  1. Thank you, that is what I was thinking, but wanted to be sure. It all sounds Greek to me... teehee🤣😂😅
  2. That is the exact surge protector we have bought for previous cruises and have loved to be able to charge electronics with it. On an European cruise will an adapter allow us to use this type of power strip with so many great charging stations on it? Sounds too good to be true.
  3. This may be a silly question, but having never traveled to Europe and having a CPAP machine, would I just bring an adapter to use for my extension cord? Then my CPAP would work fine through the extension cord?
  4. Yikes! That solidifies my choice to buy a European curling iron in Athens!
  5. My goodness thank you both. I definitely need to EMBRACE the culture! There I was assuming that Target was our Target. 🤪 Plus, I just discovered that we will arrive on May 1 - their Labor Day so all tourist attractions, museums, larger shops, etc. will be closed for the day. Thankfully restaurants are expected to be open and we are arriving a couple of days prior to our cruise. Girr thanks so much for the assist with stores and lisiamc thanks for getting me on the correct course! I am starting to look at the shopping as an adventure. 🤗
  6. Girr thank you very much for the explanation! Yes, the flat iron and curling iron are both for my hair. I did not "get" that the flat iron that they were talking about in the prohibited items meant the iron for your clothes. I thought it was odd because I know I had brought them on most if not all of the other four cruise lines that I have sailed with in the past. Whew! I will plan on buying one if not both for my hair at Target or somewhere similar when we arrive in Athens. And like Lew pointed out, worse case scenario, if they do confiscate it, I can use it for the 3 days prior and after. We are going on the new Sun Princess, so I am hopeful that their electrical can handle it.
  7. Thank you everyone for your replies. Lew I thought I read the list of prohibited items on Princess carefully, but sure enough, flat irons are on the list just over 1/2 way down! 😱 So even though there is a Target one block from our hotel when we arrive in Athens, I cannot buy one and bring it on the ship? It does not say anything about curling irons though. Maybe because they do not get as hot??
  8. I would like to bring my flat iron and curling iron to Athens for 3 days pre-cruise, on the Sun Princess for two weeks, and then to Rome for 3 days post-cruise. I do not see them on the prohibited list for Princess cruise line and have been able to use them just fine on RCCL, Norwegian, etc. in the past so I am assuming it is fine to bring them on the ship. My question is about using them in Europe. I know I need at least an adapter, but am wondering if I need a converter too. I looked carefully at both my flat iron and my curling iron and do not see a 120/220 type notation on the plug even though they are both less than five years old and a brand name. Will they need a converter?
  9. Thank you for all the details. It was helpful to hear your itinerary and I really like the idea about the cables. We will have to try that. I appreciate the reply from Fishboy too! We will be in Rome for three full days (counting the day we dock) so we want to be sure to make the most of our first time there.
  10. Thank you. I did email them last night as well. Jany did reply quickly as you and others have outlined which gives me great confidence! So while she said we can keep our luggage in the vehicle, it does "sound like" from you and her that the driver stays with the vehicle the entire time then since they are not an official guide. Is that correct? I am suspecting by the time we get off of a 14 day cruise that we will have a lot more than we started with 😁
  11. Hello, Thank you very much for your review of Rome in Limo. We were thinking of booking their Post Cruise Tour that you spoke about (along with the second one as well). I was wondering if you kept your luggage in the van for the day? If so, did the driver stay in the van so you felt it was secure? Also was there a suggested itinerary at all? Or were you able to request the places that you wanted to see during the 8 hours as long as you are dropped off at your hotel by the end of the 8 hours. Thank so much!
  12. I agree 100% - I just wanted to see his full name somewhere on his flight reservations. Unfortunately the "II" that is in the background in our Princess reservation does not automatically transfer to EZ Air. But after our Princess rep convinced her supervisor to let me speak with EZ Air (apparently that is a hard sell), EZ Air did cancel and rebook my husband's flight with the "II" on there. The "II" now shows up in various forms which makes me feel MUCH better. But I am very glad that I did not wait until 45 days out and see his tickets issued with the wrong name - which according to EZ Air is what would have happened. We then would have been stuck with a very large bill to pay the new flight fare.
  13. Oops, I meant to type, Unfortunately I am not the type of person that "could relax if his" plane ticket was not correct... I was dictating from my phone - sorry
  14. That is good. It is what Princess told me, but EZair told me we did need to have it correct. Have you flown internationally without the Junior on his ticket? Unfortunately, I do not think I am the type of person that could be black is this plane ticket was not correct especially after reading above about the guy without the III on his ticket and almost missing his flight home in Australia.
  15. Thought I would give what is hopefully a final update. I think I have resolved it as best I can. I called my BB TA today and she confirmed that he only had one Captains Circle number and she did indeed see the “II” at the end of his name on the Princess website (which confirms what Princess was telling me). She re-sent the TA confirmation page which has always had the correct name, which was useful since the price has increased $4,100 with the cost of the flights and said she would work on getting a confirmation from Princess for me. It took her about an hour, but I did receive a copy of the booking on Princess letterhead. So, I feel very good about not having to leave him at the dock in Athens 😊. We updated his United account, and he can now see both flights on his phone apps. I had my DH send me screen shots from his United and American Airline apps because they have either II or ii on there. Since they are not ticketed yet, I cannot see the correct name on the website. His correct name is on his frequent flyer accounts, but that does have a disclaimer that it is the reservation/ticketed name that counts and match the travel documents– as C130 noted that they had trouble with them not matching in Australia. United Airlines did ask me to upload his - and all of our passports for our transfer in Munich and it processed just fine. I have printed a hardcopy of the screenshots with his correct name and already have them in my folder to bring with me on the trip along with an electronic copy. I think moving forward we will take c130’s and Love2cruise77s advice and make his last name “Smith II” with no suffix. Thanks again everyone!
  16. Thank you everyone for your input. c130, it makes me glad that I am being proactive with this. He has always had everything matching. We even got TSA Known traveler numbers recently and those match correctly - along with the frequent flyer # at AA and United (we are flying one company there and the other home). After reading your comments, I think the problem is with my initial reservation with Princess and Love2Cruise77 has the correct idea if they cannot get it to work. I think that is what the first person that I worked with did. It may not be the "correct" way, but was indeed a workaround. And at this point I do not think that I will stress over "ii" vs "II" - as long as it is on there. But now, I am concerned about getting on the ship. I truly appreciate these boards and your advice!!
  17. Thank you everyone for your input- and empathy :). His DL, passport and the confirmation of the cruise booking from Costco all state his correct name - with the "II" at the end. (And no, I did not name my son III - haha) Although we have been on several cruises, this is the first time any of us have sailed Princess or been to Europe so thanks for the info on the personalizer. I checked as you suggested and his name did NOT have the II on there. So I think you are right - the error is that it is incorrect with Princess. I was starting to have suspicions but three different Princess people had "assured" me that it is on there, I think my first call will be to the bigbox store 😉 to find out what they can see. After more searching, we can now see all flights on the American App (Including the United/Lufthansa trip on the way over). On his phone, it does show his name with an ii after it. We have a message: Please book your trip. Contact your travel agent or booking source to pay for your trip. Which I presume is standard since they are a consolidator and goes back to the other issues that I have seen on the boards. So it does make me feel better that at least something close to an "II" is there. It matches his American Airlines "II". We have not flown United for many, many years so we are still investigating that. Thanks for confirming that I should be able to see it. The only thing worse than having trouble with the flights is having trouble getting on the ship!!! 😧
  18. This is a bit of a dilemma, but for the very short question - I am wondering if anyone else has had any issue with their suffixes (such as Jr., III, etc.) not showing up when booking with EZ Air. If so, were you able to fly just fine if it did not match your passport? Or was it a problem? Or does your suffix show up in your cruise booking where you can see it just fine and therefore it shows up when you book EZ Air and everything went just fine for you? Then that means that my Princess booking is an issue.. I have had a frustrating week attempting to book flights for my DH. The bad… my husband has a roman numeral two “II” at the end of his last name. The good is that I had a terrific Princess rep yesterday that stood by me and fought for me to be able to be connected to EZ Air. We booked our cruise in early July through Costco and the “II” was correctly added to his reservation. I called Princess about a week ago and carefully created his Captain’s Circle number and asked for the “II” to be added. According to three different people at Princess it is on his cruise reservation – but I still cannot see it on his Cruise actualizer. When I went to book EZ Air, the suffix did not show up there. After choosing your flights, EZ Air requires you check a box stating that you are 100% sure that the name matches your passport, etc. Since it had no suffix, I chose not to book our flights. I called the number listed on Wednesday, which was Princess CL, and spent 1 hour and 48 minutes talking to someone who kept putting me on hold but assured me that he could fix it. Finally, I saw an “Ii”. I explained that we needed it to be “II”. He put me on hold again and said that he fixed it, but it would take 24-48 hours to show up. I told him that I wanted to book our flights that night because the rates keep increasing. He said that if he did it, as opposed to me, that the “II” would show up, so we painstakingly did so. Well, yesterday, 48 hours later, and the suffix was still wrong. I called Princess and got a savvy CS agent who said that the person on Thursday simply added Ii to the last name of my DH, not in the suffix area which was wrong. She corrected that. But we could still not see it on the actualizer. We rebooked his flight again (4th time this week). However, she assured me that she has been taught that the II was in the EZ Air system and would be added once the flight was ticketed. I told her that even though she was the quickest and most helpful person that I had spoken to, I would feel much better if I could hear that directly from EZ Air or see that in writing. She spoke with her supervisor. Her supervisor reiterated that the suffix would appear on our tickets and did not want her to connect me to EZ Air. While waiting for her supervisor to get back with her, she was reading up on it and saw that “Suffixes are not needed on record unless two or more guests with identical names are traveling” but then said she saw that “EZ Air Agent will need to add suffix manually after air has been booked if customer insists”. She decided to PERSIST for me and finally received permission for me to be able to speak to EZ Air to receive confirmation that my DH would have the suffix added once his flight was ticketed. Now, one hour into the call, she transferred me and let me know that EZ Air and said that we SHOULD have the correct name on there prior to the booking and we need to cancel the flight and rebook. ARRGG!! But so happy that the CS Rep pushed for me!! Unfortunately, I got a newish EZ Air person. At first she said she would have to rebook the flight. And she said that the flight that the CS and I had just rebooked for $1398 on the same call suddenly jumped to $1556 and wanted permission to cancel the flight. I said no. She said that she would ask for permission to honor the price. She said that she could not get permission, but had cancelled the flight. I told her that I did NOT give her permission to do so. But okay, rebook it and I will pay for it. Then suddenly the flight back from Rome was no longer available for my DH… WHAT?? There were plenty of seats!! She then went on to say that American Airlines is updating on their computer at their facility. I then went to Princess website and could still book the entire flight just fine for $1398 – only the wrong name was still on there. Much longer story shortened. After TWO ¼ hours with the EZ Air rep on the phone, she rebuilt the flight for $1428. I don’t care about the $30, but my DH’s name was STILL showing up without the II on the Princess reservation. She said she talked to customer service and got the $30 reduction and would send me an email with the correct name on it. It would take 30 minutes to arrive. Well, an email did arrive last night with a PDF with mine and my son’s flight on it. The other record locater with my DH’s flight was not on the email. So not confirmation that his name is correct on their end. I went into our flights today and added our American Airlines and United Frequent Flyer #s and my son and I can see our flights on our phone and online. They would not accept my husband’s frequent flyer number and when I went into American Airlines and tried to match his record locater with his name, it would not allow it. So after 1 and 48 minutes on the phone Wednesday, 3 hours and 16 minutes yesterday and countless hours trying to reconcile our flight numbers, and rebooking my DH’s flight MULTIPLE times, I am still not sure if his name is correct. At this time my plan is on Monday, when I think there is a better chance to speak with a supervisor, I am going to ask again to speak to EZ Air and try to get to a knowledgeable person to see if his name is correct. If it were not for the fact that booking these flights elsewhere would cost us about $2000 more each person (trust me I have checked) I would give up. But these are good flight times for the price. If anyone has suggestions/ recommendations, please let me know. Thanks for allowing me to vent, this has definitely put a damper on the excitement of the cruise. I would much rather be planning our excursions…
  19. I have had my pharmacy fill my prescription early on my insurance for a vacation before. It is definitely worth asking - no harm in it.
  20. Hello, we will arrive in Athens three nights prior to our cruise - Wed, May 1 and our cruise leaves on Saturday, May 4. I have read a lot about Athens Gate and several other hotels in Platka. While the views are unquestionably beautiful, I am thinking we can eat at a rooftop restaurant for the veiw. Several You Tube videos suggest that Monastiraki might be more practical for walking around on the whole. But my true trust has always been my CCers! If we are okay with missing the nightly view, would Monastiraki make sense? Side note: I do not see that Athens Gate does has rooms available for 3 adults so the price would be double for us this trip if we stayed at that particular hotel.😔
