Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. In answer to your other post, if I was asked to define "reasonable decorum" for men I would say a collared shirt and slacks (and certainly no hat!). Interesting... I never would have considred Cunard (I really still don't). But....I looked up Viking @Sea and Cunard dress codes after your post and am surprised but pleased to see they indeed have seen the way of changing norms and traveller desires. But hey, again, if someone wants to dress to the nines, go for it. (Just don't load up the carry-on bins on my plane as you don't want to pay for extra checked luggage. 🙂). Here's what Cunard says now (though I believe they should have added pants and blouse for womewn, not just a skirt option!): https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/the-cunard-experience/what-to-pack Anyway, I'm done with posting in this thread. Folks have their various viewpoints and that's fine. I only would care if the cruiseline put on a must-do level I was uncomfortable with.
  2. I might have also added that we have a short HAL coming up but have only been doing Celebrity or Princess the last 15 years, mostly Celebrity. As I recall their “smart casual” dress code was a big part of that.
  3. I tried to edit my original post but failed. I expect HAL may have to soften that policy if they want to attract younger patrons. Even to retirees who have seen the evolving dress codes in offices and at other functions, including at weddings and funerals by some attendees (yours truly NOT included) the past number of years. No problem anyone dressing up or folks embracing tradition to which they feel comfortable and in good taste. I just think the dictation went a bit too strong. I think I do dress well and probably would like to up it a bit and wear a jacket and tie on a dressy-suggested cruise night as I have the clothes and get little chance now. However... I'm not about to pay extra and/or lug an extra suitcase or garment bag and worry about creasing etc. for a few hours parading in finery. Folks should feel comfortable as long as they dress with reasonable decorum. Especially from other posts in this thread that on other cruises they don't enforce codes in the MDR like those that wear ball caps ( and that "fashion" change certainly does irk me-not just on cruises!).
  4. Not than I'm planning a Grand Voyage, but that Formal night decree takes things back at least 20 years from societal norms now.
  5. I'm also nuts about golf BTW! Thanks. I'll take the Mophie one and probably a couple of regular Apple blocks just in case. One connectoer mzkes it so much more convenient though. Hopefully in a year or two everything will be a c connector out thanks to the Euro law change. I know these are on the expensive end. I don't go cheap though on electronics and now go with those sold by Apple. It's probably folks that packed non surge-protected power strips and cause shorts and firs that made it difficult for the rest of us.
  6. Sorry had to reload the pic before you posted. No not wireless, plugs into wall with regulated outlets. Sold by Apple too.
  7. Is this one ok? It's high a quality oner from Mophie. Or do I have to scramble to find one multi that plugs straight into the wall? i trust the Mophie.
  8. Solstice has not upgraded, correct? So if we decide to pay the dough to upgrade for Premium will we see a real improvement? We will be staying on the ship much of the time on the coming short cruise with three sea days and one port we will stay on the ship for, so reliable connectivity will be beneficial. Thanks.
  9. Will be glad when Apple soon uses c connectors for everything. However it sounds like Celebrity has seen the light and is now not removing quality multi connectors like our Morphie one below. ( I’m not taking about the cheap “outlet strips” that are a danger anywhere.) So I guess for our upcoming trip we will bring this block and a couple of standard Apple charger blocks ((in case they tell me to remove the multi block) and several c cords and a couple lightening for our phones. Maybe we will be lucky and ours has more outlets. We will be in Aqua 1670 at the very back of the ship.
