  1. my uncle couldn't find his passport for his panama canal cruise on feb 15. He was to fly out on friday the 14th and realized late tuesday night the 11th that he couldn't find his passport. He called his ta at 10pm and she advised him to immediately call the houston passport agency for an appointment. They are available 24/7 at the toll free number to make the appointments. He got an appointment for 11am the next day (wednesday). The process was completed by noon. He went back on thursday morning at 9am and picked up his new passport. Luckily, he still had time to edit his princess online check-in.

He got home from the passport office and went to make a copy of the new passport and found the old one on the flatbed scanner! Lol

    lol!!

  2. I was in PR on a week vacation(non-cruise) with my wife and 9 yr old girl. We are not beach people but there are no beached walkable from the pier. In fact we stayed at Sheraton Old San Juan which is right across the cruise terminal. Our private guide on day 4 took us to Luquillo Beach which was great but far from cruise terminal. You can still do a quick 30 minute visit if you want but not worth that much time.

  3. Okay I am a frugal guy but I will be carrying some cash with me for emergency and other outside excursions which accepts only cash. Plus the fact that we are flying from L.A to FLL the previous day so cash may be required anywhere.

To keep it short, I want to know which banks have ATMs in W Caribbean itinerary which doesn't or charges the least in convenience fees if I have to use it.

To give you a background, we carried less cash during our Puerto Rico trip in december and we needed cash a couple of times and I paid through my nose to withdraw money from local branches. I just want to avoid that situation.

  4. We just did this on our dream cruise It was really a great tour remember carnival price matches too and there is a web site that offers same tour 15 pp less.

Can you please give me link to the competitor website? I tried twice to price match and it was declined saying the competitor had the tour 30 minutes less.

Other who say the tour is too long - I am honestly taking this tour cos its long and it drives you from the East coast of Belize to the Western border with Guatemala. Apart from just seeing these ruins, I get to see the real Belize and that I think is worth the money.

  5. Hey everyone,

We're leaving in 9 (jump up and wiggle wiggle... Single digits whooooo!) days with 3 yo ds. I'm thinking the turtle farm and hell. Curious about taxis. Are they in the same directions? Which should we hit first, I'm thinking Hell cause I know ds will get dirty/wet with the turtles? What should be the approx cost for the taxi? Will I have a problem getting a taxi back? Is it worth it to haggle with the excursion guys at the pier, or just do it alone?

If there is an excursions I should consider instead please let me know.. I'm open to suggestions as well (but I just don't think ds would be up for the stingrays this time around).

    Thank you!!!!

Just yesterday, I booked the Stingray, Hell and Turtle farm Carnival excursion for 5 of us. The price seems to be comparable to what others offer.

  6. I have never understood why people buy alcohol from ports or foreign countries or duty free shops(which is BS). I live in L.A and souther CA has so many options to buy alcohol at great deals..like Costco, BevMo, Vons or Ralphs etc.. I have never found alcohol cheaper outside the SO CA area. Can someone give me an example where alcohol is really cheap?

  7. A little dramatic don't you think? I get the concept of not introducing a pest, but that means the food on the ship is potentially harboring a pest? Really? That doesn't sound right.

Does anyone think the real reason the ports don't want you to bring food off the ship is to make sure you spend money on food in their country?

You got it right..Thats precisely the point. The whole pest thing is BS. You know if you can inject fear into people, you can control them. Thats what is happening to most folks here in the US.

  8. I did the manatee swim and it was the best. I went to Chankanaab on my own and I was the only one in the pool with them. They let me stay as long as I wanted. I say when a 900lb animal grabs your leg and begs for lettuce, give it to him. The guides were very informative and the animals are well cared for.

Good to know. Can you let me know how to got to Chankanaab from pier? We will be in carnival in April so I am guessing it will be Puerto Maya dock.

  9. I am thinking I will skip the Discover Mexico park and head with family in a taxi directly to Chankanaab. Me and daughter are interested in doing the zip line inside the park..anyone done this before?

We are 5 people(4 adults,1 kid) and assuming its about $12 in one taxi to the park...anyone recently done this?

  10. And yes, depending on your fitness condition and the heat, you could walk. It's further than 500 yards though. Maybe 1.5 km to actual entrance, plus walking from ship and through port shopping area. I don't recall the condition of the sidewalks, if any past Puerta Maya, but would highly suggest you cross the road at PM before turning right and walking down. You might inquire with DM about any shuttle service they may have to and from the pier. I believe they still offer discounts to Chankanaab Park and a shuttle service to there (it's about 3 km further down).

Thanks for info...anyone else has any comments? Is DM worth over Chankanaab or should I do both?
