  1. Sorrento's while not anything to write home about isn't the worst in the world (not that I've tried every pizza in the world but I have had a bad pizza before ;)) for us it's now a cruising "thing" every night enroute back to the cabin for the night we always grab a slice, sit back and people watch for a bit then head to bed.... In real life would never eat pizza right before bed but on a cruise...anything goes :)

  2. Totally forgot! Last cruise we packed all the oldest rattiest holey underwear and at cruise end it all went in the trash can making room for purchases along the way. I even bought a pair of dress shoes for $4.95 at a discount shoe store (and with daughter-in-law's 50% store manager discount) and left them with note for cabin attendant to see if someone could use them - only worn 3 formal nights. We packed many items with intention of jettisoning them - and did!

I'm guilty of the underwear disposal system too ;) I'm a little worried since our next trip is going to be 16 days... wont have any undies by the time I come home LOL

I attempted to throw out a pair of bedazzled flip flops one cruise that rubbed the tops of my feet raw but every day I put them in the garbage my stateroom attendant just kept pulling them out and putting them back in the closet!! Finally had to ditch them in the garbage on the pool deck!

  3. I will just add to the thank you's by saying that never in my wildest dreams 1000 or so posts ago, when I said

I LOVE in depth, over the top, photo overload, super planner, food porn containing trip reviews :)
I would ever see something like this evolve! I had been somewhat joking thinking ok, he'll write a bit, throw in a few photos and be done in a couple days. Even without one single photo of any of the 3 of you (we wont count the Flowrider post groin incident photos :p) you carried this review with amazing photos and colourful commentary amazingly.

Remember back in the day... you said you were afraid something may be lost in this review since english was your second language?? I think we ALL disagree with you on that one!!

Having sailed on the big girls 3x already I was surprised at how many of your posts I looked at and wondered why I didn't recognize something or other.

When you started out your Allure "Thesis" saying you wanted to create the Allure of the Seas - A Review and Complete Pictorial Guide! A+ goal achieved!

If Gambee ever decides to do a "Live From" thread (which I doubt will happen since it will take so much time away from the cruise)... Look out Trainman and Radio... there's a new kid in town ;)

I also think you should book on my next cruise... you can be my official photographer lol

  4. Have to say yet again - AMAZING review and like everyone else i'm wondering what i'm going to do next week!! Almost to 1000 posts and 50 pages - you definitely have a following :)

One favour to ask though - since you've said you're going to try out different cruise lines PLEASE come back to this thread and post a link to your next review. Most of us don't frequent the other boards but are subscribed to this thread so we'll be able to relive it with you :)

  5. Anyway,

I did some drinking on that cruise but the wife doesn't drink as much as I do. But still, I'm thinking it would be hard to drink $55 worth each every day.

I agree - especially on port intensive cruises. That being said, it wouldn't be hard to rack it up by drinking better than you usually might by getting higher end liquor/wine as the package allowed. I would definitely be getting Grey Goose rather than the gut eater Absolut! I would also be more apt to try new drinks that I never would consider if I knew the $9 was being slapped on my SeaPass card.

Friends who get the package on Celebrity (and refuse to come over to the dark side of Royal Caribbean until they get a package...even though I think they'd enjoy themselves more) get their $$ worth by:

2 good bottles of wine @ dinner each night (at least 1/2 the price of the daily packages covered)

They start the day with a coffee + ??

    Glass of real juice each

a couple beers by the pool

    some slushy icy drink

    a bottle of water

    good coffee after dinner

a drink or 2 in the late evening

Easy to polish off $50/day but you'd have to have more stamina than I do to do it for seven!! The more I look at this... they must spend a lot of time in the bathrooms lol

  6. Donna' date=' I'm glad someone said it! I haven't been keeping up regularly because of classes and all, but with finals just around the corner- naturally procrastination sets in lol.

Since day 1 "Gambee" has been talking about this review so much and how much he appreciates everyone's input and positive energy. Now that I'm getting around to reading ALL his thoughts on my quirks... let's just sayyy he's in for it when he gets home from work *gets the rolling pin ready* lol.[/quote']

Well now we've got the whole crew on board ;) Mom's chiming in and now GBF... so we all know what G felt about the cruise... your thoughts???

That's so sweet that you're getting the rolling pin out to make cookies for him... we all know how much he likes cookies LOL LOL :P

  7. No laughing here...DH buys at least one of these $10 watches on almost every cruise we take. Not all, but many of them (he has about 7 or 8) are still up and running. He is NOT a shopper at all. I think he has an addiction and needs a support group !!:D;)

I bought my dad a Seiko watch a few years ago for his birthday. What watch do I always see on his wrist?? A $10 Royal Caribbean special of course... supposedly it reminds him of being on vacation...

note to self: purchase multiple crappy $10 watches next cruise for upcoming gift occasions

  8. hmm I shall subscribe to this thread to see where it goes... wouldn't be much benefit for myself (no way I could drink that much every day for a week) but friends I have been trying to lure over from Celebrity might actually jump ship if this is true!

If it is... just another case of the Royal Right Hand not knowing what the Left Hand is doing ;)

  9. I needed a new casual watch and had my eye on a Fossil I saw online for $135... On board it was $10 cheaper... I ran out of time on board and didn't get a chance to buy it :(

Disembark day at the Fossil Outlet Store in Sawgrass Mills Ft.Lauderdale - same watch $29.99! :)

  10. Did you see or get any pictures of where you get the horse & buggy or the trolley, not the ones that are booked beforehand with RCCL? I've read hear you can just walk up and take either one for about $15pp.

I did the $15 tour in January when I was on Liberty. You get on towards the far side of the compound - after the craft market in the middle. It was a good little tour that took you to a couple churches and basically did a drive by commentary of the area. The attached pic shows it in reference to the ship. The people standing on the lower right is where you got on.

  11. Day 4, Falmouth, Jamaica

Hello Folks, let me tell you a little story that almost cause me to have a heart attack this morning. Last night I was working on my pictures past 3am and making some panoramas. I noticed my computer being a little slow and I decided to turn it off for the night to let it rest a little. I usually only turn off my computer once a month. Well, long story short this morning I woke up and preceded to turn on the computer, it was not turning on :eek::eek:, he was claiming the database for OSX was missing. I almost died, I have my computer backed up, but I had spent a lot of time on that set of pictures. Luckily while I was looking for the restore zip drive, the computer somehow managed to turn on, I was so happy :)

I have to say backing my computer up is something I never seem to do diligently... Out of everything on my computer the only thing I would be extremely upset about would be my photos! I had a TimeCapsule that did it all for me but she unfortunately died a slow death and I never got around to getting her fixed. Guess I found a use for that stack of 100 DVD's I bought on sale and never used... let the copying begin!

  12. Hi Beth, I don't know what cruiseline you are going on but your aunts should get an SRI(special requirements) form to fill out and send back.

    Cindy

We'll be on Royal Caribbean again... I did fill out a thing on the website already that asked about what accessible amenities you require and if you're bringing on a wheelchair/scooter etc so maybe that's it... Seems too easy lol

  13. Hi again - hope everyone is doing well and great to see some upcoming cruises... can't wait to hear the stories!

I need to pick some brains... i'm out of my element to some degree

We have 2 more joining us on the Hawaii cruise - we're up to 10 now! The latest additions are my 2 aunts (49 and 54) the younger had a below knee amp a year ago & I managed to snag an accessible stateroom (only one left on the ship!). They've never cruised before so I was hard pressed to get the "book now, think later" mentality in their heads when accessible rooms are concerned but I finally succeeded. Is there anything that we need to send / fill out etc at this stage?? I'd hate to not know I had to do something and end up getting bumped from the cabin!

In hindsight I should have used my email in the booking rather than theirs so I could filter the information but I didn't. Was more concerned with quickly releasing the courtesy hold I put on the cabin and rebooking it without losing it at the time! The 2 of them did Disney in September so i'm not worried about the plane/hotel aspect - they can deal with that ;) but the cruise is going to be all on me LOL

  14. Thanks for the pics of the beach - in 3 visits i've never made it over there... I seem to plop my butt down on a chair @ Columbus and enjoy the day. To us Canadians who go in the water when it's a mere 65 degrees in the middle of the summer that "cold" water your mom speaks of is like a hot tub to us ;)

The dog makes her way around... she hung out with us in April for most of the day - probably the best fed dog in all of Haiti!
