We had an unexpected "magic moment" last night in the Atrium. The pianist was playing "Time to Say Goodbye" and we heard someone singing along with him. We looked l around us but couldn't identify the singer as many people were wearing masks. Eventually we realised it was coming from deck 6. One of the Provence Restaurant Managers has a very fine voice indeed! It was just lovely.
I know who you mean, when we were on Coral he came over with several other waiters & sang a full rendition of the Elvis song Can't help falling in love, brought his Bluetooth speaker as well. It was for our 40th wedding anniversary so it was very special 🥰 I think his name was Hector.

This big kid loves water slides - why should kids have all the fun. I'd do the flow rider on a surfboard if it wasn't for Arthur Itis stopping me from getting to my feet. Pack my boogey board perhaps? (so long as they don't put it through a scanner on boarding).😨
Love your spirit. We are in our 60s & would give them a go. I have seen footage of someone using a body board on the Flowrider before. Why should we all define ourselves by our age. Life is too short to limit ourselves.
Enjoy.

So Quantum of the Seas is now releasing a few hundred Covid cases into the Qld population. Should all go in to quarantine in that camp Anna P built up there.
I understand your concern, but you don't even have to test or isolate on land so why should people coming off a cruise ship be any different?

I'm not sure. They did check what my genereal health was like and what meds I was on in case of contra-indications. I had to stop taking one while on the anti-virals.
I think most of the passengers on this cruise are seniors anyway.
I was just wondering as we had covid end of May & my husband took a month to get over it. He is an ex smoker & everything always goes to his chest, hasn't smoked for 30 years now though.

3 cruises for a total of 45 days. Last cruise was in 2018. If they keep up these last minute prices next year, I'm in.😁
Thanks for that. I'd be in too if I could get a deal like that.

The Cruise Passenger article is up online. They've been very accurate in quoting me.
I just read it. I love your attitude.
I'm wondering do you need to have pre-existing medical conditions or be over a certain age to get the anti viral meds?

We haven’t stayed there yet but have a look at Kingsford Smith hotel - they do a shuttle to the new cruise port
We have stayed at Kingsford smith several times. They are compact but very clean. It's an easy walk across the road & you are at Portside the old cruise port with plenty of food outlets & restaurants even a little supermarket & cinema. Great walks along the river as well.
Enjoy.

$4,000 is a whole new cruise to me.
I will pay a bit more for a balcony but not double. I don't think it's double the enjoyment.
We just got a 13 night on Princess to NZ in Dec 2022 in an obstructed oceanview for $1,100 each.
$2,200 TOTAL.
What a great bargain 👌
We don't have those kind of Princess prices out of Brisbane sadly.

But not great if you got Covid early in the cruise and were confined to the inside cabin for a few weeks.
No way Jose.
It's now 5 days cabin confinement if you have covid, though probably won't even be that for long as you don't have to isolate on land.

Inside cabin, gty, not for me, I could get one of those for $1900 but cannot handle an inside. Tried it once, like being in prison, lol.
Not like prison at all because you can open the door to freedom 😁

We have used the P1 section of Wilsons Parking at the BICT for two cruises already. We were very happy with it. We were able to choose our parking spot. We wanted the cover to protect from hail. I believe that it falls pretty well straight down because of the weight of the ice, whereas rain often drives in at an angle.
I tried to book for our next cruise only to find that for P1 and P2, the spaces available for on-line booking are booked out. Bookings open 3 months ahead of the date. Our options are to pay more at Portside (an extra $60) or go to the BICT on the day and pay the casual rate that is higher than the on-line pre-booking price.
We have a cruise in March & as booking doesn't open until 3 months out for BICT I put a reminder on my phone. I figure if I can't book yet nobody else can.
We found it very convenient to park there last time.

What do you think of August as a month for doing this? I've booked for 2024 'just' from Sydney to Perth, around the top/anti-clockwise. Couldn't spring for the full circumnav.
That would be a great time to go weather wise & out of cyclone season. It would still be cool once you got to Perth, but that's better then stinking hot 🔥
I am looking at this cruise as well.

Scary-exciting!
There wasn't a lot of organising to do as we're getting experts at hopping on and off the ship. We did pack smart when disembarking the last cruise - we filled one suitcase with clean clothes and other things we would need onboard this cruise. So that made the rest of the packing a bit easier although we have had to fit in our cool weather clothes just in case plus supplies of stuff we use during the cruise - those good quality masks take up a lot of space! We ended up using an extra suitcase rather than squashing everything in. We didn't have time to get haircuts this time so will have to go to the ship's hair salon if we get too shaggy. Luckily we were able to get doctor's appointments today to get new prescriptions including some more Stemetil.
That's a lot to organise in a very short time I'd be stressed out.
Just get a haircut when you go ashore, would have to be a lot better value then the ship & there won't be a lot of up selling.

Keep checking, especially close to the embarkation date. We only booked this cruise last Thursday. we were on Coral at the time and grumbling about the Sydney weather forecast. Just for fun I checked this itinerary and found a perfect cabin to book. I hurriedly crunched some numbers then we raced down to the Future Cruise Sales Office and booked it. We went home on Saturday as we had a couple of things we had to do. We're now packed again and ready to embark tomorrow.
That would have been so exciting to organise at short notice.
