves from Barcelona and has 2 days in Lisbon which is very tempting.

    Thanks GCHAN

Awesome. We are also doing a similar cruise early next year.

We are thinking of doing a transatlantic from Rome next year with HAL. The cruise has a fair few ports in Europe and we will then see Disneyland and Las Vegas at the end of it.

If that doesn't happen we will do one of the many Australian or Asia cruises available

GCHAN what date is this Cruise please and where does it terminate? I've tried Google it but nothing coming up, Thank you

  7. The equivalent cabin on port side is E424, it is 4 up from us and is one of the angled balconies with the largest balcony, great pick!!

Thanks, I picked it when Cruise was first released after studying deck plans, but as I haven't sailed Princess before it's great to have your confirmation that I did good :D

And I'm really enjoying your posts, thanks for taking the time:D :D

  8. This is not an el cheapo post .... as yet. I was looking up the prices for the Celebrity Solstice cruise from Honolulu to Sydney on 1 October 2018.

The prices are anything but cheap at this stage, with lowest grade of unobstructed balcony sitting on $5501.

but ... there seems to be a lot of unsold balcony cabins - 63 in fact. I think this might be ripe for a major price drop in a while. I remember the Solstice got down to $130 AU per day for a balcony cabin either last year or the year before.

How did you know how many unsold balconies there were please?
