  1. Try sailing a HAL Baltic to Russia when you and your wife are in your 20's ...... We were the youngest people aboard by 40 years. Some people wanted to talk to us just because they were curious who we were . Others were down right mean to us and others wouldn't even sit with us at dinner .......

Your table manners must really be atrocious:D:D:D

  2. I think that, if a perk comes with the cabin itself, you get it. For example, Blu comes with Aqua Class and top tier suites (e.g., RS) include the drinks package, unlimited internet, etc. However, if Celebrity is offering a perk such as a drinks package as a current booking incentive, then it's not included. Also, if you already have a perk as part of your original booking, I believe you keep that perk if you move up.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

So called free perks are a mystery to me. If a cabin without a perc is $3,000, and a cabin with a perc is $3,500, what's free about it? Why wouldn't the perk go along with the new cabin. The customer is paying for it. What am I missing?

  3. People that have real money, lots of it,don't flaunt it,keep quiet about it,I for one, don't wear any jewelry,no watch,( I can easily afford one),but in my clubs, that would be "bad taste ". People that throw money around just want to impress others,l myself,do not dress up,just want to be comfortable, that's my take on cruises !

People who work hard and make something of themselves deserve to wear nice things, if they choose. In my clubs it would be foolish to dress like a pauper and drive a jalopy just to avoid a false label. For me most people who can afford the best things in life, penthouses on land and sea, aren't flaunting it; they are enjoying the fruits of their labors. Good for them

  4. We have a very knowledgeable foodie friend who is extremely well versed in cruise/traveling, so we trust her opinions implicitly. She'll be on board the Edge in December, and our final payment is in January. Frankly, I cannot conceive of backing out; the curiosity factor is too great, but it might be our first and last at the going prices. I really am surprised our friend booked so early a cruise. Too fancy a ship not to have issues of some sort.

  5. I have a dinner question, we booked a CC not a suite this time and received some great credits to use on speciality dinning.

We decided on the 7 meals with our 12 day cruise (630-830), do we need to make reservations once on board or do we just go to the restaurant we choose that night and will be seated?

Also I assume that the 7 night package can be used either as a lunch or a dinner as well?

Thanks in advance for your help....

I see no response to your question, so here's what I believe occurs. For the first night you select a time to dine and a restaurant will be assigned to you. I wonder if that restaurant will be the least full or favored. Perhaps someone can advise. Then, you will be contacted by a maître d' hotel to choose restaurants and times for the rest of the cruise.

Incidentally, I think you have done well in choosing a CC with specialty dining rather than a suite.

  6. Those who think Michael’s club looks empty, at least on the S class ships, should keep in mind that it is an L shaped room. The bar and most of the seating is actually out of sight from those looking in at the front door.

It is uncommon to see the place even half filled except perhaps before dinner. I'm not complaining, either. It's nice having a private club with just a handful of people in attendance, allowing quiet conversation far from the madding crowd. I guess the liquor packages and the dark, windowless room on the S class ships have made Michael's Club less attractive for some.

  7. Are elite plus still allowed to use Michaels Club?

Were they ever allowed unless they were in a suite? I remember when X announced Sky Suite guests were to be allowed in Michael's Club. The outcry was deafening. Many were concerned about crowding and poor service. Ha! The place is usually empty and the bartender lonely.

  8. I'll tell you this..that D-Bag would have gotten the same back from me.

Yo are referring to the woman who was called a "F#@%er by some coarse jerk, when her husband had stepped away.

An officer had been called and, really, if that comment had been made in his presence, some formal action should have been taken. No innocent passenger should have to tolerate filthy language, especially a woman.

  9. I like Luminae's service and the table spacing. If the OP is a foodie, I suspect some level of disappointment looms. I sometimes have to order from the MDR menu. I strongly suggest Murano for a very good experience at least once.

Before it actually opened, Luminae was made to sound really special. I can't recall exactly how or why except the chef was to get local products to prepare for dinner when in port. Am I dreaming? (It is possible:))

  10. It's a standard rate of 39 euros to the airport - you shouldn't have been charged 50

Yes, but I've been taken for worse. Actually, I did check before the trip and people were saying fifty, so I was not surprised. Obviously, this is a standard ploy some cabbies must use. Oh, well. in the general scheme of things, this is noise level.

  11. Yes she did, but I think she also said it would happen as soon as the web site was fixed and up and running smoothly.:D

And that will happen tomorrow but manana never comes:rolleyes:

If we really need water, the bartenders in the Elite Lounge have always accommodated us.

  12. In a perfect world that would work, but alas it's not a perfect world and I don't see X or any other line, risking the loss of someone's business over a lounge chair and that's part of the problem.

The fallacy in this is clear: Celebrity might not offend the offenders, but they certainly are offending the offended.

  13. That's the rub of course. Go and have a look at some of the Interline rates on Celebrity for "late availability". They'll make you weep and wish you work(ed) for an airline.

    Phil

For an airline employee to truly benefit, he would want to fly standby to/from the embarkation/disembarkation ports. That can be very difficult. But the thought of reduced cruise fares plus free flights certainly is an appealing one.

  14. Hi just wanted to jump in on this--we are Elite + with Celebrity and have 4 more cruises booked with them. There seem to be more deals for us on their Asian cruises than Med or Caribbean.

However we have also booked 3 MSC Yacht Club for 3 cruises next year (8 weeks total) due to the price increases on Celebrity.

    Liz[/quote ]

The Yacht Club is great and the cost quite reasonable. It's the only way to travel n MSC

  15. You make good points, Tee Rick, but I have to wonder who the people are who would pay so handsomely for a middle range product. Are they new cruisers, are they benefiting from a booming economy and not concerned with cost, or are they simply filthy rich? For the last seven or so years we have taken at least two, sometimes three, B2Bs over Christmas on the Eclipse in either Celebrity or S1 suites. Not so this year. I see that on certain cruises, Celebrity is getting into the Regent price range, and Regent will win that competition every time. A few thousand dollars is well worth it for such a great experience.

So now we are facing a decision point as final payment for our B2B in late November/early December is fast approaching. We moved down to Aqua class but we have the cabins we want at a good price. Do we cancel twenty one days of Celebrity for ten or twelve on Regent? The cost in total will be about the same but the experience with differ markedly. We shall see. But I am still wondering who is paying those high prices on X's Christmas cruises. It certainly won't be us.

  16. Well said. We have never cruised because we wanted to accrue loyalty points, but because we enjoy the experience. So it was never a goal to reach a certain loyalty level, but we did pass over the 3000 point level in 2017 and I must admit we enjoy the benefits.

When we were getting close to becoming Elite, we had booked a ten day cruise when I noticed there was a two day Bahamas cruise which would put us over the top. We jumped on it. Judging by our conversations with other passengers, the majority of people on that ship were doing what we were doing. Once we were Elite, we didn't shoot for Elite+ but that two day was low hanging fruit. Back then it was very easy to gain status with Celebrity.

People get close to the next level and look for ways to go over the top. I can't blame them. I bet booking higher cabin categories is the most popular and doesn't involve flights, hotels, etc
