The window and balcony cabins don't really "connect."  The doors into the two "connecting" cabins are side by side at the end of a short hallway off the main hallway.  To "connect" the two cabins you have to open the door to both cabins and close the door at the main hallway.  It's hard to explain.  Look at the deck plan and you might understand.

    Oh ok....thxxx

  2. We are thinking about taking the Star Pride next month out of San Juan.

Some of the rooms have connecting doors and I know from other ships to stay away from them but the category we are looking out this is all that is available.

Anyone ever stay in them and are they noisy?

Here are the ports that we are going to.  Can anyone tell me which are tender and which are docked?

We are wanting to just go to a nice beach on each of the stops so wondering about the smaller islands if there will be taxis or do we need to do ship tours?

Thought that I read that they serve complimentary beer or wine on this ship for meals but not finding that anywhere now, is this true?

Last question, what is the approximate price of beer and rum punches..

Thanks in advance for the felp

By "grill' I think you mean a flattop? There wasn't a grill on any of my Millie sailings in Alaska. They did have a station at the year of OVC where they cooked exactly what you describe to order but it was on a large flattop. If I remember correctly they always had stainless steel trays with precooked meats and sides available along with the cooked to order option. I honestly can't imagine that being gone. I also would enjoy this after a long day in Alaska.

Post #71 sounds like what I've always experienced on Celebrity.

Since you are the OP, I felt it would be on point to respond without going too far off topic.

    Patty

Yes it was a flat top.. Had that on the Summit too.   No worries about getting off topic.  Thanks to everyone that has responded about everything.

I can't tell you for sure if there was an actual grill they were serving from because that was never what I was really looking for, but I did pick up some of those grilled meats from a serving tray one day at lunch time...with rice and potato.

Thx for the food info....when we were on the Millennium in Alaska and the  Summit ..back in the day ..Jan. 2020..

In the evenings we would go to the aft buffet and they had chicken, minute steaks and fish that they would grill every evening.  Also the steam tables would have some grilled vegetables and I can't recall what else but there were usually good options.

I think they had salmon as well.  I will miss that for sure.

No.  They had pans filled with tepid precooked burgers and hot dogs. Very low quality.

OH NO... That was the one thing that we really enjoyed about the buffet.  Everything that was grilled back there was pretty good.   We would also go back there every morning to get our omelets made there was ..never..a line.

Please tell me they are they still making fresh to order omelets??

We sailed on Millennium Nov 19-26 out of SJ.  We like sailing out of SJ.  You get to the more Southern Caribbean without a bunch of extra sea days.... And we enjoy spending time in OSJ. We found the food on Millie just fine.  I agree there seemed to be some "extra" odd food stations at the buffet that didn't seem to get touched too much, but we had no trouble finding food choices we liked at all our meals. I do wonder why they shove all the main food stations way down at the back of the buffet, though.  Everything seems to get congested this way.  We decided to opt out of Tuscan Grille  - the price (especially when converted to our CAD dollar) seemed a bit over the top for us...when we enjoy the MDR anyway.  Sometimes, I wonder if it's the foods people choose too - and the regions where many of the guests are from (depending which foods get cleared out more quickly).  We had a very large Spanish percentage out of SJ on our cruise. Thankfully, the bread and Cafe El Bacio are still pretty much the same as well! 🙂❤️

Do they still have the grill at the very back of the buffet area where you can get grilled chicken, steak or fish?

I’m on a Celebrity ship out of San Juan right now giving observations about the current experience. I’ve been on Summit 7x out of San Juan. I guess don’t read the comments you don’t want to see.

    Thx for the food comments..

Sorry to hear that the food isn't up to par.  Gosh that was 1 thing we were looking forward to in April.  Last cruise on the Summit a few yrs ago food was decent.. not 5 star but better than Golden Corral. Hope they are still serving crispy bacon for breakfast or I will really be upset..lol. As long as I don't have to grocery shop, cook, or wash dishes I'm fairly easy to please food wise.  Maybe I can drop a few pounds that would actually be a bonus.

That was a great trip.  It was memorable as the earthquake happened in Puerto Rico while we were in Culebra pre cruise then we started hearing about this weird virus in China.  Who knew in 2 months....?!  The ports were just great.

Yes..ports on that 1 were great...just the beginning of covid..yikes who would think..

My Millennium trip in April will be the next cruise since 2020...can hardly wait...

San Juan is one of the places other than Barcelona that is great to fly into a few days before as it has so much to do pre cruise plus it's usually port intensive which is fun.  We luckily fly in from PHL or EWR direct so we can sometimes get a good price.  We were on the Summit in January 2020 that did a loop down to Grenada, St. Vincent, the ABCs and other stops out of San Juan.  I think it was 9 ports in 11 days.  It's why I've been on the Summit 6 times!

My friend and I love the port intensive  Caribbean itineraries.  I love waking up being  on a different island everyday not a fan of sea days I get bored quickly.  We fly out of Houston so easy peasy for us.  Been on Summit at least 6 times.   I think we were on the same trip with you January 2020 too.

Millennium repos from San Juan in April 2023. In the fall of 2023/early 2024 Millennium will be in Asia and Summit will be doing short Caribbean routes from Miami. Summit will eventually take over the San Juan routes on the 24/25 schedule.

Great to hear that the Summit will be back in 24/25.  Love Summit and Millennium...Whew..had me nervous ..

The results in our case was that we were late getting back to Galveston, which not only inconvenienced all the peeps getting off the boat, but also those who had to wait extra long before boarding on the next cruise. This is definitely nothing new with the Vista, as it's been an ongoing issue for months.

We were supposed to be on this cruise but had to cancel due to illness.  Was wondering

How Belize was since they just recently had a hurricane there. Were the Seas good? Hopefully so otherwise I would have been concerned since the ship was having propulsion issues.  Do you know if there were any covid cases on board?

  13. We were supposed to go there this week and a few weeks ago I called the Belize Tourist Bureau and they couldn't tell me when it would be open.  You could try to give them another call and see if they know anymore than they did when I called.  They have a toll free number 800 624 0686

Nope.  It will not open in Nov.  I had it booked and they sent us a refund and said that the island will not be ready in Nov at all.

Thanks so much for that info.  I just emailed Island Marketing/Belize cruise excursions asking if they knew anything about the opening of the island and haven't heard back.  Is that who you booked with?

Hope I get a refund as well.

If Goff's Caye isn't open when you are there, grab a water taxi to Caye Caulker and see if yuo can snorkel off the Split.  Locals can direct you, but it's basically turn right off the ferry pier and follow the beach to Lazy Lizard.  Snorkeling off the beach won't be as good Goff's Caye or Shark Ray alley, but if hubby panics he can retire to the LL for one of their green drinks!

    Thanks ......  Couple more questions...

How often do the water taxis run?

    Cost of the water taxi?

How far from the cruise ship pier is Caye Caulker?

  16. I am arriving in Belize Nov 8 and am booked on the Goffs Caye trip but I understand that it is currently closed with it possibly reopening in early November (hopefully before we get there lol.)

As a back up plan I need to know if there is a good beach close to the cruise ship port that you can do some snorkeling from shore.  Please advise if there is and how to get there.  Not wanting to snorkel from a boat trip because my husband is not a good swimmer and panics easily.

Our last trip was before Covid, so it’s been a while.

We did the $68 on the last visit and were happy with it. We brought a few bottles of water and were fine.

On our first trip we did the full package and were not impressed with the lunch. It was good but not $30 good. We are also not big drinkers so the drinks were not an issue.

We had kids (6 &8 at the time) and they were not impressed with the food at all.

We are scheduled to go next month and will follow up. I’m a little concerned about all the drama that has been posted

Thanks so much for that.  I will just do the 68.00 pkg.   I did email them with questions about the tour and never heard back. We are going next month too.  Guess I will book it and hope they show up to take us there.  Under their reservation information it doesn't tell you what time to meet anyone

Is it certain times that the boat takes you to and from their island?

  18. Has anyone been there recently?  I was looking at booking the discovery package for 68.00 or the full island pkg for 98.00 which includes 2 drinks and lunch (includes a few other things but we won't use them).  Is it worth the extra money for the drinks and lunch or is it better to do Pay as you go.  I saw the menu from a few years ago and it looks rather pricey.
