  1. To the poster who asked about boarding: CAS guests board after pre-boarding/extra assistance, and suite guests. Then they start the number-calling.

To funNsun: as an invited guest, you will have a drink card in your cabin waiting. You can qualify for Premium drinks if you attain Golden status.

The Lucky category is for new players who are signing up to begin with (and weren't invited).

    .

    Thank you :)

  2. You do not get any confirmation of that. As I said before, once you pass the security screening yo will encounter the NCL ladies, you tell them you are from CAS and they will look at their roasters and verify that your name is on that list and that's it, you are in, they will direct you to the next available agent.

It is not really a sign there saying priority check in like at the airports, (it actually is in New York, but only for the haven suites, they will go to the 3rd floor). is just that they will skip the lines for you, they just will open the ropes and let you go before all the other "common cruisers" (LOL LOL). We have cruised with CAS 8 times and that's what we have done in New York and Seattle, we really did not use it in Miami and Barcelona because we got there almost at closing time so was nobody in line, but I am pretty sure they do it in every port.

Last cruise from New York they gave us boarding group #3, we got there around noon and by the time we finished with check in (took only 10 min) they were calling group #5 already, so we went straight onboard.

Go to the NCL website and look for the CAS seccion and see all the info.

Thanks for the info. I did go to the CAS section and see that there are different levels of cards (Lucky, Hot, Golden & VIP). Since this is our first time on NCL and we booked through/because of a land based casino do they start us out with the Lucky card? I ask because according to their chart you have to be at least Hot to get the free drinks and this was one of the perks they told us we would have.

  3. We absolutely love the Breakaway so if thats offered were in our glory, we don't even care where we go.. Your going to really like NCL, its os easy…

When I called to say we were going to be at Mt. Airy on the 31t, they didn't really know what I was talking about at first. Did you speak to Rich? There was so much noise in the background, Im not even sure where we need to go… Have you done this before? Maybe we'll catch you there..

We had the same thing when we called the last time. They had a set up in the club that's inside the casino. Once you RSVP that you are going, when you get there they will have a brochure with a piece of paper that has your name and certificate # and a listing of the sailings. You don't make any reservations there, you take it home and call the CAS number on the sheet. When I called and asked about Thanksgiving on the BA I was kind of shocked that it wasn't a black out date and so was the women who booked for me. Since it is a Bahamas & FL cruise and leaving NY in late Nov we decided to stay with the inside, although I am nervous about the room being too small and we have never sailed inside before but with this itin. we didn't think we would get much use out of a balcony and for the price, I am willing to give it a try.

  4. Did that include the taxes and port fees?

Mt. Airy gave us an inside and for a 7-day it came to approx $300/pp for 2 people without insurance or grats and free drinks in the casino. Their insurance was $29/pp and grats are 12/pp per day. To upgrade to a balcony it was an add'l $300/pp and the insurance charge would increase to $59/pp but grats stay the same. Upgrading to a ocean view was somewhere between $80/pp to $150/pp depending on the room. We also booked the BA for Thanksgiving. It will be our first time on NCL. We will also be at Mt. Airy on the 31st to pick up the certificate.

The last certificate listed 13 sailing to choose from and 1 was a 4 day and the other 12 were 7 days, all insides and included a Bahamas itin., a Bahamas & FL itin, a Bermuda, 3 Canade & NE sailings 6 Caribbean and 1 Mexican Riviera sailing. I think we got the certificate in Feb/Mar 2014 and the cruise had to be reserved by 5/8/14 and you had to sail by 3/8/15.

    Hope this is helpful

  5. We just received a postcard telling us we received a free 7 day NCL cruise guaranteed from Mount Airy Casino.. The card states we have to pick up or prize on a certain date at Mount Airy PA.. Anyone else get this? Anyone know if its for real? Should I be singing the happy song?

    Thanks...

Yes, it is for real. We actually booked this cruise from a previous mailing from them and we also got the current mailing to pick up another. It was for an inside room and like Daghis said it runs approx $300/pp and to upgrade to balcony was additional $300/pp. They will give you a list of ships and you have to book within a certain time window.

  6. Bob it's The Explorer of the Seas and the 26/07/15

I too suffer from sea sickness but like others, highly recommend Bonine and starting it the day before sailing. I have sailed Explorer many times and found decks 7 or 8 mid to aft the best. I will not take a room that is in front of the hump, just the hump and rooms behind it. Hope that helps you. BTW, I did stay in a JS on the hump on deck 9 and was fine as well.

  7. I went looking around for a Quantum of the Seas dining chart and I found none. I'm sure RCI will put one out eventually, but I guess I'm impatient, so I made my own. I'm sharing the link here to anyone that would like to use it (hopefully CC is okay with this).

Quantum of the Seas Dining Chart

If anyone wants to suggest edits, I'd be glad to make any that make sense to me. :) Feel free to share the chart with others, preferably with the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8K45qWkduXcc190WU5GcGRQZE0/edit?usp=sharing .

    Enjoy!

    {Had to share the FULL link instead of the shortened link. **SIGH**}

Thank you so much for this, I really appreciate the work you put into it.

  8. Did not realize it but we are getting a two person in a specialty restaurant, port day only on the Navigator as a gift from our TA....

What specialty restaurants does the Navigator have and what do you recommend we do to be the most bang for the buck so to speak? Thannks

I would also vote for Giovanni's but will try Sabor on my Navigator cruise instead since I have never been there. Also, if your voucher is like mine, there is a cap on the amount and I believe that Chops, with their new price & menu, might be over that amount.

  9. Thankyou all for your well thought out ideas;advice;opinions ~ really appreciate it and all very helpful! Travelplus, thanks for such a long, well thought out response with great advice on cruising!

I personally would love to go on a longer cruise, but since we are leaving the kids at home and already would have had a summer vacation, my husband can't really take more than 5-6 days off work. Plus, we both really want to go to Bermuda ~ and I figured this would be a great way to introduce him to cruising, plus we will be able to see Bermuda for 2 days.

I told him a land vacation there for 5 days would be much more expensive between airfare, hotel, food, drinks, etc. I really think he will end up really enjoying it. At least I hope so!! (and if he doesnt then I will have to call you firestation46!!):p

Great idea about decorating the room ~ I might look into that!! Another idea I thought of (after reading all this feedback from you) is when my husbands parents ask what to get him for his 50th I will tell them the drink package for our cruise!! That might be an idea, but first I have to check how much it is.

I think Sherlock asked our age group ~ my husband will be 50!

And lastly, RSkeesburg, since you did the exact same type of thing for your first cruise ~ did you end up liking cruising??

    Thanks again everyone!!

Definitely stay with the JS. We always book D2 but our last Explorer cruise in Dec was our first JS and my DH absolutely loved it, it's going to really hard to go back to the D class.

  10. My DH gets motion sick but does well with Bonine. My question is, if we can't get a stateroom midship, is their less motion in the back of the ship rooms or in the front of the ship? Thanks.

I too get motion sickness and take Bonine. We always stay mid-ship or toward aft and have stayed primarily on decks 7 & 8 (Voyager class) and have not had any problems.

  11. I have seen the MDR menus online. What is the order of the MDR menus? We will be on the ship when it goes to Cozumel, Jamaica and grand caymen. I'm trying to decide what nights we what to do our specialty dining. Thanks for the help!

I am interested in this as well. So hopefully my post will bring this back to page 1 and someone will come along and answer :)

  12. Thanks so much for following along & taking time to comment! I appreciate your compliments.

And yes, as Sulross indicated, first seating is at 5:30pm. It's a little early but late time is too late for us & we prefer MDR over MTD. Plus if we get hungry later on there are many options for a snack, including my favorite - cheese plate & glass of wine on the balcony ;)

I agree, I prefer to eat early but will be with others who would prefer after 6pm. I love the cheese plate, it is one of my favorites too, especially with wine :D

  13. Hi everyone,

Just came across this forum today while doing some research and thought I'd throw some questions at some of you more experienced guys. This forum is pretty overwhelming, so I apologize in advance if these questions have been asked before. I just wasn't able to find out enough from searching.

I've been planning for my girlfriend's birthday since last September (her birthday is in June), and since it's her 30th birthday, I really want to go all out (as much as I can). I booked a balcony on a 7-night eastern Caribbean cruise on the Allure of the Seas, which happens to leave right on her birthday. Great timing! She's never been on a cruise before, and we've talked about going on a cruise many, many times over the years. I thought this would be the perfect first cruise for her.

With all of that said, I'm trying to plan out some things to help make sure the cruise goes smoothly. We have MTD, and I'm trying to plan our reservations each night around the shows that I have us reserved for. From what I've gathered reading other threads, dinner tends to take between 1.5 and 2 hours. If we have a show at 9:00 p.m., what would be the latest time we should reserve a table for dinner given that we need to get to the show venue with a comfortable amount of time to get decent seats? Would a 6:45 p.m. reservation be sufficient to enjoy dinner without having to rush through it and make it to the show with enough time to get good seats?

Another aspect that I'm trying to factor in is how long it takes to get out into open water from the port in Ft. Lauderdale. We're scheduled to leave port at 5:00 p.m. I'm sure we'll want to watch from one of the higher decks as we leave port and get out into open water, so I don't want to schedule dinner too early where it interferes with being able to do that.

Any and all info would be a great help! I really want this to be her best birthday present ever! :D

Oh, and how are many of you creating your customized cruise countdowns in your sigs with a profile image of the cruise you'll be on? I'd love to add that to my sig.

    Thanks!

We picked 6:30 for MTD and it worked out well. I think one night we had to change to 6:00 for an 8:30 show. Keep in mind that people arrive at the shows 45 mins to 1/2 earlier to get better seats and you probably don't want to make a mad dash to your shows from dinner since they tend to be on the opposite side of the ship from the dining room.

St. Thomas and St. Maarten are very easy to navigate on your own. Both are friendly islands. We love Meghan's Bay on St. Thomas but it does not have snorkeling. Maho Beach on St. Maarten, which is a few steps away from the airport is a must see.

I am sure whatever you do you will have a great time.

BTW, in case you don't already know, there are 2 formal nights on the cruise.

  14. When r u going on your cruise ? We are going March 1st.

We aren't going until October but with all this cold and snow we have been getting, I am trying to keep warm thinking and planning for the Caribbean :)

  15. We are going there on a March 1st cruise. I E mailed the beach and they E mailed me back. It looks great. Plenty to choose from for the lunch too.
