  1. Leaving for a 15 day on the Miracle in a couple weeks. Glad to see that we will get 5 bags each!  But I read somewhere that you need to send all your bags at the same time and I didn't think that was right. So I was wondering if that's the way it works or can I just send one or two a day for a few days as long as it's less than 5 for each of us? THANKS! Trying to plan out laundry so we don't need to pack as much.

  2. We received a similar offer. My husband qualifies for free drinks anywhere on the ship but I don't. Does anyone know how that would work if I wanted to purchase the Cheers program since you have to purchase it for everyone in your stateroom?

I'll probably still qualify for DOU on the first or second day so I guess it's not too big of a deal but it's really nice to be able to get a drink wherever you want.

  3. We find that we are less happy with the quality of food or the service in the Dining Room since American Table. I'm not sure if that's the reason but it's the only change I can think of.

On our 15 day Hawaiian cruise we ate in the MDR three times, the Steakhouse three times, and the rest at the Lido buffet.

We leave next week for an 8 day cruise and I expect we'll eat a large portion of our meals at the buffet.

  4.

When tipping a bartender or server extra by putting it on the receipt do they get the money themselves or does it go into a pool to be split by all those working that area that day? What about if you hand them cash ... does it go into their own pocket to does it go into a pool?

I've had at three servers tell me that the tip that is printed on the receipt goes into a pool. If you write in an additional tip or hand them cash, it goes directly to that server. I've never had a server say anything different than that.

  5. Used the free HOHO trolley about a month ago. It was great except a lot of people were just riding it around for sight-seeing and didn't hop off. We went to both forts and had to wait a bit for an available trolley but we finally were able to get to everywhere we wanted. Our last stop was Barrachinas and we ended up just walking back to the ship from there.

  6. I wouldn't try it. On our cruise from Miami a few weeks ago, customs kept stopping debarkation due to congestion in the port. If you were in the very first few self-assist decks to be called you were ok but they didn't even finish self-assist until around 11am. We were in the 2nd group of zone numbers to be called and we were finally called at 11:30... our flight was at 1:05!!! We made it to the gate just as they called FINAL BOARDING!! We had the gate personnel cheering us on as we ran onto the plane!

  7. Just back from Carnival Splendor and we had the Comfort Matters form. It did not have a box to check both so I checked Morning and Turn down.

I thought the "Both" service was a bit spotty. Sometimes the bed was turned down, sometimes not. The towel animal showed up whenever it wanted, morning or evening. We did get our Fun Times every night, although a few times it was just left in the mailbox. The room was cleaned and the towels were changed daily.

I requested robes which I never got. I also wrote in Ice which WAS filled twice a day.

The little nit picky stuff did not make or break my cruise and our steward was very friendly and kept the room clean.

  8. Condensation on glasses can be dealt with using coasters or cocktail napkins. ;)

The problem with silverware directly on the table of a mass market cruise ship is there are thousands of people using those dining room tables every year.

And if previous posts are correct, fewer staff (due to cutbacks)may not be able to thoroughly disinfect the tabletops between passengers. Which is where asking for an extra napkin comes in: Use one as a place mat and one for the lap. :)

And yet no one mentions the thousands of people who have used the same silverware! LOL

  9. It's not worth it for us. Have never had much of a wait getting on. We're in the 11-1130 check in time for Saturday and the only carry on we have is my purse. Not a big deal to carry around. No tender ports.

On our last cruise I used Guest Service a few times but if there was a line I could wait until later. I went when there was no line and I was next. Actually one time I was being waited on and someone with FTTF came into line and had to wait until Guest Services was done with me.

I can see that there are some people who would really benefit from it, especially with elderly or disabled or children, but it's not worth it for us. And on my next new booking I will be Platinum so I guess it won't matter at that point.

  10. No, I don't use a tablecloth at home except for holidays and most of the restaurants I go to do not use tablecloths. But in my opinion tablecloths are special. It's not going to make or break my cruise experience but it will help my cruise experience feel special. I like tablecloths in the MDR.

  11. We saw a guy sitting near us on Elegant night wearing sweatpants so I think you should be fine. There were several others not really dressed up but the guy in the sweatpants stood out to me.

If you're really concerned about packing enough clothes, the ships have a laundry room. We used one on our Hawaii cruise on the Miracle this January. It was $3 per load for wash or dry. Our cruise was 15 days. We packed a little over a week's worth and did a load of laundry about halfway through.

  12. I have never heard that this was ever allowed. this was always considered sharing and against the rules.

On our Dream cruise (don't remember which year but it's in my signature -2013 apparently) we wanted to buy drinks for some new friends and were willing to pay for them. The bar waiter said no, don't pay. "That's what Cheers is for". She brought them drinks on our Cheers account.

  13. On our last cruise we bought the Oakheart rum with diet Coke to have on the balcony. Already have it ordered for the next cruise. So much more convenient than ordering room service or bringing it back to the room one drink at a time.

The cruise after that in June we have an inside cabin so we won't bother with ordering anything. I really like having it for a balcony cabin though.

  14. In the past I have actually ordered the Crabcake, the Onion Soup, and the Tomato and Mozzarella Salad with no problem. I can't eat as much as I used to and have trouble finishing my steak so I only order two of them now! I still have trouble finishing my steak! LOL

And to answer your question, sometimes I skip the salad and order two appetizers. Never had a problem.
