  1. If you get a chance to talk to the Cruise Director is Jimmy Rhodes, can you ask him if he will be onboard for the February 27th sailing and if not who will be the cruise director then.

    Thanks

    Jimbo:)

Would love to know who will be the CD for the March 9th cruise as well.

Have been on Explorer twice already and will be again in March and have been enjoying reading your posts. Thanks for taking the time to do this

  2. Hey there! There's a bunch of us folks leaving this Friday on the Ex. Why don't you hop on over to the roll call and check it out! We've got a good group going!

    Hi,

Unfortunately I have to wait until March 9th to sail the Explorer. If you get a chance, could you please post who the CD is and if Richard Spacey is going to be on through the end of March.

    Thanks!:)

  3. I just called Crown & Anchor and they said that Richard Spacey is getting on the Explorer on 1/16/12 through March. I asked if he was on through the end of March and they said they would think that's what through March means.

Just realized that OP says the Jimmy Rhodes is on this cruise and it is past 1/16/12. Apparantely Crown & Anchor does not have the right info and I have not had enough coffee yet to notice:o

  4. We are traveling on the Explorer in May with my sister and her husband. We have balcony cabins and would like to have the partition open if possible. On another thread I was told to wait and ask our cabin steward when we board. Anyone been on the Explorer lately with this situation?

    Fred

If I remember correctly the partitions cannot be opened on Explorer. I suggest you ask Radio who is currently sailing on the Explorer

  5. You need to be at shows 15 minutes early; they let those without reservations in shortly after that. If you are particular about seats, then come half an hour early.

Dinner in the MDR often takes up to two hours. On the first night, our waiter asked what pace we wanted to be served and we were out in 0ne hour, 15 minutes each night (as we wished). If you have a show that is close after dinner, tell the waiter and they try to accommodate you.

Thanks for jumping in with a quick reply:)

  6. Yes, good question. I'm still waiting to hear if there is some alternative to the ridiculous $19/day parking fee which adds up to $171 for a nine night cruise.

As far as I know there really isn't an alternative. We have sailed Explorer twice and both times I tried to research parking elsewhere but they seem to have it priced so that even if you tried to use a Park & Ride near the airport, the Taxi to port would make it just as expensive as parking at the port and a lot less convenient. I have heard some people who have stayed overnight the night before the cruise in one of the hotels in the area that will allow you to keep your car there but idk if they charge for a shuttle or how much the overnight stay would cost. We are sailing again in March so if anyone does find an alternative I would definately be interested as well.

  7. Hi all....my DH and I will be sailing once again on EOS out of Cape Liberty....love this and can't wait, but this is the first time we are not sailing from a FL port. Over the weekend I was talking with a few folks who now have me worried...insisting that the seas are very rough....hurricane or not and that no sea sickness remedies helped them.

DH and I usually start taking Bonine two days before and then into the cruise and I have to say...I enjoy the lull of the ship...even when it's a bit more wavy.

But now these folks have me thinking.....and wanted to hear your experiences. Can it be that bad....and if so, why would so many people cruise from the US eastern ports?

I am prone to motion sickness and even have a hard time sitting in the back seat of the car so I too was worried the first time on Explorer in Oct 2009 for 9 days but I was fine. I just took a Bonine everyday and believe it or not, the cocktails helped. We also did a 12 day in Jan 2011 and on the way home sailed through a Noreaster  but thankfully it was between midnight and 9am so I was fine with all the rocking, sort of like being a baby in a cradle :p Loved the Explorer so much we are doing a 10 day in March so don't stress and have a great time:D
