  1. We've been to the steakhouse four times on three different ships. I always order an appetizer (usually crab cake), French onion soup, and the tomato & mozzarella salad. I never realized we were only supposed to order one app. No one ever said anything or even gave us a look like we were doing anything wrong. Of course with all that I can barely finish my steak and have been known to skip the dessert.

  2. I've been wondering what the smoking areas on the Miracle are like now. I don't smoke but my hubby does. He tried quitting a few months ago and made it 20 days. He may try again before our cruise but I'm not holding my breath! Haha!

Anyway, I expect he'll be wanting to find the smoking areas and I hope they are comfy because I will be joining him.

Also I've heard that the 2nd floor of the nightclub is smoking but I can't say that we've ever stepped foot in the nightclubs before. Anyone know if that's a good indoor spot? We'll spend lots of time in the casino but it would be nice to have other options.

  3. On my last cruise I got the card on the 2nd day plus came home with $250 more than I started with. Also was offered a bounce back cruise for $100 total for 2 people plus $100 OBC so... Free.

Had the bounce back cruise booked but my dad was put in hospice 2 days before we left so we had to cancel. Hoping I get another bounce back opportunity on our upcoming cruise.

  4. Told my accountant that I wanted to buy 100 shares of Carnival stock but didn't mention the stock symbol. He called me back to discuss CUK stock which I'd never heard of. It looks like it's also Carnival stock but I'm used to seeing CCL. The values and dividends are a little different but the descriptions look the same.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is? And will Carnival accept CUK stock for OBC?

  5. Don't miss Chop Sticks--the Asian place on lido deck. The food is superb. The same is true of the Deli sandwich shop.

    Enjoy

Can you tell me what hours Chopsticks is open? I seem to remember seeing it the last time I was on the Miracle but we never got to try it because every time we went past it was closed. We're on a 15 day cruise this time so I think there's a good chance we'll be able to try it at least once or twice! :)

  6. We usually choose our cruises by the price, port, and itinerary. We like to try out different ships but would love to go on the Liberty again. It's my favorite ship so far; I just love the decor!

Next January we will be going on the Miracle for the second time (chosen for itinerary). This will be our first time to repeat a ship.

We were supposed to cruise this past January which would have been our second time on the Liberty (chosen for price). Had to cancel two days before sailing because my dad was admitted to hospice.

  7. Our entire next cruise is a major Splurge! Flying across the country to take a 15 day cruise to Hawaii, and our first time in a balcony. Probably buying a bunch of shore excursions, drink as much as we want (but not doing Cheers), Steakhouse at least twice, and who knows what else. But it's our honeymoon so we plan on Splurging!

    Normally we...

Splurge - Casino, steakhouse, Cheers, hotel the night before embarkation, a couple of Carnival excursions.

Scrimp - Inside cabin, sometimes we just walk around the port instead of buying shore excursions, cash in Credit card points for OBC (I don't carry a balance and I don't buy things I wouldn't be buying anyway), no Bingo or art or jewelry.

And no FTTF (don't know that I'd really call that a Scrimp since I'd never get it anyway, but if I DID get it, it would definitely be a Splurge that I don't need.)

  8. We generally enjoyed our table mates until the last time, 3 cruises ago.

We missed three nights in the MDR... the 1st for our Steakhouse reservation, 2nd because we were tired and ended up at the Lido buffet because we woke up late from a nap, and 3rd because the Casino comped us another night in the Steakhouse. Every time we missed a night we were grilled the next day at our table in the MDR, ended up feeling like outcasts because everyone else was yucking it up and we didn't get the joke.

We've enjoyed YTD and a table for 2 ever since.

  9. I never realized it before, but I guess I've been getting TWO appetizers every time I'm at the steak house, and hubby does too!

I usually get the crab cake, onion soup, tomato salad. Then either filet or rib-eye with mashed potatoes. And we share one dessert. It's usually too much for me but hubby is a big eater and most of the time will finish off what I can't.

  10. We had 11 on the Fantasy but we had to get it changed with the Maitre D. Even though our bookings were connected, originally we had 9 at our table and 2 at a different table in a DIFFERENT dining room!! We were told our table would only hold 10 but we insisted and they found room for all 11 of us.

There were only 2 nights that everyone dined together. The only guys (my friend's sons) were more interested in the buffet for dinner.

  11. I have a really nice digital camera that is too big to carry around normally but I usually bring it for special photos. My go-to camera is a point & click that fits in my pocket. And I also bring a waterproof camera for excursions.

My phone stays turned off in the safe during the whole cruise.

  12. I notice everyone talking about the Verizon gift cards being delivered. Last year I purchased 2-$500 gift cards with Verizon Rewards and they were emailed to me and I just printed them out. Has there been a change since I bought them last year? Is there an option to print them? I'm hoping to get a couple before my cruise in January.

  13. Our next cruise is 15 days long. Does anyone know if we will still have to get 1500 points to get the Drinks On Us or will it be more because it's a longer cruise?

    Thanks!

  14. I can't see us ever getting it.

We've never really had to wait to board, usually get through the lines in about 30 minutes. The only thing we carry on is my purse with necessities, not really a big deal to carry around.

Rarely use guest services but if I need to use them and they have a line, I will wait at the Lobby Bar until the line goes down.

Might consider it for tenders if I have an early private excursion booked, but we usually aren't in a hurry to be the first off the ship. Not in a hurry for debarkation either; they seem to take early flights into consideration when calling zones.

  15. I would choose the Liberty too. Had a cruise planned on her for last January but my father ended up in the hospital and we cancelled at the last minute. He passed away while we would have been on the cruise.

I understand she's going to San Juan (or maybe she's already there - haven't been keeping up for the past few months). Not sure if we'll be able to make it there to sail her until she moves to another port.
