  1. Got an email today from both HAL and my TA….”This notification is to advise that your assigned check in time for your upcoming voyage has been assigned or has changed. Please take a moment to review and print the boarding pass page in your documents from Online Check In or update your electronic boarding pass in our Navigator app….” I’ve tried both online and in the app and the box for boarding pass is blocked off and cannot be selected. I am assuming this is a glitch in their system and it will be available soon. I sent an email to my TA asking about it, however, thought I would also ask here. Has anyone had this happen before?
  2. It has been a while since we cruised and I know a lot has changed. There used to be a shore excursion booklet laying on the bed when we got on board - is that still done? Also, we used to get a port map - I’m thinking that was gone on our last cruise in 2019 but I’m not sure. Do we get a port map?
  3. Thanks everyone for the great info. Sounds like it will most likely be a pleasant, low key check in.
  4. We will be boarding in Rotterdam for the 2nd half of Voyage of the Vikings. We’ve never joined a longer cruise at the halfway point and I’m wondering how does boarding work when that happens? I’m assuming we will be assigned a boarding time closer to the day we board, July 25. The ship will be staying overnight in port and sailing at 5pm the day after we board. Checkout time at our hotel (next door to the cruise terminal) is at 11am. It would be nice to checkout of the hotel on the 25th, immediately walk to the cruise terminal, checkin with HAL, drop off the carry on luggage in the room and spend most of the day exploring Rotterdam. Does anyone who has joined a segment of a longer cruise know does boarding still start around the normal boarding time? I have no doubt there will be much fewer passengers joining that day than when the cruise started in Boston, is the boarding process the same as when you are boarding for the entire cruise? We did the 1st half of the Voyage of the Vikings years ago and when we disembarked in Amsterdam I remember only a handful of others disembarking with us and I don’t recall seeing anyone waiting to join the cruise.
  5. Thanks. Cashmere is something I haven’t considered. That has to be dry cleaned doesn’t it?
  6. I just recently heard about Jambu for the first time. I need to check them out.
  7. Thanks for the info. Mary Janes are the only style I can find that would work for dining room and walking. I like the look of the shoes in the link. My foot tends to slide up in this style as I walk - I have a narrow ankle.
  8. Does anyone have wool& clothes? Do they travel well?
  9. We’ve never sailed with Azamara but their world cruise 2024 caught my eye. I know nothing about Azamara so started with their website. Looks very interesting. What do you like most? Least? about Azamara?
  10. I am light packer usually taking a book bag size Eddie Bauer backpack and a rolling carryon bag. I am going to try the next trip with just the backpack since the trip includes flights, cruises and trains - the rolling bag was a pain at times the last time we did a trip that included trains. I easily traveled to Acapulco for 2.5 months with just a backpack - but that was warm weather only. This trip will be 3 months and includes hot humid weather as well as a day with an average high of 48F and everything between so layering is my friend. We have free laundry on the cruise ship so that 33 days (which will include all our cold weather) I won’t need more than 2 of anything since laundry from one day is returned the following day. I am wondering what other light packers pack to get an idea of whether or not I can make this work.
  11. I would love to travel with just one pair of shoes. However, I cannot find one pair of shoes that works for light hiking, long walks around towns, around the pool/beach, dressy or formal nights on cruise ships (or whatever it is called now), etc. so, I usually take a pair of sandals that work for formal nights and pool/beach as well as walking around towns plus a pair of comfortable shoes that can be worn around town and light hiking. Has anyone found one pair of shoes that works for everything?
