  1. This is also the day the New Kids on the Block cruise comes home...maybe that has something to do with the possible delays? They are leaving today for a Bermuda run.

It's only a 4 night cruise with 1 day in Bermuda. Seems odd.

Maybe NKOTB need more time to get off the ship??

  2. i am very excited you get to go soon on your first summer cruise!

Thanks! We are super excited to be able to have warm weather when leaving and returning to New York! We froze our butts off last November during Thanksgiving week, staying out on our balcony until we passed the Verrazano! This time I can look at it from a lounge chair on the top deck, in my bathing suit and a frozen drink in my hand! LOL!

Thanks for the info guys about the smoking spots. I booked deck 10 spa and thought that once I come out through the doors to overlook the pool it would be outside (I'm used to Carnival ships like that ... Liberty, Victory) and was surprised after I booked it that deck 10, behind the jumbo screen, overlooking the pool, is covered! maybe I can just walk up to deck 11 (it's open air, right?) instead of going all the way aft or to the secret deck forward with the high winds!

  3. How much does it cost per person to purchase the spa for the week?

For guests who do not purchase a Spa Stateroom but would like to use the Thalassotherapy Pool and Thermal Suite, we offer day and week long passes that can be purchased on board at the Cloud 9 Spa.

    · Daily Pass: $40 per guest

    · Passes for Cruise Duration:

    6-day cruise: $139 per guest / $239 per couple

    7-day cruise: $149 per guest / $249 per couple

    8-day cruise: $159 per guest / $268 per couple

  4. My PVP used to call me all the time. I finally added her as a contact so I know when she's calling and have it sent to voice mail. Last year she kept calling even though I told her I had a cruise booked on another cruiseline. This year I decided to throw her a favor and had her book us on our upcoming free cruise. Since I booked that in February she hasn't called, even though I log in to my account every day to make sure my booking is still valid (since it was free) and to look at excursions.

I hope she doesn't start calling me all over again after this trip as I have a cruise booked with a TA on another line for later this year! Whoops!

  5. OK... Just spoke to the 3rd Carnival Employee, this time "Dave" was in the Insurance Department (Called the number on the policy). What he said is "the Pre Existing Condition ONLY pertains to the people that are actually going on the cruise... He put it as if, I was the one that was told I have cancer, then purchased the Insurance the next day, that it would be looked at as "Pre Existing Condition".... but, "non crusiers, immediate family member and a few others does not have that provision and would be covered, even if it was due to a condition that they had before purchasing the insurance and that it would be covered if the traveler had to cancel".

Hopefully I will not have to use this Insurance but, if I do, I hope that ALL 3 Carnival Employees told me the correct information, they all told me the same thing... "That I would be covered, if I had to cancel due to my father's illness, even though it was Pre Existing... due to being a someone not actually booked on the cruise".

Fingers Crossed! I will not be stressing about this in the future because I will buy the insurance for now on! :)

*** As far as the Credit Card reply.... I wondered about that myself and will check on it. I paid it off with a Carnival Credit Card. **** Thanks!

I think you should call the insurance company that you now have the plan with. Don't listen to Carnival, they are not the insurance company. Speak directly to any agent (there should be a telephone number on your policy). Whatever information they tell you, ask them for it in writing.

  6. Are you saying they open everyone's carry on when the X-ray shows a wine bottle then dig through the clothes to confirm it is wine? I didn't pay attention to this on my last cruise since I wasn't carrying any liquids on board.

Yes, that happened to me in Miami.

In Miami, when my carry-on went through the screening, the operater yelled "BOTTLE IN HERE!" and they took my bag, my case of soda and my case of water and went through my bag and checked to make sure it was a wine bottle. They then pulled out a water bottle from my case and shook it (bubbles up if liquor) then they peeked in to my case of soda (I guess looking for cans of beer), found nothing, and sent me on my way.

  7. My dad forgot to pack his extension cord for the CPAC machine and mentioned it to the steward, who graciously brought my dad an extension cord, albeit it was one of those big orange outdoor cords, but it served it's purpose. My dad had an aft-facing balcony cabin and the outlet was across the room over by the desk so you'll definitely need an extension cord no matter which cabin you are in.

On a side note, you can call Carnival's Special Needs department and ask if a portable shower seat and/or toilet seat riser could be made available to you in your bathroom, if need be. Carnival will provide these to folks upon request free of charge.

  8. Carnival's policy, according to a rep, covers pre-existing medical condition AFTER diagnosis?

That does NOT sound right, I would definately look closely at that policy, otherwise this will be a first.

There are SOME policies out there that will cover pre-existing conditions, I believe CSA is one of them, but you will pay a little more. My Dad was hospitalized within the 2 week period after I booked a cruise so I had to wait until he was released from the hospital before purchasing insurance. He was finally cleared to cruise (even though our cruise was 6 months away) and because we missed the 15-21 days after initial payment for insurance to cover him, I had to purchase insurance from CSA.

OP, call and speak to someone at insuremytrip.com - they will steer you in the right direction. Carnival tries to pull a fast one and get you to buy THEIR insurance but it is not as good as private insurance and it's A LOT cheaper.

By the way, with private insurance kids are free with a paying adult so don't buy that Carnival did you any favors in giving your kids "free" insurance.

    Good luck with Dad!!

  9. Airplane mode, yes. But ALSO, go to "Settings" then "Data Usage." There will be a checkbox beside "Mobile Data." -- UNCHECK that box. This step is very important!

Yes, this is true. I called Verizon today in fact for our upcoming cruise in 2 weeks.

I have a Droid X HD and was told to MOBILE NETWORK SETTINGS and UNCHECK "DATA ENABLED", then put it on AIRPLANE MODE.
