  1. This may be a stupid question, but anyway...

The fare they show on the fare viewer doesn't include taxes and port fees, right? Also, if I see a price that's lower than what I currently have booked what is the next step? Is there a form? Can anyone explain the whole process to this newbie :)

    Thanks!

  2. I'm looking for recent info on Atlantis and I can't seem to find any. We're a family of 6 and my husband and I have been to Nassau 4 times but our kids have never been. I would love to take them over to Atlantis just to see it and then spend some time shopping and stuff near the port.

What would be the best (cheapest) way to see Atlantis? Not interested in going in the pools, slides or beach, but I would like to be able to walk around the grounds, casino and maybe the aquarium area. What are our options?

    Thanks!

  3. Thank you. When I go into "manage my booking" under VIFP it has my email address, but the first person on each booking has our joint email address so I was getting emails from carnival to both email addresses. I had to call them just now to get it straightened out.

  4. My kids are younger (11 and 12) but we had booked Navigator, and I ended up switching to the Sunshine, and I'm glad I did. (Had this been only hubby and I without kids I've have certainly stuck with Navigator. But with kids...)

    1. More complimentary dining options. The windjammer gets really old at lunch, and on the Sunshine (8 nights) I never had lunch in the buffet. The blue iguana cantina is excellent (they serve breakfast, too) and we really enjoyed JiJi's and the pasta place. Of course guys burgers are pretty good too.

    2. More activity options for the kids. The ropes course was super fun for them, and much more difficult than expected. My kids loved the water slides as well. Whether or not your adult kids would enjoy that... maybe?

These are the EXACT reasons I just booked the Sunshine today :)

Although almost everyone suggested the NOS here, I think our family will enjoy the Sunshine more. Don't get me wrong, the NOS looks like a beautiful ship and I hope to sail her one day, but for our family right now and for a first cruise for our children, the Sunshine seems like a better fit.

  5. If I book under early saver, am I able to change rooms sometime before final payment without penalty? What if 1 person can't make it (I don't foresee that happening, but just hypothetically)? And if that 1 person can't make it we would have to cancel one entire room...if we book 3 cabins all with double occupancy. Then what?

  6. You should have no problem with that price range. I would book the cruise. No penalty if it needs to be cancelled. Looked at this April has a price indication is not a good comparison as prices this close to flight date are higher. When I booked a family of 5 from pro to fll 6 months out it was 960 for round trip. You'll be fine. Just research a lot before you book. I flew from providence even tho it was an hour ride from my airport because it was 600 cheaper.

    Enjoy

Yes, I definitely will look around. I have about 5 airports I can choose from that I am willing to drive to :)

  7. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has replied. I learned so much I never knew about airfare! I'm hoping to keep it under $300 pp which is what we typically pay (non-holiday). We'll be traveling the end of April so it won't be around Easter thankfully.

    Thanks again!!!:)

  8. I'm looking at a cruise next April (2017) and obviously air isn't available yet. So, to help me decide if I should book the cruise I'm looking at prices for THIS April just to see what the prices might be. They are actually really high! Now I'm rethinking the cruise I had picked out.

There are 6 of us so I'd rather not spend $500 pp to fly from Boston to Orlando

So, do you think prices would be comparable for the same time next year? I know many thing can affect pricing year to year but do you think it's a reasonable thought process, lol.

  9. Generally its just me and DH so I don't know, but those who have experience booking for multiple people - would booking 3 to a room solve that issue and then just switching one of the people back over once you get on board? Or too much hassle?

I tried that too ;) Still wouldn't let me.

  10. Doubt if you'll be able to book a quad for 2 people. Carnival has been enforcing occupancy restrictions for a while now. They hold the quads for bookings of 4 until late in the booking process. Try and fill as many berths as possible.

Definitely makes sense for them. Guess we'll have to book OV rooms then since there are no insides that sleep 4 without a trundle.

  11. I'm trying to book 2 cat 4J cabins on the Sunshine for next April. Two cabins, one of them with 4 people and one of them with 2 people. It's not allowing me to book 2 people in a cabin that can sleep 4. If I called Carnival directly would they let me?

I'm not set on the 4J cabin if I can't get it, but more importantly I'm looking for a cabin for the 4 that does NOT have a trundle bed. There's just something about making one of the young adults sleep on the floor that doesn't appeal to me....

  12. I thought 4J were the interior classed staterooms at the front of the ship with the small window.

and 6A were ocean views lower on the ship.

Fridge will depend on the ship. For example Triumph does not have fridges in the staterooms (this may change post dry dock). On the Freedom even interior rooms have fridges.

    Oops, my bad...I was thinking 6J's :/

    Disregard my reply

  13. Thank you everyone! Such helpful information. Right now, the NOS is actually about 200 cheaper than the Sunshine for 2 ov cabins. Us in one cabin, the "kids" in another. I'm also really drawn to the fact that Royal doesn't make all adults in a cabin purchase the drink package. I think one of the 3 young adults wants it but the other 2 wouldn't get their money's worth from it. Although not a deciding factor since I don't think any of us would do cheers on this sunshine sailing...it's too port intensive.

I also like the idea of 2 sea days as opposed to 1 :)

  14. My husband and I have cruise several times before, but not recently. Our children have never cruised and they will be going on this one :) They are active and I know they will like a ship with stuff to do (rock climbing, ropes course, etc.), which is why I chose these two ships. My husband and I have been to Nassau pretty much on every cruise we've been on, but again the kids have never been.

Sunshine has 3 ports (Half Moon Cay, Nassau and freeport), 1 sea day...we've been to 2 of the 3 ports

Navigator has 2 ports (Nassau and Cozumel), 2 sea days...we've been to 1 of the 2 ports

To me, they are pretty similar, but I've only every cruised Royal once a VERY long time ago. Is there something I'm missing that I should take into consideration? I don't know much about Royal and I plan on doing more research.

Has anyone been on both? Which would be the better first-cruise experience?

  15. I'll be surprising my husband with a cruise for his 40th birthday next year. I'm currently considering the Navigator or the Carnival Sunshine. Both 5 day cruises (this is a budget friendly trip since I have to hide the fact that I'm paying for it myself), and both right around the same price.

  16. I trying to decide between the Breakaway to Bermuda and Carnival Sunshine for my husbands surprise 40th birthday present. I'd love to leave out of NYC because it will eliminate the cost of airfare for 5 of us, but the only time we can really cruise is mid May. I'm a little concerned it will be too cold.

I've seen the "averages" for weather in Bermuda for May but I'm looking for personal experience. I understand weather and how it can always be different :) What about the first couple sea days? We're beach people and if I'm going to spend a ton of money on a vacation I don't want to be stuck inside a ship for the first 2 days because it's too cold to enjoy the outdoor activities.

Would it be smarter to just book a Caribbean cruise out of a southern port in May? Can you tell me your experience if you've cruised out of NYC in May to Bermuda? Thanks!
