  1. Who all is traveling with you? Six people will fit very comfortably in an SJ suite. yes, the only down side is having one bathroom, but the suite itself is SOOO worth it!

Me and my wife along with our 4 teenage sons. She won't go for the whole 1 bathroom thing. :(

Plus we would have to bring in 3 rollaway beds. Not sure where they would all go. I wish it had a connecting cabin.

  2. There is an one SJ (Family Suite) open on your cruise. Act quick and you might get it. :D

Yes. It just became open a few days ago. I seriously debated it. But there are 6 of us and I can't imagine all 6 of us in that room. Although it is made for 6 people it is quite small. 1 bathroom too. Now if it connected to another cabin or suite for my kids I would be all over it.

But I am thinking about upgrading from our ocean view room to balcony rooms so I can TRY to take advantage of the $99 VIP upgrade. If it was a sure thing I would do it for sure. But don't know if I could get on the ship fast enough.

Thank you so much for checking. I really appreciate it. That was very nice of you.

  3. For those of you that want to cancel your suites and save money....

I will be on the Dawn in a few months. I wanted a suite but they were all booked. I have 2 connecting ocean views. Please cancel and take your chances with the $99 VIP upgrade. I will upgrade to your suite. :D

  4. So you get on the ship and someone gets an upgrade for $99. Suite passengers are upset because they paid more for it.

What about after you paid full price for a suite and then the upgrade fairy calls and someone gets upgraded for far less than you paid?

    You mad? What's the difference?

Don't book the suite. Take the chance and maybe the upgrade fairy will call.

Don't book the suite and maybe you'll get lucky and get the $99 VIP upgrade.

Choices are great. Life will be miserable if you worry about what everyone else is doing. Just do your thing and don't worry about others.

If I buy a car I am happy with the deal or I wouldn't have bought it. If it goes on sale a few months later or someone is a better negotiater than me.... Oh well. I don't worry about it. It didn't change me or my deal. I'm still happy.

  5. We've switched lines for may reasons over the years and settled on NCL. Last cruise our suite priority boarding was so screwed up that my wife said...and quite seriously..."It's time to start cruising on Regent". Now NCL is charging me a couple of thousand more for our favorite suite perk than anyone in a balcony cabin who wants it and lines up at the guest services desk early enough. Sorry...that may be the final straw...because that's real money, not just being able to board the ship a few minutes earlier. (And we're going to get on the ship earlier than you to buy the package...you're merely silver Latitudes status :D)

Lol. Yes I'm still a peon on NCL but I'm working my way up. Lol.

But my son is small and quick. He will be making a dash for guest services. Lol.

  6. Smart move by NCL. For all of you that say you won't cruise in a suite anymore..... Someone else will. I always want a suite but they are always taken. Those suites will be filled and every one of the VIP upgrades will be sold. It's a business decision and probably a smart one.

Most here are just venting. Nobody is really going to switch lines or change anything. I have watched this go on for years here on the forum. NCL watches and knows this too. Everyone complains and thinks the sky is falling. Just wait and see what happens.

For those of you that want to cancel your suites. Great. You will save money. So what is the complaint. Same perks less money. Works for me. But you all act like its a given that you will get the $99 VIP upgrade. Your not gonna be happy when you get on the ship any they are all sold out. Plus your gonna have to beat me and my family of 6 onto the ship before I buy up all the VIP upgrades. Lol.

  7. Funny how people just assume they can get the $99 VIP upgrade. I'm thinking there is going to be a mad dash. With limited space how do you know you can get the upgrade? With a suite you know for sure.

If it could be ordered on the website in advance that would be a different story.

  8. This reminds me of when a Carnival introduced the Faster to the Fun program. All of us Platinum members were upset that others could buy what took us years to earn. But we forgot about it, got over it and everything is fine now.

I am on the other side. I have 2 connecting ocean view rooms booked on the Dawn. I am going to try and upgrade to a balcony or mini suite. Then rush onto the ship and see of I can buy my way to VIP status. I would of got a suite but they were all sold out.

This also makes me think it is going to be a mad dash onto the ship to buy this VIP status. People are going to arrive at the terminal early and fight to get on the ship first.

  9. That may be true, but the chocolate from Belgium is still the best :D

Unfortunately there aren't many cruise ships visiting us...

We tried chocolate all over Europe. And although Belgum was really good we thought it was the second best in Europe. We thought Switzerland had the best chocolate in Europe.

But Belgum had the best French Fries. Mmmmm.

  10. Have you been on Carnival lately? Because the entertainment is now the passengers in most cases  I'm not knocking CCL because you can tell by my signature that I have sailed them many times and have one more scheduled but I can't imagine their current entertainment being better than anyone's except maybe the local elementary school :D which is sad really because they used to have decent shows.

Yes. We cruise in CCL frequently. We like the entertainment.

Our last cruise on the Spirit. The entertainment was not great. It was just ok. Cheesie magician and boring shows.

  11. We don care for RCL.

Probably get slammed here on the NCL forum. Lol.

But we like Carnival better than NCL. Better food. Better entertainment. We also like traditional dining.

But we have been sailing on NCL quite a bit lately. This is due to better itineraries. Seems like NCL has better ports and more Ports. Carnival has more sea days. We like Ports.

If itinerary is important to you like it is to us we give NCL the overall advantage.

  12. I find that staying on your balcony in Alaska (inside passage) or Panama restricts your view to half of what is available to see.

Exactly how I feel. We have always got an inside cabin. We got a balcony for our 12 day Europe cruise. On our balcony I felt like I could only see half of what I could see out on deck. We spent our time up on the top deck. 360 view and I usually walk back and forth. We wil stick to inside cabins. Nice and dark.

  13. We were on the Spirit a few months ago. We got off the ship in Venice. We carried off our own luggage. We got up early and were one of the first off the ship. We had arranged a car to drive us to the Marco Polo airport to pick up a rental car. We were at the airport at 8:30 am. I can't help you with security at the airport as we just got a rental car. I can't imagine you could get to the airport any earlier than we did unless maybe you were in a suite.
