  1. The last time I was on a Regent ship, I was also able to cash travelers checks in the casino. I enjoy the casino, but I'm not always really lucky; don't want to travel with a lot of cash, so the travelers checks were a handy way to have a losing day.

It's been a few years, but I imagine that if I sail again, I'll get some more travelers checks.

  2. I have to tell you just how easy this is. The last time I sailed on a RCI ship, I lived at a different address, had a different phone number, and a different email address.

I emailed Customer Service, simply to ask how I should go about finding my C&A number; ALL I provided at that point was my name.

Three days later, I got an email (with an apology for the "delay") providing me with my C&A number, and my husband's, whose name I had not provided.

    I was so impressed.

  3. My husband had to use the ship's doctor twice, both times on Navigator. The first time, he had gotten a blister on his foot and because he had diabetic neuropathy, he didn't feel it. By the time I saw it, it was worse than infected. The doctor was a young woman from Turkey; she created a sterile surgical field immediately, and did surgery on his toe. He saw her twice a day for the rest of the cruise, and then his own doctor until it was well. I don't remember the charge, but it was very reasonable. The second time, he went into a diabetic/insulin coma as we were pulling into San Juan. The nurse came to our cabin and diagnosed the problem almost instantly; she called Code Blue and had him taken to the medical clinic. They hooked him up to IV glucose for 15 or 20 minutes, and he was good to go. I didn't know that he was still taking any kind of diabetic medication, he had lost enough weight that he didn't need it any more. He stopped taking it.

Both times we were very impressed. His private insurance didn't cover the charges, travel insurance did after private turned us down.

  4. I have a question, if somebody who is onboard or has recently been onboard doesn't mind answering. At tea in the afternoon, what is spread on the cucumber sandwiches? I am in the midst of a discussion with several Downton Abbey fans, and we are debating that question. I would so very much appreciate it if you would investigate and let me know.

  5. We docked there recently on RSSC's Navigator. I didn't go ashore, but there is a fairly large metal building dockside that had a Craft Market set up inside. There were some people dancing, and as we left, about 35 cabs came in one after the other, parked, and honked and waved.
