We went to Morocco last year and had no problems getting Dirhams from our bank before we left. I ordered them online and picked them up from our branch a couple of days later.

I would check with these dive shops for prices.
My kids did a discover scuba course in Barbados in 2010. They were 13 and 14 at the time. I paid $99 for each of them. I'm already certified, so I only paid their "one-tank dive" price to go with them.
They received about an hour of training in the pool, then we did a 40' hard bottom dive in Carlisle Bay among the shipwrecks - very cool.
This was considerably cheaper than the cost to do a full cert. package.
As previously mentioned, the downside is that if scuba isn't your thing, you've wasted a day.

Before renting a vehicle in Mexico, read this:
http://www.wadeburleson.org/2011/03/...t-cozumel.html
I'd recommend the extra insurance...
Not trying to scare anyone away from renting a car, just want to make folks aware...

An alternative is to book a tour through someone like:
Here's a list of various tours, etc. from TripAdvisor:

We would usually be in the water by 7:30 or 8:00. The turtles would generally stick around until about 10:00 or 11:00 and then take off.
We stayed in The Gap, so it was about a 15 minute walk for us to get to Rockley...

Check out this website, near the bottom of the page are the Caribbean flights: http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/airlines/
Here are some other sites:

You might have to stop over in the Virgin Islands or T&C.

Yes.
Keep going past the marina on your right. Broad St. (one of the main shopping streets) is a block inland from Princess Alice Hwy. (Hincks St.).
National Heroes Square, Independence Arch, Chamberlain Bridge and the Parliament are about a block before the Fairchild Bus Terminal. The Nidhe Synagogue is about 3 or 4 blocks north from the Parliament Bldg.

It all depends on what your group wants to do.
Perhaps this might help a little...

Personally myself, I'm a beach, snorkeling and diving guy. When I go to Barbados, most of my time is spent in or under the water...
If you like a little spice with your food, try the yellow pepper sauce, especially on a cutter, with a side of macaroni pie... I like the sauce so much I always bring back a couple of litres everytime we go...

You're welcome.
The tram tour is likely what you'll want - that seems to be what most folks do.
Enjoy Barbados - it's amazing.

I might have been thinking of Brighton. I always get those 2 mixed up.

If you want to try something different, there's always Brandon's Beach just north of Bridgetown.
Check out this website: http://www.beachesofbarbados.com/
The Boatyard is about a 20-30 min. walk from port.

We did ziplining in 2008 and Spencer's Beach Break in 2012.
We enjoyed both trips. St. Lucia is beautiful...

We've had pretty good snorkeling at the reef in front of the Tiki Bar at the south end of Rockley Beach. If you get there in the morning, you'll probably see turtles at that reef.
It's straight out from the Tiki Bar about 150 yards out.
Here are pics we took back in 2010. Most of the turtle pics were taken at Rockley. Some were taken at Carlisle Bay...

Located on the north end of Carlisle Bay. It's right next door to, and quieter than The Boatyard. A 5-10 min. cab ride from port, or 30 mins. if you want to walk.
Here's their website for more info: http://lobsteralive.net/
Cheers, P:)

$40 is a good price for both going there and then back to the Boatyard. They usually charge about $25 one way.
Cheers, P:)

The east end of Accra Beach is known as Rockley, and there's a beach bar there. It used to be called Bar Kanei and then Sideshore - now I think it's called the Tiki Bar.
If you like snorkeling, there's a reef straight out from the bar, about 150 yards.
Cheers, P:)

Should be around $25US ($50BDS) for the 4 of you.
Cheers, P:)

Once you see Carlisle Bay (where the Boatyard is) I doubt you'll want to see anything else... :) Do a Google image search and you'll see...
If you want to try something else, check out Rockley/Accra or Dover to the south or Paynes or Mullins to the north.
Cheers, P:)

We were there once in August and found that maybe half of the shops were open. It was pretty quiet - not a lot of people walking around...

Before renting a vehicle in Mexico, read this:
http://www.wadeburleson.org/2011/03/saved-from-hell-in-jail-cell-at-cozumel.html
I'd recommend the extra insurance, or pay for someone else to do the driving for you.
The Mayan Riviera is generally quite safe and well removed from the cartel violence along the US/Mexico border.
Cheers, P:)

Carlisle Bay will give you more options for food and amenities, but Paynes' is generally quieter.
Carlisle Bay is about 3/4 mile long - plenty of room to spread out.
Both beaches are not too far from B'Town, so if you don't like one, you can always catch a cab to the other...
Cheers, P:)

You're pretty much guaranteed to see turtles at Carlisle Bay, especially when the catamaran tours arrive (usually around 9:30-10:00).
Cheers, P:)
Boatyard and downtown question.

I can't remember if there's any signage for the Boatyard along the way. It's very easy to get there, just head away from the cruise port and keep walking with the ocean on your right.
You can always ask a local if you're unsure. They are generally quite friendly and willing to help out.
There is good signage in front of the Boatyard, and generally a good collection of taxis in the parking lot. You can't miss it.
Here's a good photo of what the street view looks like:
http://www.tripomatic.com/Barbados/Bridgetown/The-Boatyard/
You will have to pay your entrance fee before you go inside.
The walk is safe and quite scenic...
Cheers, P:)
