  1. We were on Dream 4/3-4/10. We had the best room steward on deck 8 cabin 8370, his name is Made(mahday). Had no problem requesting twice daily room attending. Towel animals were there around 3pm, and our ice bucket was always full and placed in the fridge(which was really cold and we still had plenty of cubes the next morning). Easiest boarding and debark we've ever had with Carnival....on the ship by 11:45, off and at post cruise hotel by 8:30am. Had FTTF, but on arrival to our cabin we noted that it was not completely clean yet, we saw Made in the hall, told him and he got right on it and was very apologetic. Lines were not too bad on this sailing, except for Pasta Bella hard to find a table once we filled out our orders. Our sailing still had tablecloths each night, but I did notice the dining menu for the next sailing stated it was The American Table. Our main waiter seemed a bit stressed the last evening and didn't even come back to the table at dessert time, his assistant took our orders and delivered dessert and received the additional tip that we planned on giving the main waiter. We loved this ship and booked Magic for next year, only this time we are in a balcony far away from the Lanai hot tubs which got very noisy in the evening, mostly due to mid-teens having party time in them. Love New Orleans and look forward to sailing out of there again someday.

  2. You don't want to be perched over the hot tubs, outside BBQ station or Red Frog area, as well any indoor music venues.

    Check your deck plan carefully!

That's for sure! We had balcony 8370 port side on the Dream(similar deck plan as Magic with the lanai areas) and it was directly over the port side hot tub on the lanai and the lanai smoking area. Not very pleasant at times.

  3. PS- Regarding the lasagna, spoken about. Did it have chunks of roast beef type meat in it? I had some like that. Wasn't bad, just different. Couldn't decide if I liked it or not.

Yes, it was like an Italian pot roast layered with noodles, spinach, sauce and some cheese. I'm Italian and have never had anything like it. I really enjoyed it because it was different and not loaded with cheese and the meat was so tender it cut with a fork.

  4. This is a port side balcony cabin. On this ship, deck 5 is a lanai deck that protrudes out and has hot tubs that extend over the ocean. Port side deck 5 is smoking section and if you are not a smoker, you'll want to be on starboard, as the smoke drifts up to the balconies. This cabin is directly above one of the hot tubs and the noise can get a bit annoying, especially if a group of middle school children with no adult supervision decides to have a party in that tub! Or a bunch of drunks with potty mouths, had both on our cruise. We booked port side for the view going out of NOLA, but by the time you actually sail and the fact that it takes 8 hrs to the gulf, you're really not seeing much due to darkness setting in. I would book starboard next sailing on this vessel. Loved the cabin location on deck 8 as far as getting to Lido, and our aft Scarlet dining room. We usually book suites, but decided to do just a normal balcony this sailing and I was surprised that I really didn't miss having a suite, as long as I can get FTTF.

  5. We're sailing Dream in August, and it doesn't do American Table (yet). We were on Freedom last month and it DID have it...not a huge fan of American Table, but not a deal breaker for me at all.

We debarked Dream Sunday, 4/10, and I noticed the posted daily menu for the next cruise was the American Table(in BIG letters) Version. Commented to my husband that we just missed it!

  6. Glad your experience was good also.

I talked with a couple today that was on the same cruise and the man said he had done the survey and how bad of a score he gave the cruise. Guess it can be different for everyone. They really complained about debarkation. Guess it was who was in charge of your area. The lady doing our are was the best I have ever seen!!!!

We enjoyed the outdoor BBQ also. We only went Monday and got in line before it opened.

Towards the end of the cruise the kids started working on my nerves. It just floors me the way people let their little animals run wild. My dog behaves better than most of those kids. I know they paid a price and the kids can do as they please. I just managed to attempt to sleep through the hall running and banging at all hours of the night and wee hours of the morning.

This cruise had more positive than negative.[/quote

Yes, the lack of supervision was noticeable on this cruise. We had a group of 4boys in an interior across the hall from us. Parents were in balcony next to us(we only saw parents on embarkation day and last evening walking down hall to dinner). My husband had to get out of bed one evening and ask the boys to quiet down, they had their cabin door open and some young girls in their room, and the foul language and laughter were enough to wake the dead! Then after Nassau, one of the boys kept trying to blow his conch shell at all hours of the evening. Same kids left uneaten pizza crusts on the carpeting in front of their door(no plate, just on carpet) We did not let this hinder our enjoyment of the cruise, but will definitely try to book our next one when most of the kids have to be in school.

  7. Just off this same cruise. Loved the ship, was apprehensive due to size, but never had to wait in long lines for anything, except the second sea-day at the Lanai BBQ (guess everyone finally figured out where it was, and that the food was delish) Our room was on deck 8 mid/aft and the temperature was constant and very pleasant. This had to be the easiest embark and debark of all 7 CCL cruises. Had FTTF and were onboard by 11:45am, and off at our post-cruise hotel by 8:30am, Food was very good in dining room, nothing special on Lido. Pasta Bella was a first for us and we loved the choices. I've never had lasagna like that before! Did the Behind the Fun tour and have a whole new appreciation for the ship's staff and what they do for their guests onboard. Not sure if I'm a fan of the deck 5 hot tubs being right under the balconies, had some noise issues a couple of days when a bunch of middle school aged kids with no adult supervision decided to have a party in the one directly under our balcony. It's been a while since I've heard such vulgar language coming from such young people, and mostly girls!! All in all, it was a very nice ship and we will probably sail her again sometime.

  8. Just off the Dream, Sunday 4/10, had no problem checking twice a day service. Always had 4 towels, 4 hand towels and 4 wash cloths available. Ice bucket was filled and put in fridge everyday and our fridge was cold enough that there was still firm ice the next morning. Towel animals were on bed early afternoon. I had marked "anniversary" when I booked (number 10) and received a $25 wine card and plate of chocolate covered strawberries/pastries on the 4th day, nice surprise from Carnival. The room stewards have enough to do and shouldn't have to worry about cleaning up half eaten pizza crusts and melted ice cream cones off the hallway carpets, these were not on plates, but directly on the carpet in front of the door of the room across from ours. Dining room service was very slow some nights, and the head waiter did not even come back to our table on the last night after serving the main course, his assistant delivered dessert.

  9. I wasn't going to book one this year due to getting Invisalign braces and the fact that you cannot eat or drink anything but water when they are in your mouth, and have to take them out, eat/drink, brush/floss before inserting them back in. But, my best friend passed away in January, total shock, and 2 days after her memorial I booked a cruise, life's way to short to postpone due to inconvenience!! 25 days until the ship departs from New Orleans:):)

  10. I agree that the ventilation system should be upgraded. I enjoy the casino and just booked a cruise on the Dream with a casino rate, but will not be spending much time in there if it's as smoke filled as our last cruise on the Liberty. Most of the smoke on that cruise was coming from the crowd around the band playing in that area and not from those who were gambling.

  11. We had one there in January on our Liberty cruise. For our group of 4, it was just a nice place to store our stuff while we were in the pool or shopping. The A/C was nice for cooling down after walking around. We never did order any food or drinks, too expensive. If I had my mom with me, this would be a great option. You can leave the front doors open, and sit in the shade and people watch.

  12. We sailed Liberty 1/16-1/24-2015, and enjoyed the new menu. Hubby had the flat iron steak several evenings, the ribs and the lasagna also. He's a picky eater and he had positive comments on each meal. I thought my beef wellington was delicious, meat was rare the way I like it, and was very tender. I loved the popcorn flavored dessert! The pies were horrible, their pastry chef needs to go back to school and learn how to make a good crust. My cousin had the apple pie the first evening and disliked it, I had peach pie and there were all of 3 itty bitty pieces of peach inside, most of it was a gelatin type filling. Tablecloths were still on tables. The only thing that really surprised me was I noticed when the wait staff was clearing the table next to us and setting up for the next guests, they replaced the un-used wine and water glasses back on the table, which to me seemed very unsanitary. They used to come and take away the glasses that you weren't using, now they sit there the entire meal. We met a gentleman at sea day brunch who commented on the same thing happening at the late dining time also.

  13. I've ordered for our last two cruises and the one coming up in 2 weeks. The bottles are huge and last all week, for us it works out well. We can make our drinks as strong/or light as we want. We bring our Coca Cola in the carryon(love those small cans).
