  1. We did this itinerary out of Galveston, and I honestly hadn't planned anything for Progresso. My husband and I took the kids into the pier for a little shopping, and then decided that we would take the free bus into town to see what it looked like. This was completely spur of the moment, we have previously discussed just going back to the boat. Once we got in to town, autoprogresso offered us discounts on the tour buses that were waiting at the bus stop. We ended up taking a bus ride around town for just a few dollars. I'm glad we went.

There is also a free beach in Progresso. It is just a few blocks walk from the bus terminal, a lot of people from my roll call went there. They had inexpensive massages, and a decent beach.

  2. There was an older gentleman cruising with his family on our most recent cruise. He carried balloons with him everywhere, and would make balloon animals for all of the kids while we waited for the elevator, or in line for food. It was really sweet, and every kid that I saw with a balloon animal (my son included) was so happy to have them. It was a little thing that spread so much joy.

  3. I wondered the same but the page you are referring to isn't the actual corporate site. The corporate site has a blue check mark to show it is the verified page for CCL.

You've got me there! I have so many scenarios in my mind of the beef between the two admins, and they are all hysterical [emoji23]

  4. I like to gossip, and hope someone can indulge me. The big social media site who shall remained unnamed has a roll call for the October 1, 2017 sailing. Apparently the corporate page sharing dry dock updates has requested that no photos are shared to that group. Anyone know why?

  5. We sailed on her out of Galveston in February. You probably don't see a lot of reviews for your itinerary because it is relatively new to Galveston.

We loved Valor. We were on deck 7, in a balcony. It was nice to have rooms above and below us. Our room was close to the aft elevator, so we were convenient to the buffet, pizza pirate, and aft pool.

  6. Carnival has made it abundantly clear that the Carnival arm of their corporation is all about families and family activities....and that children are welcomed and embraced. All of the latest ships (this decade) are about kids with the slides, rope course, camp Carnival, more "fast food" dining options.

Patrons who choose Carnival are well aware of this business scenario. Subsequently the elimination of adult pools seems to be the logical step in their progression. Also, pricing on Carnival (the lowest of all their lines) is attractive to families and presents them with a great opportunity for a family vacation.

People tend to forget that Carnival isn't a single line cruise choose. Holland America, Princess, Seabourn all offer more adult oriented cruises (Holland America is notable for catering to the over 50 sailor).

I think the grief of this for many is that the "cheap" or "affordable" cruise is no longer the "adult" experience it was in the past. Since there are other offerings that cater to "adult" within the scope of Carnival Corporation I think people are beating a dead horse on this one. It is up to the consumer to choose between lines, to choose what best reflects their life styles.

    100%this.

  7. My family sailed on Valor in February. Every time I was in the aft area, there was nobody in the pool. It is hard to make an area that is directly off of the buffet and includes Pizza Pirate an adult only area. These spaces are too public to effectively restrict kids from entering.

Before I have tables thrown at me, yes I have kids that I travel with and yes I did love the quiet that came with that part of the ship. I know that I can find other quiet places on board though.

If an adult only pool makes or breaks your vacation, it may be time to consider someone else. Carnival is a family line, it is going to cater to families.

  8. We are scheduled for April 8, 2018 and we're suspecting that we would be able to this year on the 8th, but I guess that's not likely if you guys in February can't yet. We had no problem with our last cruise, though we didn't book quite as far in advance (9 months, if I recall correctly). When my husband asked, he was told that we will be allowed to select 3 months from departure. I'm not convinced [emoji23]

Funnily, we booked a suite for a family member who paid in full at the same time. I was allowed to select her check in time. I can't get an answer whether that was a glitch, because she's a suite, or because she is PIF.

  9. We only sailed RCCL prior to our February CCL cruise, so I was accustomed to not having robes. I was quite surprised when we had them in our room on Valor last month. We were also delayed in departure due to fog (boo) so while some things were not quite right, the robes were in place. I bet he overlooked it for the OP in the hustle in the delayed changeover.
