I shouldn't be surprised but just noticed that the "full price" for Mason Jar brunch on Wonder just increased from $24.99 to $34.99 so the standard 10% off pre-cruise price jumped from $21.99 to $30.99. 😭

At least I had it booked already for my next Wonder cruise but not the 2 after that.

It's a sad day for us Mason Jar brunch fans.

I'm glad I went ahead and made our brunch reservations after I read your Wonder review, and saved a few $ - we and our friends are looking forward to giving it a try!

  2. SoloAlaska - great loss! My exercise is mostly walking in the cooler temps of early mornings.

Susan - I'd say ice cream cones with your granddaughter was well worth staying the same!

    Belle - yes we can!

I lost 1 pound since last Thursday's weigh-in. We are going to our local Minor League's baseball game tomorrow night with some friends & family...the weather sounds nice so it should be a fun evening. Have a great weekend, everyone!

I fortunately have not been afflicted with the need to buy "cruise wear."   Sure, I buy new stuff when I'm taking a vacation, cruise, trip, etc.  But, if I can't wear it in my normal life at home, I don't get it. 90% of the time.  I did buy a dress last Spring to wear to my grand niece's Summer wedding and I haven't worn it since.  But that's not a usual thing.

    I still haven't seen a "sundress" rack at a store... 😉

Since retiring, I do fit more into this category I suppose. I did buy one clearance-rack sleeveless blouse a couple of weeks that I will probably only wear on a cruise or beach vacation. The other things I've recently bought are items I will definitely wear in my at home life.

$1200 is excellent savings, and I'd go with the guarantee in a heartbeat for that money!  Even if waiting does drive me absolutely crazy, and -- as my sailing approaches -- I check the computer like a madwoman.

We booked a guarantee for the first time back in April, for our upcoming October cruise and saved right at $1,000. Same - the waiting is making me crazy! 🤪

  5. Hello, I've done well with eating - we will see if the scales reflects it on Thursday!

I did have a rather encouraging "non-scale victory" on Sunday. I wanted to wear my white pants to church (I haven't worn them yet this summer), so I ironed them and put them on. They were too baggy to wear...last summer they were too tight to wear! 😊

  6. I'm happy to say that I'm down 2.6 lbs from last week, which is a relief because I had a 2 lb gain last week! I volunteered in the kitchen for our children's church camp that week and, well, you can guess the rest of the story! I am in WW (are we allowed to say that?) and reached my 1st goal a couple of weeks ago, so I have set a new goal of losing 10 more pounds before our October cruise.

Belle, that's amazing that you stayed the same on a 21-day cruise!!! 👏

And good for you too, Jan! That's a nice loss.

Izena, I'll take staying the same rather than gaining, anyday!

Nice work, ladies! Here's to another week filled with hope and good intentions 😁

@JustUs275If you do give it a try, please let us know how it goes. Similar to what poocher described, we're planning to book Izumi online for dinner in a few weeks for a future sailing, so would be interested in how it works.

I ended up calling RCI Crown & Anchor today and made the Mason Jar reservations for us and our friends (I had their reservation # too), since I wanted to make sure we would have reservations at the same time and with a table for 4. I did check availability online first and it only listed 1 available time for the day we wanted - when I called there were several more time options available for that day.

If you are just booking 2-3 totally separate reservations, you should be able to select times immediately.

poocher - do you know if this is the case for Mason Jar brunch? Not buying a package or any other specialty dining, just MJ. If I buy it online, will I be able to reserve the day/time as I'm buying it? We are traveling with friends and want to make sure we have the same reservation time.

  9. I have a love/hate scales relationship! For unexplainable reasons, sometimes I jump up a pound or 2 in a single day and then a few days later drop 3. Today I'm up 1.5 pounds, but I did go to a wedding shower yesterday. I ate mostly veggies, but I did have ranch dip with it and a few pieces of summer sausage/cheese with crackers. Then for dinner I had a serving of tortilla chips with my salad. I'm guessing the sodium is probably the culprit this morning. *sigh* I know I shouldn't weigh every day but it helps me be aware.

  10. Hello all, I have to get in the habit of checking in on Thursdays! I stayed the same this week. I lost a little during the week but it must have been water weight because it came right back the next day lol. We are enjoying beautiful, not too humid weather here. Walking is my favorite exercise, so I've been getting out most days. My mini-Aussie enjoys it too!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks.  This was the kind of feedback that is helpful.

For those that suggested Target, Walmart, and Kohl's, I know the definition of "decent length" varies.  Mine is significantly longer than yours (except that I didn't consider bike shorts because we don't think of those as outwear).  Kohl's jumping beans brand are a decent length but she just outgrew their largest size, leaving us with Land's End uniform shorts still available in her size.  It looks like that's the route we'll need to go to fit the harness though.

Hopefully the uniform shorts will work for her! Just wanted to say I understand where you are coming from as far as finding what I considered "decent length" and being able to wear them long enough to warrant buying them. Same for me as well when we were raising daughters. And now for my daughter raising her daughters!

First, you’re welcome. Focus on the word  “options” b/c there are many, without spending a Penny extra.

Obviously we ate in CK a lot, and most meals there were very good, but when my wife & I sail alone, it’s in an interior with maybe 2 specialty meals during the week. I’m actually looking forward to eating at mostly included venues on our next 2 sailings. Always been a Park Cafe fan for both breakfast & lunch, I enjoyed the tacos at El Loco Fresh, WJ is hit & miss but there’s always something, we’ll pay for Mason Jar brunch again b/c it was that good, and we loved Playmakers on Indy so we’ll likely have burgers there one night (there’s a fee, of course, but it’s not exactly Chops). Sorrento's is usually just a late night snack for me but even their pizza was better than usual (very thin & crispy) and my wife had one made for lunch one day (she orders it sauceless & crispy so it’s more like cheesy bread). Never even tried The Dog House which has been hit & miss on other ships. Another option, if the menu is appealing, is having dinner at Solarium Bistro one night. It requires a reservation but it’s free. My wife is too picky for it but she went with me one night a long time ago & I thought it was pretty good. Some unique Mediterranean options for sure.

I know I’m ignoring the MDR, which is a staple for most people not doing lots of specialty dining, but we haven’t been fans since way before covid or new menus so the negative comments don’t phase us. The few dishes that were sent up to CK seemed fine, not great & not horrible, which is kind of how we always viewed the MDR.

Just one man’s opinion, of course, but as someone who gains 7-10 lbs. on a 7-night cruise, I wouldn’t worry about the food.

We usually don't eat dinner in MDR anymore either - we tried it once last year and didn't go back. We usually do like WJ for dinner, and I definitely want to try Solarium Bistro! I'm almost convinced to try the Mason Jar brunch too, based on your review. We really like Park Cafe and Sorrentos - thin and crispy pizza sounds great! El Loco Fresh will be a must-try especially for me. WJ could be a disappointment though, because I've always enjoyed the wide variety of good choices. I am quite sure we will never find ourselves lacking for food! 😁 Thanks again!

  13. Hello everyone! I have lost some weight since February and hope to lose 12 more pounds before our October cruise. I'm feeling so much better physically and mentally - I don't even mind so much having my picture taken 😄. Maintaining after reaching goal is the hardest part for me, but we have another cruise booked for October 2024 so hopefully that will be extra motivation to keep it off this time! Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Gotta know what butter & bulletproof coffee mean??

It's a coffee recipe that is often used for keto/low carb diets where you consume higher amounts of fat and fewer carbohydrates. Coffee with 1/2 - 1 tbs of butter added, and sometimes people will add coconut oil or MCT oil. Spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice etc. can be added to enhance flavor without changing the nutritional value. A have a friend who loves her bulletproof coffee but it didn't appeal to me.

Hi cruisers!  Just transferred my many points from my Royal credit card, and I wondered where and when it will show up in my account?  thx!

I redeemed points from my Royal card this past Saturday evening. I received an email the onboard credit Monday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised and booked our excursions right away.

  16. I will find out how I feel about an interior, on our upcoming Wonder cruise. We have had balconies, a promenade, a CP balcony, and an oceanview. The oceanview cabin was definitely our least favorite - this was a few years back on smaller ship and forward on a lower deck with a tiny little porthole window and located right above the anchor. That was so noisy early in the mornings. I'm feeling a little anxious about the interior guarantee cabin...I booked it thinking is there even such a thing as a "bad" cabin on Wonder??? But maybe that was flawed thinking?
