  1. I'm used to finding shampoo, body wash and a few other goodies on Carnival ships. Any idea what I can expect to find on the Freedom of the Seas next week? I like to pack light...

Also, how is the water in the cabin? Drinkable? Taste fine?

Just bar of soap and a dispenser in the shower with, I think, shampoo and soap. I brought my own so I didn't use it.

No trial size "gifts" like we had last time on Carnival.

Everything else on the ship made up for that.

My husband said the water tasted fine.

  2. Customer service KNEW we were going to be on the FREEDOM, and she told me that we STILL needed to book reservations for the other shows, besides the ice show.

I did not see it mentioned, but is Love and Marriage show in Studio B also?

Last year we reserved other shows on FOS but they never checked any reservations except the ice show. Last week only the ice show was reserved. Love and Marriage was in the Arcadia Theatre.

All shows, except the ice show, had a lot of available seating each night (at least at the time we went).

  3. I am traveling Feb. 20th on the Liberty of the Sea's out of FLL. Can someone please tell me if Royal allows you to bring on your own water and soda like other cruise line. Like 12 bottles/cans per person? Thank you for your help in advance. :)

Last week I took two eight-packs of soda in a small cooler (no ice) and placed a luggage tag on it and the porters delivered it to the room. I bought additional soda in port and brought it on board in my carryon with no question.

  4. Just got back from the Enchantment for a nice 3 day weekend cruise. We noticed a couple things different, most for the good, and were wondering if this was temporary change or across the fleet.

    1. The porters won't check water to your room any more. I had to carry on my case of water. Not a big deal, we got there pretty late so it wasn't a big deal.

    2. They had hosts seating you in Windjammer at breakfast and lunch. This was great as we never had issues getting a table.

    3. No more scanning your card to get a stinking beach towel! This was also a big plus and added to the experience.

Just off Freedom Sunday, February 2.

Took small cooler with two 8 packs of soda and put a tag on it and have it to porter. It was the first piece of luggage that reached my room and my room steward kept it full of ice all week

Hosts sat some people when requested in Windjammer

Had to have our card swiped each time we took a towel or returned a towel. No notices threatening you with a charge if you didn't return towel but it was assumed you would be charged since they took your card

  5. It is a huge deal to my husband. We don't spend a ton of time in the room but when we are there, he wants the TV on and would like to watch TV - doesn't need excursion information and was probably already at the show they are showing and doesn't want to see it again.

Years ago there were better selections. My son and I went on a cruise for his 18th birthday. He had cruised many times before, the ship wasn't one of the large ones and there wasn't much to do as every day it was too cold and rainy to be out by the pool. Fortunately it was only a four day cruise. We spent much of the time in the cabin watching movies during the day. We still remember that vacation as relaxing and fun.

My husband would probably pick a cruise line based on TV programming if given the choice.
