  1. On an upcoming cruise I have more OBC than I will want to use. Am I correct in thinking that none of the HAL provided OBC (shareholder credit, welcome home, onboard booking, etc) is refundable, but all of a travel agent provided OBC is refundable? thanks.

  2. On the Prinsendam, cabins 030 to 037 are category SY and there are blocks of SS cabins both forward and aft of this SY block. Does anyone know why they are a lesser caregory? There doesn't appear to be noisy venues below or above. They are near the elevators, but it appears there are some SS just as near. if elevators are the answer, just how much of an issue are they? thanx

  3. We've cruised quite a bit, but our Feb 2 Regatta trip will be our first on Oceania. So, a few questions:

    - We're in a PH3. How many other cabins will our butler have and will she/he have an assistant?

    - Our documents say embarkation at 11:00. Is that the check-in time or will it be earlier? Are they usually on time in Miami?

    - Will the shore excursion desk be open on embarkation day and what time?

    - We have the house select beverage package. Where can I see a menu selection?

    thanx

  4. Have been on both Prinsendam and Oosterdam in the last 9 months. Both have the Lido Market where sandwiches were ready made. On both, the bread was really good. Don't remember about the Oosterdam, but Prinsendam had a pannini press for toasting. I was a real fan of the made to order sandwiches and didn't think I would like the ready made, but they were better than I had expected. But this is a very subjective thing -- matter of taste.

  5. I just returned from Athens and used the X80 bus to get to the city. I can't say for sure when the service will shut down for the winter season but it worked out great for us. Very easy in fact. We docked at gate 11 with a Royal Caribbean ship. I could see gate 12 with a ship from Germany docked there. From our ship we rode a free shuttle bus which was parked right in front of the ship to the main gate. Then when you exit the port just stay to the left, along the edge of the water. You will actually turn into the parking area where the tour buses will be parked. That's ok, just stay to the left as you walk through the parking area and you will exit on the far side almost right next to the ticket booth to buy your ticket. The ticket booth had an attendant so that was easy to do. Once you purchase the ticket for 4.50 euros per person walk along the main road, up the inline just a little ways, maybe 20 yards and you will see the X80 bus sign. The bus itself was clearly marked with an X80 sign. We left at 8:30 and it took us about 45 minutes to get to Athens. We got off at Syntagma Square. There is an earlier stop for those going to the Acropolis. Our pickup point was at Syntagma square by the McDonalds. There is a sign for the X80 stop plus another sign letting you know when the bus will arrive with real time updates. We left Athens at 3:30 pm and it took us 30 minutes fro the return trip. The return trip was crowded with many having to stand all the way back to the port. It worked out great for us so don't be afraid to try it. it could not have been simpler.

Is gate 11 at terminal A or B?

  6. A CC search tells me that bus X80 quit running for the 2015 season on Oct. 31. Does anyone know if it will be running on Oct. 20 this year? Is there a shuttle running from the terminals to where the ship docks. I don't know yet where my ship will dock.

  7. We have 4 picked need 1 more or we loose out as I understand it.

Question is once we get on board can we change them around?

    This is O life promotion.

Also trying to decide whether to do Peggy's Cove/Halifax via o tour or use car I already have rented. Is there lots more to see doing on own?

Thanks in advance, I know this is minor compared to Matthew and issues but gotta decide..

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Two years ago I was deciding between car rental or a tour. I chose the car rental and was glad I did. As soon as we debarked, I headed for Peggy's Cove, which was an easy drive. We had the place pretty much to ourselves for half an hour before the hoards of buses started arriving, which dramatically changed the beauty and tranquility of the place. Then drove and toured the fort (they had guides). Then drove to and toured the signal station. Would never have been able to do all those things on the tour bus and much more enjoyable visit. Done DYI in several ports and some lend themselves to it better than others and this is one of the best.

  8. So you got the VISA in 2011 but never went to Brazil is that what you are saying??

We used the visa. I don't understand the point of your question. Hopefully, you're not suggesting it may be a single entry visa. I've heard some countries have single entry visas, but no mention of this is made on the visa. thanx

  9. I thought with Brazil the Visa had to be validated in Brazil within 90 days of the date of issue ??

    Is it different now ?

This isn't true, is it? We have visas issued in 2011 and valid for 10 years. We're planning to use them to travel there in Feb. I was taken aback by this comment since I know obtaining visas (it's not just Brazil) can be a hassle and time consuming and besides we're going to Europe in Oct./Nov. and will need our passports. Any truth to the 90 day thing? thanx

  10. The Royal was scheduled to call in Istanbul in May and June. With many of the cruise lines canceling this port call and some ships doing abbreviated stops, I'm wondering whether the Royal actually stopped as scheduled. thanx

  11. The Eurodam was scheduled to call in Istanbul in May and June. Did she actually make those calls? I seem to remember reading on CC that she made a brief stop in May to embark/disembark passengers and crew. Is that true and did she make her June calls as scheduled? We're on the Prinsendam in Oct. and suppose to stop there. Final payment is due soon and I need to make a decision to definitely go and if HAL seems to be canceling this port it possible could influence that decision. thanx

  12. I upgraded to Windows 10 a while ago. You can import all your favourites/bookmarks from your previous IE. click on the little bar on the far right end corner at the top of the screen and I think you should be able to find it.

I HATE losing sites I need.

Which ones are you looking for? Cruise Timetables? CruiseTT?

Just checked cruise tt and it gives me what I need. thanx

I think cruise tt was one and not sure of the other. thanx

  14. I upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of months ago and in the process lost all of my bookmark favorites. I lost two sites that listed ports of call around the world and the dates which ships were calling there. Can someone please post the addresses of such sites. thank you.

  15. We'll be on our first river cruise in August -- a Viking Russian river cruise. We're wondering how dressy the evenings are. The brochure suggests a couple of evenings are dressier than others. Will most of the men have jacket and ties, jackets and open neck shirts or no jacket at all? thanx
