  1. We used to snorkel a lot when we were much younger in the Caribbean ( Aruba, Cozumel etc) and loved it...hence my name. We were not on cruises then but had flown down to the islands. We would bring our own mask and mouth piece with us. I would imagine that is what people still do. Thinking about a cruise that offers snorkeling and wondering if there is any age criteria. I think it would be rather like riding a bike, once you learn, you don't forget.

  2. We love Regent and have sailed on her three times ( Explorer and Splendor). We are thinking about trying Oceania in the PH 1 category on a Panama cruise. Not sure if it might be a good fit or might we be disappointed. We would love your thoughts since you have done both Regent and Oceania.

since the R ships are all the same in design (used to be Renaissance Cruises) no wonder Azamara and Oceania share the "bathroom" problems on those ships!!

New pricing structure could be wonderful.  We will find out.  However I have a suspicion that it is the first step in making Oceania "all inclusive" and the next step once that is done is to merge Oceania and Regent.  I don't have a problem with this...I have sailed both.  And since the license on the Regent name must be coming to an end one of these days it would make sense...

  4. Just wondering if anybody has been on the pre cruise ( 3 day) in Barcelona prior to sailing. If so what was your impression of the tour and value for the $$$? Right now I do not know the cost but wanted some feedback to help with the decision. We have only spent a half day in Barcelona and I know there is a lot to see and do. I am not sure if we are up to planning and doing it on our own being up in years. Thanks for your suggestions!

  5. Hi Flossie,

Yes, I did ask Regent and the answer was they don't know yet which hotel they will be using and won't know for quite a few months prior to the cruise. Yes, we just might take the credit and do what you suggested. I am not sure how to find out what that amount would  be. Any suggestions?

Yes, we have. I booked them in April. I did my best as this is a trip of “firsts” for us. First cruise ever, first time in Europe, first time with international flights across an ocean, etc. It has been a huge learning curve to figure out how everything works. Fingers crossed it all comes together for us.

You will love Regent and Europe!

  7. How does it work if you take the one night hotel credit prior to the cruise and instead book a different hotel ( adding on a couple of extra days)? Will you need to get your own transfers to that hotel from the airport and from the hotel to the ship. I would imagine that is how it works.

  8. Hi Loriva,

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to go into all the details of your British Isles cruise. Honestly, now we are wondering if this cruise is really for us. We were on the Splendor in May from Barcelona to London and the bus rides were really starting to get old. I hope I won't get booted off this forum but another option we were considering was  river cruise in Europe ( have done two Danube and Rhine). Since it was a while ago I forget if there were a few ports where we could just walk off the ship. Decisions, decisions and yes a real first world problem :).

  9. We will be reserving our excursions for a British Isles cruise in a couple of days. The excursion that we would like to do in Belfast is the Titanic Trail. It is described as a strenuous activity. We are in our late 70s without any disabilities. Can someone who has done this excursion recently give us some idea of what might be entailed  to be labeled strenuous activity  ( lots of stairs, uphill climbs etc). Thank you

  10. Looking for some help on choosing excursions for BI cruise next year. To anybody who has taken this cruise( London to London) were there any particular excursions that you would highly recommend. The ports are ( Newcastle, Edinburgh, Ivergordon, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Dun Laoghaire Ireland, Belfast, Isle Of Man,

Ringaskiddy and Portland. No are not fond of long bus rides unless the excursion is really outstanding. We need to reserve this weekend and hoping for some advice. Thanks so much!

  11.  Any feedback on the tendered trips in the British Isles. Four ports on a British Isles cruise we are looking at early June,2024 are tendered ( Edinburgh, Ivergordon, Hebrides and Dublin). Are we looking at a potential for  really rough seas and how long are the tendered trips?

  12. jhenry1, I see your name often on Regent CC. We have taken three Regent cruises ( just finished up Barcelona to London on the superb Splendor )  and are also looking into this cruise line. I have to agree with BaumD that Regent and American cruise lines are probably apples and oranges although I have never been on ACL. You forgot to include that Regent also gives you ( free or included ) laundry service. I guess it's the old story of you get what you pay for.
