  1. How does the lobster dinner work? Is that on the menu overnight in the haven and you just chose to have it in your room?

Yes, lobster, filet and lobster, are on the a Haven restaurant menu and you can order and have it serves en suite.

  2. I was also on this cruise, I did not have any negative experiences with David, or the other concierge staff. I must admit I was surprised when we met during embarkation that he remembered us from 4 1/2 years ago on the Gem.

I also would have liked to have seen the roof opened.

  3. You can call/email them and let them know what you want. But in my experience it most likely will not be done. I am on board the Breakaway right now and the only request that was completed was that the fridge was empty, and I think that was just luck. With that said, the butler will make sure to meet with you on the first day. At that time let them know want you would like.

  4. I agree about the iconcierge app. I am currently on the breakaway, and although not perfect it is nice to be able to text or call my kids anywhere on the ship.

I did try making a call out with the new international calling over wifi feature in IOS, but although I could hear fine, they couldn't hear me to well.

  7. Oh, common, it is not the silliest object ever discussed. Should I have waited until Friaday? Furthermore, the question on the purpose of the gratuities is legitimate. On my first cruise in 2003 the passengers personally handed over the envelops to the crew, and now they simply charge your card and you never know where it goes.

Yup it sure has changed. You used to receive envelopes and a sheet with suggested tip amounts. Then they charged the tips to your on board account and you received cards to hand out. Now they have done away with tipping and it is a service charge used to pay salaries and incentives to the employees. Except for extra charged dining and bars, that is now an included 18% gratuity.

  8. Leaving May22 on the Epic I hear about this upsell when does that usually occur

how do they communicate, anyone ever benifit from it

    Thanks

You may receive an email anytime from a few weeks before the cruise up to a few days before. If you are interested in one of the available upsells there is a number to call. Currently the pricing listed is per person for the first 2 people in the room. There are no taxes, but if you weren't originally in a suite the DSC does go up.

  9. We just got an upsell to a suite. Yeah!!! Is there a way to find out how to email your butler before the cruise? We are travelling with 2 little kids and some things set up ahead of time would be great.

By the way, this is the Dawn on Sunday,

Normally you would get a welcome letter with luggage tags and contact info, but I don't think you have time for that. You could send an email to the on shore concierge department norwegianconciergedesk@ncl.com, include your reservation number with your request. Or if you prefer you can call, their number is 855-625-4283 (9AM-9PM EST, M-F)

I sent an email to them at 9:47 AM and had a reply at 10:20 AM.

    Enjoy the cruise!

  10. We are booked in an Aft Penthouse Suite(Deck 12) on Breakaway in August. We've been on Breakaway before but never in a suite - so excited!!

    A couple of questions:

    1. The Haven Courtyard, lounge etc are all at the front of the ship and we are aft. If you have stayed in an aft cabin, did you still feel it was worth it - did you still enjoy all the Haven has to offer? Will our butler be around even though we are not 'in' the Haven?

We were in the Owners Suite a few years back on the Gem. It was on deck 9 and not in the Haven, but our butler was still attentive.

    2. We usually bring a case of water with us onboard. We now have UBP. Does this eliminate the need for water? Can our butler stock our room with bottled water - is this included in the UBP?

Bottled water is not included in the UBP or in that suite (except for embarkation day), you can still bring your case of water and/or ask your bulter to keep a pitcher of water in the fridge.

    3. I have seen different answers to this question - wondering if someone knows for sure...If we wanted to order Cagneys and have dinner on our balcony, is that included as part of the SDP or do we have to pay the upcharge? You can use your SDP for Cagney's and could have it set up on the balcony.

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

    Enjoy!

  11. Really? It's against the rules.

** United States Public health ( U.S.P.H. ) regulations prohibit diapers of any kind, including those marked as “swimmers,” in the swimming pools or hot tubs."

  12. Do they charge this when we board? We have to pay it even if we open it ourselves to drink it on our balcony? Just asking, we really enjoy it with dinner, although we've been known to enjoy a glass on our balcony.

Yes, $15 per bottle when you board. You can drink wherever you wish but still the same fee.

  14. Just wondering what the experience has been with the rough seas out of New York to Bermuda. My husband is concerned.

You can have rough seas from any port at anytime. With that said I have cruised twice to Bermuda, and both times did not experience rough seas.

  15. What I don't understand here, is that the OP is stating that if the other 2 PAX purchase the UBP they will also then be charged the 18% gratuity on their promo package that did not require it when they booked. To me that doesn't make sense.
