I take Ziploc bags and after we load our plates we put it in the ziplocs and take it back to the Cabana for a private lunch

What a great idea!!! It was so difficult balancing our plates and walking back to our cabana. You definitely had the right idea!!! :)

We loved our cabana!! It may depend on the time of year that you are visiting to determine if it is worth it for you, but if going during the summer months it may definitely be worth it to lounge in the shade with the misting fans IMO.

  2. My DS got the BB.. he likes the fruit punch (they will make their own)

what does come out of a can is sprite zero.. and coke zero

He did take advantage of it.

My DH and myself brought 12 pks of diet pepsi.. (did have FTTF so didn't mind) also we ordered water 12 pks pre cruise too.

I'm definitely adding BB for my DS and DD- my son is 14 so it's worth it for us to just prepay for BB instead of getting the tab at the end of the cruise for his drinks. I do wish the BB included milkshakes/coffees, etc- I think it would be worth a few extra bucks to allow him and my DD to get bottled waters, milkshakes and stuff like that.

  3. We leave our passport in the cabin safe. I don't feel comfortable having it with me on a beach.

I agree! I leave our passports in the safe because it would be my luck to lose it while in port :(

I think the logical thing to do if you are unsure would be to take a pic of the passport with your phone. Leave the actual passport in the cabin safe and then once safely back onboard delete the pic.

  4. I've asked this before and noticed someone else asked it on this thread and never got an answer. Does anyone know of any drinks priced at 50.00 or near that? I figure if I order one of those everyday I'll more than get my moneys worth.

I believe there are some brandy or cognac that may be up there in price ;) Probably not going to find too many that cost $50, but the top shelf liquors like Grey Goose, Hennessy, Patron, etc. all cost more than the previous $10 limit so it's nice that we can order them now if we want.

  5. I had it on my last cruise. I think I got my monies worth. It was fun to try drinks I normally would not.

I love getting the Gatorades to take off the ship. I did get a milkshake just because I could. Bottle waters were great to have throughout the day helped with heat and the drinking.

I love not worrying about how much the drink would cost me, how much my bill would be at the end.

I tried it, not sure if I would get it again...depends on if I'm cruising with just adults.

If you are a heavy drinker and or can really hold your liquor then I say purchase it for sure!!!

I agree- I think just the fact that I could try new drinks and not be worried if I would like it or not- makes it worth the cheers program for me. In the past I would order something that sounded good- and end up not caring for it. But- after paying $10 for the drink I didn't want to just throw it away, but now if I don't care for it I can just try something new. ;)

Seems pretty easy to hit the break even point- 2 drinks during the day, 2 drinks at dinner in the MDR and maybe 2 or 3 drinks in the evening during the show or while at piano bar- I can definitely see this working out for me and I'm not a heavy drinker by any means. Then add in milkshakes, specialty coffee drinks, bottled waters, energy drinks, etc.- and this would work out better than break even for me and my hubby.

Quick question though- while in a US port we will need to add in sales tax, correct? I'll be on an Alaskan cruise so all of the ports will be US except Victoria BC. TIA.

  6. Hello!

I will be sailing on the Carnival Legend on April 19th, Hawaii to Vancouver. I can't find many posts about the Legend in my searches, but have a a few questions, if anyone has been onboard and can answer!

Has there been any information about when the Carnival Hub App will be available on the Legend? I used the app on my last two cruises on the Breeze and the Sunshine and loved it!

    Thanks a million!

According to Carnival- The App is scheduled to be available (subject to change) as follows: Carnival Legend on February 23; Carnival Liberty on March 5; Carnival Dream on March 19; Carnival Fascination - not yet scheduled.

So it should be available by the time you board on April 19th. Have a great cruise!!

  7. Another great item is a dollar store toothbrush holder. Instead of putting the toothbrushes on the shelf or a glass this comes in handy. Then I just leave it behind when the cruise is over :)

Great idea! I usually get the toothbrush covers but this year since we are all using new sonic care's that Santa brought us, I may just buy cheap toothbrushes and then toss them after the cruise. And I have seen some sold that include the toothbrush holder They had a set at Big Lots that had 6 toothbrushes (AIM brand) and the holder for $5! :)

  8. I enjoyed the alligator but heard later on it was not really alligator as it was not in season.

Ok...I'm a bit scared to ask...but what was it then if it wasn't alligator!!??

I really enjoyed the chilled bing cherry soup- it was like melted cherry vanilla ice cream. So yummy! And the pistachio creme brulee- very good also!

If you don't care for the entrees that night- you could just order a few different appetizers. Personally, I like to order something different than what DH is ordering so that we can each taste a new food, but don't feel like I wasted food if I end up not caring for it...

    Enjoy your cruise! :)

  9. Never cruised without DH, but have taken girls vacations- just my girlfriends and I heading to Miami (that was a fun week!! ;)), up to NYC or down to the ocean for a long weekends. He has taken guy trips without me as well (Myrtle beach for week long golf trips, AC for weekends, etc).

I trust him and he trusts me, so no issues there... and if given the opportunity I would go on a cruise without him. No guilt at all...I think I would feel more guilty over leaving my kids for the week then I would for leaving DH...;)

  10. We are booked in 5191 on Pride but we don't cruise until April. We chose that one due to other websites mentioning it is less "obstructed" when picking in that category. Last time on Pride we were in 5199 and loved the location - close to elevators, not far from Camp, etc...

    Have a great cruise!!! :-)

  11. I won't be on the Pride until April, but...

Is the aft pool adults only and does it have a retractable roof?

Where is your time dining seated in the MDR...there is only 1 MDR, right?

Where are the self service laundry rooms that are closest to main or upper decks?

On a 7 nighter, when is the second elegant night?

    Thanks!

Main dining room is on deck 2, but the entrance to the anytime dining is upstairs on deck 3- same level as the photo gallery and the shops. BTW- no bathrooms in the upstairs MDR. You'll need to head out and use the bathrooms by the lounge. A bit of a PITA but not a huge deal...

2nd formal night was last sea day on the way back up to Baltimore, IIRC...:)

  12. If you do not see a pizza with the toppings you would like- ask them to make it for you. You'll have to wait about 10 minutes for it and they will give you the whole pie (whole pizza pie, that is;)).

Sushi is only open during certain times (I want to say 4:30-5:30, but I could be mistaken). Check out the ice carving demonstrations- very cool! Also try to get into the drink mixology demonstration- lots of great yummy ideas.

On Deck 3- forward- is a very nice area. Hardly anyone goes there...some call it the garden (although all the plants are fake). It's a great place to read a book. I found it by leaving Camp Carnival after dropping off the kids- I just went right down those steps to see what was down there- and there it was...

The water slide is pretty neat. I am sure there is a minimum height to be allowed to use it, but I am not sure off the top of my head. Perhaps 45 inches? Anyway, it doesn't end in the pool, but is still fun. They will not open the slide on windy days...

Kareoke seems to be very popular on the Pride- it seemed that there was some version of kareoke going on almost all the time;)

If you have any questions just ask...

  13. What a great thread!! Although I must say that when going down the list quickly, it almost didn't look like you were asking to see aft...but another word that is used for a backend! LOL!!

Thanks for the giggle- it definitely made me do a double take...but I am looking forward to seeing more "aft" pictures so I can dream about the day I will be in one (((sigh...maybe one day!))) ;)
