We have had luggage missing on several occasions mostly related to errors when we had a plane change on route.

I always have a clean outfit, underwear, socks and an extra pair of shoes in my carry-on. If going on a cruise, I would also include an appropriate outfit for dinner.

I went a week without my luggage once on an African Safari due to a mix-up with the tour company as to the description of the luggage and then once it was located, they had a hard time catching up to me.

So is it everyone's experience that the rules are enforced on the flights to Hong Kong. We will be flying from Guilin to HongKong on Dragonair. Just curious as to whether we have to worry about the 11 lb limit for the carry on.
