  1. I’m finally back! I did warn you it is not live [emoji848]

In association with Discovery Channel there was an inflatable Planetarium that was installed on the Princess Theater stage. You had to sign up and in groups of about 15 you walked into the planetarium and laid down on your back on yoga mats to see the 20 minute show. It was a somewhat simplistic show about the planets but a unique experience.

I also did the Escape Room but unfortunately our team didn’t solve it. I won’t give the details but we were down to the last clue in 6 of the 20 minutes but couldn’t solve it because the last clue was damaged and none of us could read it. Oh well!

    It was still fun.

Twice so far there has been a big fan on Fiesta deck adjacent to the Window Suite corridor. I was sitting in the Princess Theater several nights ago and water started to drip on my pants. There are about six seats in three rows in the middle of the Theater that are affected. The leak is apparently from the sprinkler piping high in the ceiling.

Triva players have been filling the Vista Lounge almost to capacity.

There is a piece of good news. Apparently parts for the second aft elevator that goes down to the Canaletto DR were brought on board in Oahu because work started during that day and the elevator was running by the time we left Nawiliwili the next day [emoji106]

  6. This is the MDR wine list correct? How does the inventory change affect what is available in Vines? The wine we drank most in Vines (can't for the life of me come up with the name at the moment) used to also show up in MDR. Although I can't remember the name of the wine I can tell it's not on the list above.
Vines still has the old Wine List but inventory is running low and half of the wine flights are unavailable because of lack of stock. The ship is getting an additional supply of the new wines in Auckland. At that time the new wines should be rolled out to Vines and the bars and we should know what is on the new Vines list.

  8. The new Wine List appears to have fewer than a half dozen of the wines from the old Wine List so you will probably need to find a new favorite. One nice addition is the inclusion of the vintage. For those of you who win big at the Casino, you can order a 2009 Dom Perignon for $199 or if you prefer reds, a 2014 Amuse Bouche for $279, a 2014 Opus One for $289, a 2014 Chateau Clinet for $299, a 2014 Ao Yun Shangri-La Cabernet Sauvignon for $399, a 2014 Masseto for $629, a 2014 Penfolds Grange for $989, a 2011/2012 Chateau Lafite Rothschild for $1,600, or a 2010 Chateau Petrus for only $5,288.

Here is a summary of the new list:

    Sparkling Wines & Champagnes - 10

Light and Mild - White Varieties - 7

    Crisp & Tangy - White Varieties - 6

    Refreshing - Sauvignon Blancs - 7

    Fruity & Vibrant - White Varieties - 8

    Rich & Textured - Chardonnays - 17

    Rose Wines - 3

  9. Are the wine packages available on this sailing with the new list? And if they are what is the price? Thanks.
Because of the transition from one inventory to another, the packages are not being offered on this 28 day cruise which has a number of people upset. LA is our home port so we brought on 22 bottles for the cruise.

  13. Thursday Evening

Work was done on the Golden’s thrusters during her recent drydock and they needed to be tested so at 3:00PM this afternoon the Captain stopped the Golden in the ocean several hundred nautical miles from Honolulu and conducted a thruster test for four hours. Fortunately the seas were calm but it was strange to be stopped and motionless for the testing. There was some shaking and rattling during our early seating dining.

We went to the $25 Maitre d’ wine tasting this afternoon which had some nice wines including:

    Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne from France

Seigneurial De Tanlay “Les Ecuries” Chablis from France

    Briar Ridge Verdelho from Australia

Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir from Australia

Similar Landslide Cabernet Sauvignon from the U.S.

Overture Engraved Red Blendfom the U.S.

They were offering a $34 Ultimate Wine & Luncheon Pairing in Sabatini’s which we will also be doing.

  14. That's great about the new wines. Have they introduced any new wines by the glass? They had such terrible selections in the dining rooms.
I will take some photos at dinner tonight. Until they get more wine in Auckland only the DR’s will have the new wines. Only old wines are current available at bars or Vines and many of those wines have little or no remaining inventory.

  15. All of the material refers to Princess Fine Arts. I will confirm one way or another when I can ask questions.

Not being one to attend the art auctions, I hadn’t noticed that all of the signage and brochures referred to Princess Fine Art but it is Park West that actually runs the program. So I was wrong and Park West staff is on board but using Princess name tags.

  16. This is the third sea day on our way from LA to Sydney.Due to my limited amount of internet minutes, I may not be able to answer many questions but I will be providing some comments throughout the cruise.

The internet AND intranet has been up and down several times throughout the cruise. This has meant that Princess@Sea has been unavailable and we have had to resort to the old fashioned paper Patter

We have a cabin on Caribe deck and the only water issue we have seen on board was wet carpeting and a fan in the public corridor adjacent to the Windows suites. The carpet is now dry and the fan is gone.

There were boxes of new pillows in the hallways. The new bedding and pillows are very comfortable.

We have the new, large screen LG TVs and connections are accessible. However, there doesn’t appear to be a way to switch between inputs and the input is a coax cable, not hdmi.

There has been plenty of butter in the butter dishes in the dining rooms. We ate at Sabatini’s Trattoria on the first night and it was a very good meal with excellent service. IMHO, the new menu is a welcome change.

The new carpet has a series of 4 dots, green on the starboard side and red on the port side, that provide the same capability to know which side of the ship you are on.

The ship will apparently be getting some or all of the new wines, beers and the sort in Auckland or Tauranga. As a result, inventory of a number of wines is low or nonexistent. Vines doesn’t have stock to be able to offer half of the wine flight tastings. I have heard that Priness has stopped offering the wine packages and I will try to confirm the facts later in the cruise.

Love sailing east to west because we have already gained two hours and will gain another hour tomorrow night

The first show of Born to Dance last night was standing room only but good seats for the second show were readily available almost until curtain time.

There were a fair number of tuxes display at last night’s formal night.

There are 1,200 elites onboard. Haven’t tried to send out laundry yet but the quote the standard up to 3 day turnaround.

It appears that Park West is gone and Princess Fine Arts is back.

We hadn’t received our elite minibar by the afternoon of the second day but was able to finally get through to Room Service and exchange for 2 coffee packages.
