Hi, I have posted this on ports of call but not much action over there. We are sailing on Solstice and we will have 3 night stay in Hong Kong prior to our cruise in November. We have been given choice of Grand Harbour Kowloon, Stanford Hotel and or Regal Hotel Kowloon. Anyone have any experience of these and location they are in? We have never been to Hong Kong so a bit unsure. Any other similar options we should consider?
Thanks

Book now, as mentioned if price goes down you can always cancel and rebook.

I like being able to get a customized plate of food. Sometimes (usually?) in the MDR, I like the protein on one dish, the vegetable on another, and the sauce on a third. While I have occasionally made off-menu requests (e.g., can you bring me a baked potato instead), I'd rather just get what I want in the OV. And the selection is huge.
I also prefer eating there as a solo cruiser.
One part I don't like is it's not easy to get a drink there, but that's a minor quibble.
Best way to get drinks in OVC is to sit on the side with the bar, waiters are always coming and going and if all else fails you can go to the bar yourself. I agree getting drinks when sitting on opposite side is a nightmare!

Just watched and thought it was actually not bad! Better to hear the captains than corporate!

We cruise in Europe 2-3 times a year and have NEVER taken passports off the ship. We carry photocopies but have never needed these either.

Is there an issue with Hong Kong that I have missed?

Sailing on Solstice for first time to Vietnam next year so following closely. Can you tell me what time theatre shows start so that I can organise dinners!

The vast majority of our cruises have been from Southampton and we normally board around 10.30 to 11 no matter prescribed time.. I don't think we have ever encountered a queue of more than one couple in front of us. They always have many check in desks and you are more likely to be held up going through security.

No one ever shows any love for the Laphroaig 😉
Not surprised! I have quite a collection of malts and would not allow Laphroaig anywhere near! TCP comes to mind but each to their own.

It states 200 drinks "included" not to chose from so I just don't know.

Had an e mail today from a cruise TA advertising booking Celebrity Cruises now and get 200 drinks included. Is this just a number plucked out the air or is there an actual limit? I doubt I could manage that on a 14 day cruise never mind a 7 !!

We have a cruise booked next year to ports in the Med and 3 days in Israel. The excursions are shown and bookable for the Med ports but nothing is shown for the 3 days in Israel? Any ideas why this is so? Thanks.

Remember the half hour from Invergordon to Inverness!
Going from Cawdor to Invergordon you don't go via Inverness!!

We recently did this excursion. It goes to Cawdor Castle, but NOT to either Inverness or Loch Ness. It took 1 hour to drive there and an hour on the way back. We had 2 hours at the Castle, which I can only describe as similar to NT in England. You were given new hand held audio guides which were developed during lockdown, which were useful, as they helped with social distancing. There was a small cafe there, which we didn’t use, as it was popular and there was nowhere to sit outside when we were there.
BTW, does anyone know the name of the flowers in the last photo?
No way is it an hour from Cawdor castle to Inverness! Half hour tops on a bad day!

Thanks John for a very comprehensive and useful response. Lots of food for thought! The hotels were the travel companies recommendations but we do not have to go with those. Much appreciated.
