Thank you.
Pauline particularly likes gardening and we have a hedge trimmer which makes light work of shaping the conifers.
Once a year a guy calls to cut and trim 25 large conifers in the back.
They have blended into a hedge and are about 15 feet high and give us privacy.
We had our conifers at the front taken out earlier this year, I had let them get a little out of hand.
Replaced them with Boxus which are very slow growing and much less work.
We still have a large sceen of about 25 Conifers at the back which gives us privacy.
I still manage to trim them annually but it gets harder each year, will probably soon have to start getting someone in has I get older.

I’m sure there used to be an advert on tv for Brains Faggots.....!
We still buy them occasionally from the freezer section in Tesco, not made with Brains but plenty of other Offal similar to Haggls, very tasty if you like that sort of thing.

P and O Sue - thanks for your comment the other day - a nice young man (6' 5") came yesterday, and did all he could but said basically our phone wiring etc. is very out of date, and struggling to cope (a bit like me). The computer is running off a phone extension, which is not ideal, and I keep getting internet 'dropping off', i.e .loss of connection, remedied by switching off router and then on again. Annoying and time consuming, but at least I am not trying to work from home on it. My main fear was that it would stop working altogether, and being pretty housebound we need it to order our grocery deliveries. Will be phoned on Monday by my BT help man, Hugh, to discuss if anything can be done. It is all a complete mystery to me; I did say I was computer dopy.
Anyway, enough about me, as they say. I was sorry to read about the poor little injured dog; hope he can be sorted out soon. And - no news yet about the anniversary dinner at The Pig, which I would love to read about.
A lovely day here so far, and the GP qualy to look forward to - as well as my first lunch out in 18 months, next Saturday! Probably fish and chips and a glass of Sauv. Blanc.
It is great to read all your doings, even the banal everyday stuff, now that most of us cannot have the little chats with neighbours and fellow shoppers easily.
We had similar problem until we had a new cable ran into the house by BT.
Our internal wiring was well out of date, we did have to buy new phones with one base station.

All this talk of cold porridge reminded me of the Steptoe and Son episode when the escape prisoners ( Leonard Rossiter and another I can't remember) were eating the Steptoes leftovers,
They decided they were better off in jail, anyone else remember that classic.

Portugal, Madeira and the Azores have been moved to Amber. I can't remember them all, but Egypt is now Red.
Avril
Whatever the colour, travel abroad is a major gamble, look at the people scrambling to get home once again, not worth the risk in my opinion.

They brought a bowl of new and roast potatoes out separately.
Mint sauce too.
I don't like gravy and never put any on myself and leave any that is on with the roast beef.
Yorksire Puddings without gravy, never, the best way is the real Yorkshire way with lashings of Onion Gravy has a starter.

Frank asks for very well done , no pink and it seems to work. Why anyone wants to eat undercooked meat is beyond me.
Avril
At one time I would have said the same but now realise that it depends on the meat
A really good steak is ruined if to well done, medium is now my choice, some other meats I still like well cooked.
Like many things it's all down to personal choice.

I bet it gave him a buzz though.
They did, he was in a real panic, he was the sort that tried many things but rarely made made a good job and then gave up.
He has passed on but his Son still lives there and he is even worse, the Garden is like a jungle, he says it's a wildlife garden, I say he is bone idle.

I'm still her, will chip in while I still can if I have something useful to say.
I know for a fact that many beekeepers with collect Bees for free,
Our local one did it for my neighbour, he had been dabbling with keeping Bees himself and panicked when they swarmed.
He then gave it up much to our relief.

Good morning everyone I'm hoping everyone is feeling fine today.
Same as others have said , it's a shame to read some of our posters are now feeling
they have no place within this forum ,simply because they have never been on a P&O
cruise ship and they don't feel part of the club , which there isn't . All there is is a load
of wonderful supportive people who have helped supported and advised each other
through one of the worst years in living memory . Our moderator has said " keep all our
general posts" such as this on this page which leaves the rest of this forum to sort out
folks who do have P&O things to talk about . Please do not feel like an outsider just
because you may not sail on a P&O ship in the near future especially if you enjoy posting
on here as I'm sure your posts would be missed .They are a great bunch on here and should
you decide not to post ,one things for sure they will still welcome you back when you do.
Right that's my thought's and lets get back to the things that matter like the price of spam
in Benidorm or whatever, but all of you have a good day and stay safe .
Thanks for your wise words Kalos, I will stick around and contribute when I feel it is appropriate,
Eric

Your contribution and opinions are appreciated by many of us Eric and we certainly don't view you as an intruder.
Please check in from time to time, best wishes,
Andy
Thanks Andy and all of you for your kindness, I will keep checking in when I have something useful to say.
I hope that Michelle is better.
To those who asked about my Grandson he is still about the same even after surgery, it's looking like he will have the problem with Crohns for life.

Eric, surely you can still post on this thread, which is not P&O or cruise related?
It would be a shame to see you go.
I will probably keep checking the posts and contribute occasionally.
Just feel a bit of a intruder, nothing against P and O, just prefer smaller ships with a more international atmosphere.
-
Having read the above Where to Post message I will no longer be contributing to this forum has I have never cruised with P and O and probably never will.
It has been interesting reading about you nice people and thanks to you all for your kindness over the last few months.

Good Morning All.
Another cloudy day so far. Another tv day by the looks of outside. It is the last day of the Premier League though so lots of sport to watch.
Yesterday, my daughter and I went to our nearest large-ish shopping centre and had breakfast together in the M&S Cafe. New item on the menu was a Bacon and Ciabatta roll. Lovely we thought. After quite a long queue we got to the counter to order and we're told "we've run out of bacon" (at 9am????). Now I don't understand how this works because at the back of the store is the Food Hall which had more than enough bacon to fill a suitcase but "we're not allowed to use that". Oh well, herb sausages in ciabatta was a very nice alternative. We sat there for ages over 3 coffees each and just enjoyed the fact that we could once more take pleasure in doing something we once took for granted.
Have a good Sunday everyone and I hope you are all well and safe. 76 sleeps before we go away. Best wishes all. Jane.x
We once asked for cream to go in our coffee in Marks, told sorry we have run out, when I said you must be able to get some from the food hall they said we can't do that.
On another occasion in a Waitrose cafe we asked for lemon in or tea, they had none but went straight off to get some from the adjacent shop.

I think you'll find that I was referring to Celebrity - there is no way that I would consider a cruise on RCI.
I prefer Arcadia size ships, but accept that larger ships will become the norm for the mass market, but Celebrity, Princess, HAL at least have managed to avoid the worst of the "Sun" type entertainment (tongue in cheek)
My comment about smaller ships was in response to Graham, who implied that small ships were not profitable, which is patently not the case.
Our favourite line Azamara have just added a 4th Ship, they are a little pricey and it remains to be seen if they will be successful under new owners.
I am not sure when or if we will cruise again but they will remain our first choice with Viking or Saga has other options.

Booked a night in one of our favourite hotels near Scarborough and the Yorkshire Moors to celebrate our 52nd Anniversary on the 24th May.
Will be our first night away for almost 2 year's, due to family reasons and then the pandemic.

Military flights only I think. We were lucky to tender there on a Princess ship,a lot don't make it with the weather.King penguins were fantastic, you walked among thousands of them on a lovely golden beach, but bloody freezing even in summer. We also visited Ushaia in Argentina which is the end of the world city,I can see why, it was a dump.OTOH BA was great.P&O don't get to do this itinerary cos of ze war and us being eenglish pigs, lol.
I believe you can fly to the Falklands but only via Chile, that was true a few years ago anyway.
Many cruises do miss the Falklands due to being unable to tender, the weather is unpredictable.
We went ashore in warm clothing but in the afternoon it turned out very warm.
Just before our visit the QE2 had to cancel its stop on its final world tour, the locals had panned special events and were very disappointed.
