  1. I just called and cancelled for POM.  The call center said I should expect a wait time of 55 minutes.  A very nice agent picked up the call in 2 minutes.  I was really surprised.  She said everything was going back to FCC except for the cost of the insurance and my 10% coupon.  Could take up to 14 days for it show up on my account.  I questioned why the insurance was not refundable and she said it was because it would not be fair to others who cancelled using their insurance before the issue of POM.  I understand that.

I’m on Breakaway now, letter is authentic, no compensation offered to guests even those in Haven rooms such as ourselves

I'm sorry, what does being in the Haven give you more consideration than the others in the lower cabins?  Everybody is on the same ship you are.  I thought that you pay more for your cabin in the Haven, but the same for entertainment as everyone else.

Thank you for posting this snapshot.   I will include it in my next email.

I take it you have not heard back from NCL today either.

Not so far.  I put this in my letter with how easy it was to find.  Right on the page in booking.  You just went to the Joy booking.  Past choosing a date and cabin type, there was a section called Staterooms.  You clicked the type and there it was.  Not hidden and not hard at all to find.  I think that is the same thing the agents that I called got the info.

The OP was NEVER promised Haven access.

Since the refit (2019-2020), suites on the Joy are are offered breakfast and lunch in La Cucina (not the Haven Restaurant), no dinner, a concierge (different that the full concierge staff in the Haven), no butler. For the past couple of months, since restart, Joy Suites have included Butler service (to be more consistent with suites on small ships). Now the OP has made a accusation, with no basis, that the benefits have changed. It maybe just the new website which provides less information about the rooms. Haven also does not list these perks, just a description of the room now... just like the suites....

They did on the new website.  Just about everything but Haven access.  Now they say (verified by pre-cruise concierge) that no breakfast/lunch, treats, priority embarkation/debarkation.  They do say you get plush bathrobes.  The description changed stating right after Thanksgiving.  1st no butler, then the  breakfast/lunch in LaCucina.  I sent the proof to NCL in a letter and they did not respond.   I am not very good at attaching stuff.  I hope you can read this.  It was taken on November 9th 2021

There are 26 Penthouse House Suites on the Joy.  Then there are also the Family Suites which were also sold with certain amenities.   A lot more than four people.    These cabins do not have Haven access, but had a lot of other similar amenities.

There are 33  two bedroom family suites inside that hold up to 6 people.  It had the same amenities that the penthouse suites listed.  Two bedroom (around 530 square feet, virtual balcony) with two full bathrooms.   We choose that one so my sister had her own bed and bath.

That would make sense and NCL has a right to do that, but I do not believe that is the case.   I am 100% positive these amenities were included in by booking. I originally booked a mini suite with large balcony then realized for about  $1100 more, the Penthouse Suite with Balcony was an option with some similar amenities as a Haven Suite.

My certified letter included a copy of the booking site stating the amenities.  You could book with them until yesterday.

And how were you notified of this change in perks? And what did that notification say were your options?

The perks and amenities were still on there website yesterday morning.  That changed about 2 pm.  I guess that the cruisers on the ship last week and this week are raising a stink.  We were never notified and 4 agents assured me all systems was a go.

What is the post cruise email address?

It is a form you fill out supposedly after you cruise.  You can get the form under Guest Experience  - After you cruise under the list of contact us on the 1st page (at the bottom). I called the number listed under Guest Relations - before you cruise and she did not help except to tell me that they changed the website the same day.  She was not a lot of help, but she did direct me to the form.

I firmly wrote that I expected a call or email this time.  We will see, but I am going to be persistent.  I will post if and when I hear something.

We cannot be the only people who are angry about this.  Our cruise is on January 22, 2022

Were you successful in obtaining clarification?   I noticed they changed the amenities when booking now.  Then I called and was  told the butler and concierge was included along with the breakfast and lunch at LaCucina.   Then I did an online chat and was told the complete opposite.  Very frustrating.

I have been told by Pre-concierge one thing and 5 agents telling me something else.  I wrote a letter to corporate and did not hear anything.  I am angry about the lack of consistency in communication.  This morning all that info was still on the website ,but at 2:00pm they changed it.  I could not get in my account at 2;00 but was able to later.  All of it changed.  I was told that. the only thing that is included was on the website now.  I was mad at that answer because after all we booked it cabin for the amenities.  I called the customer service line and the agent told me to email post-cruise customer service.  I did that tonight.  What really burns me is I wrote the letter to corporate before our final payment and they did not answer my letter.  They must have filed it in the trash.  Anyway, I told them that it was not ethical to change the terms after people booked.  At least they could have given me the courtesy of an answer.  We are past final payment now and I quess everyone who has booked is SOL.  I think that all those who has cruised this week and last are letting them know.  I gave them a heads up.  The amenities with this cabin are not even on par with Club Balcony suites.  At least they get some treats in the evening, laundry and some free room service.

  10. We are also booked in this suite.  It does not have Haven benefits, but I do believe it does have a butler and concierge service.  There was some question about that, but if you scroll down past the sail dates when you are doing a mock booking, you see a list of staterooms on the ship.  It has all of the other benefits of the other NCL suites on the smaller ships.  Just select view staterooms then suites.  There is a list of amenities.  No haven access, but everything else.

OK, the document was sent to me about a month ago.  Also sent was the Haven Welcome Letter.  It was sent directly from NCL.  Not from a Travel Agent.  I am on the Joy on the November 27, 2021 sailing.

I fully understand how you feel with your comment about the document date.  It is the same way we all feel when the right hand (NCL ONline) and the left hand (NCL document sent out) don't match.

My reason for providing it was to assist with the question asked.  It seems that this same question was answer by someone that was in the SP suite as well.  Past this, I recommend that the Author call NCL.

We all have to remember, this is social media.  We are really not the ultimate decision makers.  That, I am afraid is NCL.  Every thing they do is in their own words, "Subject to Change".  I was just attempting to be helpful with the information provide.

    Cruise well everyone.

I agree that you can get different answers to the same question.  I did call NCL and the agent told me that a butler and concierge were included.  Could you provide the name of the department you got the list from?  I would love to call them to find out what is correct.

Yes, that is exactly what it says:

    Features & highlights

Convenient mid-ship location, some sleep up to five or six. 24-Hour Butler, Concierge Service and personal escort on and off the ship.

I wonder if this also includes dedicated breakfast and lunch like the other Suites on ships where there is a Haven but you are not in the Haven, like the Jade.

I read that the SP suites get breakfast and lunch in the Italian restaurant.  I just called NCL and the agent told me that it does have a butler.  I am not sure if this is true or not, but I hope that someone who has really sailed in one of these suites can let me know.  Thank you for letting me know that you read the same thing I read and my eyes were lying to me.

  13. We have booked one of the inside 2 bedroom family suites for our upcoming Joy cruise.  For anyone who has sailed in one of these cabins, does it include a butler and concierge service?  In reading these boards, I was understanding that this service was not included.  Today I noticed when you select this cabin it listed those perks.  It is under the Features & Highlights when you pick this cabin type when you select it in the booking sections.  I know that it is not a Haven cabin.

I have attached a PDF file sent to me from NCL.  It is very small so you might want to enlarge it.  It shows all the Categories and amenities for each stateroom on the Joy.  SP is included.  It should answer all of your questions from an NCL standpoint.

    Hope it helps.

Thank you for the PDF, but when I click on it I get the red screen of doom (says it comes from a unsecure site)  We are also booked in this category and would love to see your list.

I’m not a big spender.  I don’t drink soda or alcohol do avoid the beverage packages.  I would consider it for this cruise though if bottled water is included.  I go to the shows and/or trivia but usually only spend money on the cruise fare and shore excursions.  Typically I book private excursions as I’m a wheelchair user and private tours are more than just a “drive by” of the sites.  I can also do without specialty dining as I find the food in the MDR good (at least on princess).

NCL does not supply bottled water unless you have the premium drink package.  My husband drinks loads of water and he thinks the water from the taps are great.  You can purchase bottled water for your consumption for your cabin.  A little pricey, though.  We have gotten off the ship with zero balance due because we prepay the daily service charge.  Heck, we were given 200.00 dollar obc and had to find places to spend it on.  You will be good to go.  Sounds like a great vacation.

  16. I have cruised on both Princess and NCL.  We have never felt nickeled or dimes on any of our 19 cruises.  I prefer NCL over Princess.  The Princess ships were nice, but seemed to stuffy for us.  List here the things you like to do on Princess and how much you paid and we can let you know the cost for on NCL.

I can tell that the Jade is a great ship.  We have sailed on her 3 times.
