  1. Is hot breakfast inc.in room service?know some have only continental,or just in PH cabins.on other lines.

See some ships have few bathroom with tub, do these go fast?

Can dining reservation be made online?

Is the library small,or good selection?sorry,no kindle for me.

  2. Trying to find info re this one for 2015.Seems to be offered only one time.Has it been done before or is this first?

Going on Riveriera in Dec.2014 and thought I d book onboard for discounts, like I just did for this one on my Oct.one.Cant beat the price, and for Australia NEED the biggest I can get,,,EXPENSIVE.Plus, will have to spring for business class upgrad, not sure WHAT tha t ll cost.

    Any details would really help.;)

  3. Rachael,thats the one I m looking at too.

Read about your DH,mine threw his 1 suit out, would have to just wear jacket and tie,and eat ot grill or la terraza, right?Or room service.

Not looking forward to flight, but must take business due my poor legs(boo hoo). Will be very expensive, but once in a lifetime. On my bucket list.

Was thinking of pacific islands, but for 3 hrs more can be in Australia.;)

  4. Can OBC be used for shore excursions?

On website, can t find price of shore excursions, just description. What do they generally run, approx.?Am I just missing it ?

Do you think formal dress codes may go to "optional"next yr.?Know this is a hot topic, but DH hates that(but WILL comply,IF FORCED).

Have any of you upgraded to business class, does it run hi er or same as on your own, same with pre cruise hotel? Also, can t find prices of hotels on web either.Hard to make choices when I seem to be missing prices.

Any detail will be helpful, love the itinerary but never been on SS before.

  5. since this air confusion is making me wonder whether I want to even attempt this cruise.Sounds awful, expensive and LONG so far.Whew.

Wonder if the Oceania deal better than trying to book yourself,so many questions.Need business class and cost of it all is starting to price my out of whole thing.Sad.

  6. am trying to decide whether to do this trip,or the Tahitia round trip one.

Concerned whether size of ship will hinder port tours, etc.Trying to compare between Marina,Regent, and Paul Gauguin.Or none of the above and somewhere else for Dec.2015.

Isnt cruising tough, so many places, so little time.haha.

    Help me make a decision,thanks.:)

  7. and it was not one of my favorites. The ship(forgot exact name)was new a few yrs.ago, but cabin smelled of sewage the whole time.Having been on river cruise boats before, I thought the food, service, amenities were below par. That being said, maybe it was a fluke,ea.ship in same line can be different.

But, I d try AMA or Scenic.Doing Scenic for northern France in 2015,put a hold already. They sell out,for specific cabins, very fast. Will be my first with them, but love the brochure and good itinerary, dates for us.AMA is one of my favorite, but didnt have the full balcony ship doing that itinerary. So will try Scenic in June 2014 .

But did love the river, ports, sights, etc. on cruise itself.Stayed extra pre and post in Paris and Nice.;)

  8. and will now have to research the details. Also found a Regent one that looks interesting.

How far in advance is it necessary to book? Will probably try a 7 nite and have 2 nites pre.

My DH is a little leary there will only be ocean activites and not into scuba, etc.More interested in island exc.

Also, sort of concerned about small PG ship with motion, then read the entertainment is so so.

The business class air is a must,so know it will be expensive. How much more on average? Good point about day room, never knew that.

Looking to meet Gardner McKay on Adventure in Paradise, haha.Remember that show?Shows my age, I m afraid.:)

  9. went to website and couldn t find any info re.shore exc.,etc.

Also, seems less expensive since air inc. and PG only from LA.

Then shore exc.too, not sure about tips, drinks, etc.there.But since I like the Mariner and know the cabins are great, along with room service hot breakfast(always a problem unless upgrade on many ships).

Wonder how soon these book up?Have a S.Caribean cruise already booked for next Dec.,so will be 2105 sometime.A little early, but so many seen to sell out in lo .cabin category.;)

  10. about which one to pick.It ll be for 2015,dates flexible.

Can you give a newbie SOME idea were to start? Is it better to book afew days in Tahiti before?Should you book air on own)?we usually do,but think only 1 airline right?

Ordered a brochure already. How far in advance must you reserve?

What one did you do first? Have been on Regent 3 times and hear its similar, right?

    HELP.

  11. Our cruise was at 75% occupancy and we were never able to get another in any of the restaurants. We were in a PH which we thought would make it easier and we were willing to share but simply could not get any additional reservations.

wonder about that.Tried with butler, calling, and showing up there. But NO.Maybe its becoming the policy(unwritten)or something.??

We could have ordered room service from these, but not eat there, odd?

  12. I look at the ports and what shore excursions available or on own. Then figure what time I ll return, try to avoid the nites we have very active plans and a late return to ship.We prefer to eat earlier(7 or so) ,this way we can relax and not have to rush.Even have had room service when tired and just not in mood after hectic day to even dress again,,eat in robe.

Seems most reserve them on sea days, and they tend to fill up first.

I do it as soon as available, last time we got earlier date to reserve and 2 times at ea.due to PH cabin.A nice perk.:)

  13. and LOVED it.One of my favorite so far, great ports and scenery.

Good food and pleasant crew.Cabin very nice(only french balcony).

NIce group of people, of all ages(but tends older on river cruises).

Stayed extra pre cruise time in Lisbon.

    Would go again.

Not at all the experience above with Viking.:)

  14. and brochure says "assisted" bikes ,guess with motor backup?

Did go on reg.bikes on AMA,as Rachael says.Nice, but seems to go sort of slowly if you have bikers that lag behind. Can go off on own,but afraid we d get lost in some places.;)

  15. Re. solo cruisers, have seen quite a few solo females in all age ranges. They fit in and have no problem meeting others, esp.since dining is open and you can ask to sit with large group and make friends that way.

Also, many cruises have solo gatherings before dinner. Then you can join some excursions and meet others.Age range varies, depends on itinerary but tends toward older crowd.

Now, dress is country club casual, but often women tend to dress up a little more for dinner.Really flexible, up to you.But not FORMAL dress per se.

Also, look under solo cruiser section here on CC and maybe more info re Oceania experience found there.

PS. on last cruise in Oct. an 86 yr old retired dr. joined us on many occasions(when he found out my DH was dr.)BUt he had a great time, even having to use a walker sometimes.

So read all you can, look at their website, get opinions here.

We love it.but also love Seabourn,Regent, etc. Good choices.:)
