  1. By "Dueling Pianos" do you mean the two pianists performing at the Billboard 100 venue?

On the June 16 - 23rd Eurodam cruise, they were Rachael and Jake (if I remember correctly). I enjoyed their performances. They would have themed performances (Standards, Piano man, British Invasion, 80's) as well as a nightly set of requests. They enjoyed being challenged with requests...Jake pulled of a spot on performance of "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera.

  2. Just off the Eurodam. We docked about 5 miles outside of town and took the free cruise ship provided shuttle into town. Drop off was at the visitor's center/library. Took a bus out to Fortress of the Bear (5 miles outside of town) ($10pp for the shuttle and $10pp entrance fee). After about an hour took the shuttle back to town (skipped raptor center as we saw several eagles at the Fortress of the Bear). The shuttle driver told us that the main road is 14 miles long, so we covered 10 miles of it from the dock to town and out to Fortress of the Bear.

Spent time walking around town, St.Micheal's, the Bishop's house. Had perfect weather (68 degrees and sunny).

Shopped some and then headed back to the ship. This was our "super-chill" cruise, and Sitka didn't disappoint.

  3. If you fly in and stay at hotel near the port (there are a handful within walking distance), Uber/Lyft to/from the airport is about $50 each way including tip.(Might be a little less).

As far as cost trade-off between flying and driving...you can figure out the pure dollar cost difference.

Unless you can get a park and stay deal on a hotel, you'll pay almost $375 in parking at the port alone if you drive.

If the park and stay hotel will probably not be downtown New Orleans, so there will be transportation cost to and from the tourist areas and the port.

Figure out the pure $ costs and then figure in the intangibles (11.5 hours driving vs 3 hours flying), etc.

  4. I suppose we can :)

Would it seem odd to do that on a cruise though? Never been on one, so don't know what would be considered gauche and don't want to be "one of those passengers" people may look sideways at. LOL! :)

It was one of the top tips people had on a website for our trip to the Mayan Riviera years ago - bring your buba keg! :D

There will be those who look at you side ways no matter what you do...

And the majority will not care if you're drinking from fine crystal or a "Bubba Keg".

  5. Thanks but we are disembarking in the morning and flying out the same evening so won’t have a hotel.

Sometimes your Pre-Cruise Hotel will let you store your bags Post-Cruise even if you are not staying there Post-Cruise and only need to store bags for the day.

  6. We've used Blue Baja Los Cabos for our excursions (including Parasailing) when we've gone to Cabo. Eduardo Martinez is the owner. Email him and let him know what you want to do. He'll set you up. Prices are very reasonable.

  7. From the CCL FAQs - https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1138

The guest's credit card or debit card will be swiped at embarkation with an initial hold placed on file as a deposit; if the card is activated online, the initial hold will be placed on file on the day of embarkation:

    • 2 - 5 day cruise: $100 USD for each stateroom charged using the same credit card or debit card
    • 6 days or longer: $200 USD for each stateroom charged using the same credit card or debit card

  8. I just recently booked on NCL for a cruise sailing out of Seattle next year. I've searched the forums and can't figure out one random thing: can you walk up to the Pier on embarkation day?

We've only been on one cruise before (out of Fort Lauderdale) and took a taxi from the airport to the pier. I remember having to stop at a guard station to present documents and wasn't sure how all of that would work as a walk up.

The night before, we'll be staying at a hotel within a mile of the pier. We'll have our 15 month old daughter with us and I don't want to deal with ground transportation the day of (none of the shuttle services seem to pick-up at our hotel and Uber won't have a car seat). So, I was thinking that one of us could walk her in the stroller while the rest of the party takes a cab/Uber with the luggage.

Is this totally unheard of? I have to imagine there are others staying downtown the night before a cruise and then walking around the city before embarking... I just can't seem to find anyone mentioning it in a thread.

Yes, you can walk up to the pier (or at least the cruise terminal).

Google maps street view will give you a great idea of the cruise terminal setting.
