Our kids have both sailed since around 10 months and they love it! It's a different type of trip for sure, but adjust (or drop completely) your expectations and you can have a great trip! We have brought along my aunt before to help out with the kiddos on board as well...have anyone you can do that with?

We love Nachi or Chankanaab in Cozumel (sail with two young kids). In Jamaica we did a day pass to Sunset Beach Resort which is like two blocks from the ship...$5 taxi ride. We just bought the passes when we got there and the kids loved it! Grand Cayman we've done sting ray city and then day passes at the Westin.

Has anyone ordered a bottle of wine or champagne from room service once on board? Were you able to get it the first day? I know if you order from Bon Voyage ahead of time they won't deliver it until the next day (at least that's my understanding when you sail from Texas).

Subscribing...we are going on her in March for the first time!

JiJi's is a specialty dining venue on Sunshine...not sure if it's on any others. It's an extra charge to eat there, definitely worth it!
-
@BallFour4 Awesome pictures! Do you recall which day the towel animals were on deck? We've missed it every time so I'm guessing is port day morning.
-
Omg, we LOVED JiJi's!!! We got 2,2,2 for 2 also.

They offer a specific "taste" each evening from a different venue...we enjoyed them all! It's a nice little bite before dinner [emoji3]. Give it a try for sure! They also have a drink special that compliments the "taste".

Does she need to money to pay for cheers??
I mean seriously. I was on a cruise where a guy handed out business cards about how his dad died and he loved cruising. Nice guy but it was awkward.
Your post kind of falls in line with my trashy comment about carnival cruise line

If you think Carnival is so trashy why are you hanging out on the Carnival boards? Honestly curious.

I personally would not sail without my husband...but I also wouldn't be without insurance so cancelling would be an option. Good luck and hopefully somehow he'll get the vacay approved and y'all can laugh about this on the Lido!

Ugh, carnival is already trying to sell me a bunch of crap, I don't want the passengers doing it too! Not relaxing vacation if your trying to hawk your stuff. Just my opinion.

I can let you know in 59 days when we do our 4 day spring break with our kids 3 & 7. I might not be able to find your post by then though. I don't expect anything too crazy to be honest.

I have only sailed RC once but I loved it! Their ships are way cooler than Carnival and their shows better. I don't recall the food being all that different, but I go to carnival for value. Don't get me wrong, we enjoy Carnival too! But RC is a special treat for us. We don't do drink packages so I can't speak to those differences or how that makes one a better value than the other. For something like a honeymoon though I'd choose RC.

I agree carnival isn't always cheaper. I just priced 7 days during the last week of summer August 13/14 on RCCL and Carnival and RCCL is only $100 more but offers a $300 obc.

We've done Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay which was a lot of fun, all inclusive daypass. We just took a cab the couple blocks and then got the passes onsite, no need to book ahead. We also did a daypass at Westin in Grand Cayman through resortforaday.com.
-
We have young kids, so the entertainment for them and the lower cost appeal to us. We as adults enjoy Carnival and RCCL equally.

Ecstasy was the first ship we sailed and we thought it was fabulous! We didn't have anything to compare her to [emoji3]. Those saying she's run down have probably, like us, now been on newer ships and are comparing apples to oranges. You will have a great time should you choose; the tragic accident that occurred has nothing to do with the ship itself and could just as easily been anywhere that has elevators.

61 days for us!!!

We've used resortforaday.com several times and would certainly recommend! While we haven't used it for Bahamas we used for Jamaica and Grand Cayman.
-
Been on both and the Sunshine was my favorite of the two. We were on deck 5, one of the new aft rooms they added there, so I can't comment about noise on deck 1. 8 days sounds great though!!!
Edited to add: make sure you try JiJi!!!

We got apps, soup, salads, entrees...the only thing we paid extra for was wine. The spaghetti carbonara was excellent!!!

We got passport cards specifically for cruising because they are easy to carry and you get to go to the passport line at customs which is usually shorter than the other line for those without passports (at least in Galveston). For now I'd suggest just using all your documents instead of risking not having anything at all, but get the cards when you come back for your next cruise. We just had to renew my sons and we got it in 4 weeks (applied Thanksgiving week, received Christmas week)

We cruised with both our children as infants. Be sure you pack plenty of diapers, wipes, food, formula, meds, everything you might need. We chose Royal Caribbean while our kids were babies because you can order all this stuff ahead of time and have it in your cabin upon arrival instead of packing it all. We used the cruise provided pack and play. Our kids have cruised lots since and we all still love it!!

I've always left my things (laptop, iPad, cameras) out on the desk or shelves when out of the cabin. Cash/CC and documents get locked in the safe. I've never really thought about it and never had an issue.
