  1. I live in Florida and hav cruised to most of eastern, western and southern ports with Carnival. Next year, Carnival has a cruise to bermuda. Do you think this is a exciting port to visit, or am I better off with the many places to visit in the Caribbean?

I do like visiting some beautiful beaches and exploring new places.

    Thanks for your advise.

You haven't lived until you have laid on a Bermuda Beach. We have hit most of the Caribbean islands and they all have places of beauty but nothing compares to the overall beauty of Bermuda.

  2. Destiny, Feb 2000. Valentines Day cruise for our "family" honeymoon with the kiddies. Was also our kids first cruise. We broke down dead in the water en route to our first port, San Juan. Had to be towed back to Miami. Compensation was reimbursement for cruise & airfare, several open bars, free excursions in Miami and 50% off another cruise! We choose a GS on the Triumph.

  3. You can order as many apps, entrees and desserts as you would like in the main dining room at dinner time. So many new cruisers thing they must choose just one of each and some waiters will not tell you otherwise.

My daughter was on MANY cruises with us as a child and into her teens, last year she took a cruise with her new husband (who loves to eat) and when I was chatting with her about their experience she said her hubby often left dinner kind of hungry so he wasn't a huge fan of MDR dinner. I said "Honey he could order as much and as many things as his heart desired!!" She had completely forgotten!

  4. I love porthole cabins but I personally would not take one on the Riviera deck. This is the lowest deck and as far as a pt goes it could get pretty loud in rough seas.

I have only taken a PT on the fantasy class ships (ecstasy) and was able to grab one on Empress deck (3 decks higher than Riviera) we did love it for the size & value, location not so much.

Hmmmm, Looking at the deckplan for Glory, the good news is the 4 PT cabins are NOT the farthest forward, the bad news is two of them are connecting and this can be bad as far as hearing more noise from your neighbors.

IF the cabin you are being offered is NOT one of the connecting it might be ok to go for it. Really depends on how much the $60pp means to you and what location you are giving up with your OV on main deck. Also, no couch in the PT cabins.

ETA - just saw your last post, YES there are couches in the PT cabins on glory! That's awesome! And 1216 & 1217 are the better choices because they aren't the connecting. All good news.

  5.

Thanks for the Miracle review (from cruisingnanny?) it was wonderful and helped in making my decision.:D

My Pleasure so glad you liked it! Bermuda is an incredibly beautiful island, you will love it!

Price drops on Bermuda cruises are far less likely than other itineraries but still check often, you never know.

  6. Just curious, never been to Bermuda only Caribbean and Europe, is first of October safe to do then? Have vacation property at Myrtle Beach and its always subject to hurricanes during that timeframe. Love to cruise in middle of fall when crowds are lower, but have never cruised to this destination. The 8-day trip sounds great with plenty of rest on the return trip. The price on the Sunshine sounds very reasonable also compared to the Splendor pricing (which is almost sold out anyway). Would you expect any price reductions booking this far out? Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks!:)

It is pretty much as safe of the rest of hurricane season and CAN be absolutely glorious!! We have cruised to Bermuda a dozen times or so with several being in Oct. Weather is still wonderful but not as HOT, water is warm, etc. One time we made the run when a hurricane passed by Bermuda (Ophelia I believe, see my Miracle review) it was still pretty wonderful. October cruising to Bermuda?? Absolutely YES!

  7. "For those of you who are saying it is rude to go back for dessert, I hope you have never eaten at the buffet for a meal and then gone back for a snack later. How rude to make the staff clean up after you again!! You should have taken your snack to go! Or... would that then be rude to leave that mess for your poor cabin steward?? Just silly!!!"

That's exactly what we do, we take it to our cabin and eat it later. At the buffet you wait on yourself. Do you order room service? What do you do with the empty plates?

Roll your eyes all you want but you just enhanced my point. No matter what you do, someone will be cleaning up your mess (even in the buffet!!) so why is one option wrong and another is ok?

OP, if the maître d says it is ok then by all means go enjoy. If you feel bad about using a MDR table twice per night you could consider increasing your tip by visiting guest services and requesting an additional amount be applied appropriately.
