  1. Thanks all. I think they reuse the bread. When my wife questioned the waiter, he said it was a mixup but I find it suspicious.

I also think that it could have come from a staff member who was chewing gum in the kitchen (a huge no no, for just this reason).

You are right though, it could be that a few servers practice this NASTY habit of recycling bread. Could be that they are too lazy to go get more, could be that they just hate waste, coming from a poor country that is understandable. BUT I assure you that the exec chef or the cruise line themselves ARE NOT advocating this practice, they have to much at risk if there is an outbreak.

BTW, MANY land side restaurants do it, gross.

  2. Wow! Things happen, but that is pretty unacceptable. I'm curious too, to know if they showed someone & what they said.

If they are reusing bread, no one is ever going to say so, but I think it is highly unlikely. That would make the top 10 list as a way to spread gastrointestinal illnesses.

  3. You have to play life my the %'s. You have a better chance of winning the lottery than dying in a cruise ship disaster.

Or: you could live in fear of everything. If that's your plan, good luck to you.

When you are prepared and informed, there is much less reason to be fearful.

  4. LOL..you're kidding, right???

I have never been to a muster where everyone took it seriously, jacket on or not. The seriousness of the drill is dependant upon the crew member standing before you. If they take it seriously and keep everyone in line, it's serious. If they are lax, so are the passengers.

It is pretty SAD and pathetic that for a pax to take their own safety seriously (and that of their family, wife, children, etc) it depends on the attitude of the crew member/s?! I am not sure I agree with that and I know for sure it isn't true for me. I could care less what the attitude of the crew is regarding the safety drill. I make sure I know what I need to know in case of an emergency and anyone who doesn't is simply foolish. Anyone who doesn't is also endangering everyone else, because they are going to be the idiots running around in a panic without a clue in the event of an emergency.

  5. oh, but how i always salivate when they come around asking if you want another tail. i'm always too embarrased to say yes after eating two plates of food. :o

I've never been offered a second lobster tail!! Waiter rolled his eyes at us for ordering the surf & turf combo!:( I could care less what he/they think (I know 99.9% of my life I am NOT a glutton, lol) but I was surprised he did this to us when it seems so many others order much more...

  6. never had more than 1, as i always order a surf and tuf double entree combo.

but one lady was boasting proudly recently that her son had 14, and she was quickly scolded and criticized for allowing such gluttony.

Did this for the first time on my last cruise! I enjoyed the combo very much, but it was A LOT of food!

  7. Just our opinion.. #1 is Celebrity for best service & food(slightly more upscale choices & excellent quality) #2 is HAL for the same reasons as #1. Tied for #3 is CCL & RCCL., almost always good to very good. #4 is NCL and #5 is Princess (only 1 sailing with them, probably just a fluke bad experience, but it was 'eh' MDR food & BAD service)

  8. Honestly, I much rather have them especially on the older ships add a specialty restaurant, take one dining room and it can easily be divided with divider inside and split the dining room...one side with comfort foods the other become a specialty restaurant and still have their dining room with the regular menu.

They cant just take away 1/4 of their no charge dining space & start to charge for it! When a ship is at full capacity the MDR's can pretty much just accommodate everyone. So if 1/4 of the passengers didn't choose the specialty restaurant or the buffet for dinner some people would be SOL for the "free" dinner.. Can you imagine??

  9. Cruisenanny, oops

They can make one dining room anytime time dining and have the comfort foods added to this dining room menu..... and keep the other dining room assigned time with no comfort foods?? What you think?

Im sorry but fried chicken and meatloaf belongs in the buffet not in a dining room along with the ribs, burgers and such.

I'm perfectly fine with these items as long as the regular items are there also. If they start to take them away then I would agree you have a point. I'm certainly not going to be offended by seeing them on the menu:p

  10.

I do have a solution since I have read other boards that many like these comfort foods....why not have a dining room just serving these comfort foods and another dining room continue the regular menu? Two different dining rooms plus having the buffet gives more choices to poeple I think passengers would like this.

    [/i]

Putting aside several other reasons why this probably wouldn't work, it would mean that approximately half of all the passengers would have to choose your comfort food dining room.... Ya think?

  11.

Carnival's website is not user friendly. Especially the excursions area. Once you look at a description it puts you back where you have to choose the port all over and it's so SLOW......

Right??? It's the worst!! Was trying to research excursions & gave up, it was very frustrating. Tried to read reviews & there were none there even though it would say there was, SUPER slow, no times listed, etc.. Could absolutely use some improvement.
