  1. Hi Everyone,

It'll be my first time in St. Maarten. Arriving on RCL Jewel.

I'd like to rent a car, which I've never done in the Caribbean.

I'd be interested in going to Maho Beach, and exploring some of the beaches and some shopping the island has to offer.

Have you rented a car before? where did you go? Is driving tough? (busy, narrow roads, etc, etc??)

Looking for any advice possible about renting a car for the day.

    Thanks

  2. This happens to us EVERY TIME on all different lines, we ALWAYS ask for a double and always get singles, I think they see Mr and Mr and just assume, it gets quite frustrating after a while, but looking forward to the review, nice photo's!

Glad to know it's not just me this happens to.

Our beds are always separated, even though we request together. My partner and I share the same last name, so I think they must assume we are brothers.

It's not a big deal, and I'm used to it. Happens all time (When flying, and they take my supper order, and they notice two Mr's with the same last name, they always think we're brothers. lol. I've said " Not Brothers, but Lovers! " lol )

Loving your review. We will be on Explorer next year out of Seattle.

  3. Note self, periscoping drains battery. I didn't take any sailway photos on my phone due to dead battery. I'll have to post the ones from my camera later. In Portland today. I am up early to watch our arrival. Lighthouse on port side, sunrise on starboard. Here are some early morning ship photos.

Was that you I was talking to on Periscope? You were at the bar? I was talking to you about Halifax?

  4. I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Not sure if we'll be one of your stops or not, but I suggest you bring some warm clothes. Mornings are around 5-8c (mid 40'sF) and afternoons around 15c (upper 50's F)

However this is a lovely time of year to visit. The air is fresh and crisp, the tree's will be starting to turn, and fall is in the air!

  5. Hard to believe that it's been 6 days since we disembarked from our Serenade TA. I noticed some pretty negative reviews prior (ship of NO) to our cruise so would like to give our opinion on what was a great cruise.

I'm glad you enjoyed your TA. I live in Halifax, NS and was walking by the farmers market/ Pier 21 when you guys docked. Lovely looking ship. I hope you enjoyed your day in my home city.

Here is a picture I took of your boat while in Halifax.

  6. pilotboy1985 - is this Matt & Chris?? Pls send me your email address. I had one but you must have changed it. Been trying to get in touch with you. Was suppose to be in Halifax yesterday but had to cancel cruise. If this is not Matt & Chris, let me know. Pat & Foster.

    Sorry to interrupt this thread.

    Hi Pat & Foster,

Mathew and I were just talking about you on Sunday!

    please e-mail me! It's

chris_ward @ bellaliant .net (Without the spaces)

    Thanks!

  7. I spoke to my lovely TA today.

She advised they will do a tour, but RCCL is in charge of the date and ship and right now they've only offered a tour of Liberty when she docks in the next couple of weeks. There is nothing scheduled for any of the radiance class ships.

Too bad, but good to know it's an option.

  8. Some interesting responses that give me hope!

$40 PP sounds reasonable, and I think it would be a fun thing to do for the day. We get 7-10 cruise ships in port a week, I could tour a few of them a year. It would give me something to look forward to (I know, I live an exciting life)

Is anyone able to assist me with this even though you may not be in Halifax? Or would I need to check with a local TA? My TA is in Halifax, but is currently out of the province.

    Thanks

  9. hi everyone,

I know it's a long shot, but has anyone had experience with trying to tour a cruise ship when it's in town?

I live in Halifax and we get lots of cruise ships in town. Serenade and Brilliance will be in port this season and I'd like to get a look at them with a guided tour as I have two bookings coming up on jewel and I've never been on that class.

I'm guessing this is not possible but if anyone would know it would be you guys!

  10. I don't know what MN is

I don't know what CTN is

    Knock off the silliness

Sorry you didn't like my opinion. There are plenty here who agree with me that over use of some acronyms are challenging

Interesting, I couldn't help but notice your over use of acronyms as well. Does anyone else see the humour in this?

SS numbers are not on any document to cross reference

this is between you and your travel agent. Royal does have promotions from time to time that offer OBC, but far from all. I guess your TA is not surprising you this cruise.

Ask your TA about OBC when you book next time.

much the fun of a vacation is looking forward to it IMO

Seen lots of people bring the wrong BC. They call home, have someone retrieve it, and then fax it to terminal. That's worse than a copy and is acceptable

takes all of 1 extra minute. No big deal. BTW, you don't need to print the cruise contract. You need to print your set sail pass. If you don't or can"t, it's not a big deal
  11. Good to know some people have been experiencing the same issues as me.

I called Crown and Anchor today and explained for my cruise booked in USD it says the drink package is $22.42 per day, which includes tips. However when I look at my canadian cruise it says the cost is $24.70 but this is NOT including tip. I asked why my american cruise includes tips but my canadian does not. He could not give me an answer so I just asked him to refund my purchase which he did. I will simply buy the package when I am on board at the rate of $19 USD plus tax.

  12. hello,

Can anyone tell me if the drink package prices went up? When I checked online for my upcoming cruise booked in U.S. Dollars it says it's $22.42 /per day plus 18% gratuity. I thought it was $19/day plus gratuity for the royal replenish?

For one of my cruises coming up in Canadian dollars they charged me $24.70/ per day plus 18% and that seems higher.

    Anyone experience this?
