I tend to now just book with a certificate via email because they seem to know the system and get the information correct

Hopefully I will be able to do this as well but still not happy with what we were told as opposed as to what we actually got.  Our last sailing was booked under the old program, not happy with the new one.

  2. Yes, very disappointed in the new MSC Casino.  We received a cert and was told on board it was for 30% off but went to book and was told its for a Bella Inside for 5 days??? Really so I ask about upgrading to YC via email and am quoted a price. Called Casino dept and was given a totally different price and then got disconnected.  Called back and was given another totally different price.  I told them about the email price I was quoted and was told that I should email them to book.  So I email asking for someone to call me and they reply that they can't and to email my issue, so I did and I hope to get a reply.

Let's see. It opened almost two years after it was supposed to originally.  I think I'd wager on them missing the goal date.

That's my fear in pulling the trigger.  My first cruise on the Seaside the island was not ready. Was lucky enough to to visit on our next 2 cruises and it is our fav stop so really don't want to book and be disappointed.  Actually it is the only good stop on the sailing from Brooklyn, but the no flying hassle makes us lean to sailing from there.  I guess I got some thinking to do...🤔

I Keep getting upgrade offers for inside YC. We have Fantasica balcony from Brooklyn. My question, for those who have sailed from NY, how often were you able to use your balcony coming and going from NY? Will I miss it if I switch to the inside YC? I like to sit out there and have my coffee in the morning. Also, i'm going with my friend and not my DH, so it gives us a little more space with the balcony.

My 2 cents: I sailed YIN on Seaside with a friend.  We were originally booked Fantasica balcony and we did not regret the switch.  I will say that I heard the YIN on Seaside is slightly bigger than the Mera but with the beds split we had a center aisle and it made the room feel not as small.  The room we were in had the public bathrooms a few feet away which was a plus and honestly, with the pool area right there, we didn't miss the balcony and absolutely loved all the amenities.  Also, the service was amazing and never having to fight for a lounge by the pool was priceless.  Storage wasn't that great but we brought lots of removable hooks and we were fine.

Hi, I'm sailing a couple of weeks later.. Driving in too.. I'm curious about the embarkation for yacht club, BUT.. before that, the traffic to even get into the port. A few previous reports state there is no direction on the blocks leading to the port, so every block is a bottleneck. Also, google maps can put you on a bad - dead end path.. Have a great time - THEN post.. lol..

Mike, Let's hope my GPS (Rich) gets us there with no hiccups 😉

Parking $315.00 for 7 day cruise. Many folks from LONG ISLAND, BROOKLYN, AND QUEENS will find it cheaper and easier to simply take a car service or UBER to the pier.

I heard somewhere that the 7 day is really considered an 8 day and you are charged $45 a day for 8 days, can anyone confirm?

It's a little closer, but I think the taxis for ship excursions park in a different area that's closer to the ship. Crown Bay is a much smaller docking area.

Thank you for your response, it's much appreciated.

  8. Sailing Reflection in March with a friend who has limited mobility.  I know the taxi stand in Havensight is a bit of a walk but thinking Reflection will dock in Crown Bay.  Is the taxi stand to get to a beach close to the pier, or is it also a ways to walk?

Having sailed YIN on both ships, I can confirm Seaside cabin is a good amount larger although bathrooms are identical. Created more floor space by tucking the metal glass table under the area where coffee m/c and TV etc. are located.

At bedtime we relocated the chair, placing it in front of the wardrope door, to remove trip hazard risk for overnigh toilet visits!

    Thanks for the tips!

DH always said "when I can't walk, that's when I'll pay for a butler".

Unfortunately life happened and he's currently recouperating from major surgery.  Although all is going really well, I don't want him to have to deal with lines and crowds etc....so I'm thinking Int YC on the Meravigia.

    I have a few questions:

Meals....what are the times and do they offer a modified buffet? Can you get things not on the menu?

Is the Aurea area (I think it's deck 15) for Aurea passengers and YC?  Or, does YC have a separate pool area?  Actually, I'm confused about "the pool".  Where is the pool for "the masses".  Also confused about the lounge; where is the YC lounge?

Do you tip the butler/concierge? (I ask only because somewhere I read extra tipping is not expected)

Is use of the spa included?

We were on the Meraviglia in 2019 and I loved it.  But, to be honest....if it weren't for the pizza I wouldn't have found much to eat.

Lastly....on another thread someone commented that there was only on uni-sex toilet by the concierge for the lounge and restaurant.  Can someone else confirm this?  Not important to most people....but "to men of a certain age" it is!

I sailed Seaside YC Interior with a friend but will be sailing with DH on Meraviglia YC Interior this summer which I hear might be a wee bit smaller than the inside on Seaside.  Storage is limited so we packed a lot of removable hooks for hanging swim suits, coverups and such, it was fine and we were2 women, lol.  I booked Deck 16 both times so we are on the same level as the lounge.  Dinner is anytime you want to go I believe from 5 or 5:30.  I thought food in YC was good.  YC and Aurea are different areas.  YC has it's own pool, hot tubs, buffet breakfast and lunch but the dining room is also open for breakfast and lunch as well.  Aurea guests not allowed in YC area.  We did have access to spa but never checked it out.  Can't comment on uni-sex toliet but on both Seaside and Seashore there was separate public restroom on 16, one for men, one for woman.  We usually tip above the basic grats.

    Hope this helps.

Hello everyone we are just off of the harmony.  The ship, shows and service were great. BUT the food in the Windjammer and main dinning were less then desirable. This is our first oasis class ship, all other classes have been great until this one.

Sadly we had the same experience.  Someone I met said something about them losing their original food suppliers during Covid.  We even ate at 4 specialty restaurants and did not feel that it was worth it this time.  We went to Windjammer once and never again.  Needless to say, we were all very disappointed in the food this time around.  Also the ship was full and I don't think they were prepared for this, you could feel the staff shortages.  We did speak with a lot of staff who were new and just learning.  That aside, all in all we did have great weather and got to sail with great friends AND... we were on Vacation!

It's a fifteen minute ride to MIA.  If you get off by 8:30, I would think you would be fine.  We are on a 10:25 flight in March, and I have not had a problem getting to the airport in plenty of time to check bags and relax in the Admiral's club before the flight.

Thanks, I get nervous cutting things so close but you are all making me feel less stressed.

Yes...it will be tight, but you should be fine.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I have been stressing but I have until April so hoping maybe they will change it again to a later time or add another flight that I can change to without camping out all day in the airport.

  14. I'm on the flipside of this question.  We are sailing out of Miami and our flight back home leaves MIA at noon, however Jet Blue changed the time to 10:30 am.  Is this doable if we decide to do YC walkoff?

They would be worth considering - the magnetic hooks are quite heavy, the Command ones would be better for packing.   Thank you!  😊

And they are reusable, you just by the sicky tab refills and re-use the same hooks

Thanks, Anne Marie.  I've bought very strong magnetic hooks - do they slide down the walls when weight is placed on them?  I tried one out on our fridge and it slid down the door when I hung something from it - and they have a very strong magnetic pull.

We used the Command removable plastic hooks and they were very sturdy, not sure about magnetic.
