  1. The law requires that a cruise (other than US ships) starting & ending in different US ports has to call on a distant foreign port.

Canadian ports are foreign ports, but not distant ones. Same holds for all Central & North American ports and most Carribean ports.

A round trip cruise just needs any foreign port. One way cruises between a US & foreign port are fine.

How do they determine 'distant' ports? This is all new to me and I am curious

  2. We tried to do this. We are flying American from LAX through MIA to San Juan on 11/16. I tried to convince AA to let us have a 24 hour layover in MIA. They said this would require canceling our reservation and reticketing it. Cost: $1650.00 per person. But, they were willing to waive the $200 change fee. That’s so kind of them.

Another reason I do not travel AA.

  3. After having a few hotels cancel on me, booked my first AirBnB near the San Juan airport for this weekend. If it's good, I will recommend.

Definitely check reviews, cancellation policy, and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Before I booked, I narrowed my search down to two. I reached out to both hosts to see if the places had power. One responded almost immediately that there was power and running water. The other one took about a half-day to respond to say there's no power (yet their listing is still posted).

    Good luck.

I am a newbie to Airbnb. I was excited to find my place. It is about 15 minutes from the airport and just blocks from the beach. Both power, air, and water are working and is in 'perfect' condition. I'm soooooo happy and can now get very excited about this cruise....

  4. Absolutely. My all time favorite cruise embarked in Venice (with an overnight) and debarked in Barcelona. Along the way, we visited Dubrovnik, Argostoli, Corfu, Santorini, Messina, Rome, Naples and Livorno.

And yes, I would certainly consider this a "bucket list" cruise because we don't know how much longer cruise ships are going to be able to sail out of Venice. It's the most beautiful sail-away I've ever seen.

Why is Venice a question for sailing out?

  5. I have been on Caribbean Princess and the Lido deck forward cabins are a good location (unless you are prone to seasickness, since up front and high you will feel more motion if you hit rough seas).

You have the Lotus Spa above you on deck 16 so any noise should be minimal. You are also the highest balcony so no one has a balcony above you. It will be handy for walking back to the buffet and bringing things back to your cabin if you want (without stairs or elevators). Also convenient if you are in the hot tubs or pool, you can just go through the doors back to your cabin to change. Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for the feedback. That is exactly what I was hoping.

  6. I just booked my first cruise on Princess. It is the Panama Canal cruise out of Florida, Dec 9th, 2018. We have always cruised NCL and decided to venture out to another cruise line. We will be on the Caribbean Princess. Our room is L222, I hope this is a nice balcony and not a noisy section of the ship. I looked at the decks above/below us and they look like we are in a good position.

    What tips can you provide.
