  1. I was told I would not be able to upgrade at a later date with the free casino offer. My PVP told me that they can only enter the promo once, so I would have to pick the cabin I wanted from the beginning or I would have to pay full price to upgrade at a later date.

  2. For our upcoming July cruise, it actually costs more per person for the 3 person cabins than the 2 person cabins. Passengers 1 and 2 in the 3 person cabins are more expensive than for the 2 person cabins so the 3rd person discount is false on our sailing. We were told high demand for 3 person cabins equals higher prices.

  3. Roatan is not a port that I would feel comfortable exploring on my own. I have never had an issue there, but I always stick with cruise excursion or a reputable tour (Bodden Tours). I have heard of people getting robbed, shot at; A NCL crew member was murdered for his IPhone in Roatan.

  4. Seems like a good rule. I honestly don't understand how anyone can leave their kids on a ship without them. Too many things can go wrong while in port. Besides, what's the point of bringing your kids in vacation with you if you are going to leave them with babysitters the whole time?

My sister will occasionally leave her younger two on board while she and her husband do an excursion with her older two. The kids love the camp so they are having fun.

  5. They said we could not board until 1:30, we are usually on by noon

They always say you can't board until 1:30 and I am always on the ship by 11. I don't think delaying departure by 2 hours while you are still on board deserves on-board credit. Just be thankful you are going on a cruise. There are people starving to death in this world.

  6. Yes, I regularly order the cheese plate as an appetizer. One cruise I ordered it on the first night and the waiter heard me telling my family who was trying to eat all my cheese to order their own. From then on, there were multiple cheese plates waiting on the table for us when we arrived to dinner.

  7. I have to say, I have sailed out of Miami numerous times and I have never had any problem figuring out what terminal my ship was at. I really don't blame the porter. Sure, he could have been more observant, but all of the Carnival tags look alike and there are thousands of pieces of luggage. I can't understand why these people didn't say anything to anyone before sailing once they realized they dropped their luggage off at a different terminal.

Once when we were sailing out of Port Canaveral, my sister's luggage was nowhere to be found at Orlando's airport. She waited in Orlando as long as she could for them to track down her luggage, but ended up having to get on the last shuttle to Canaveral so she didn't miss the ship. It turns out her suitcase got put with the Disney cruise luggage at the airport and made its way on board one of the Disney ships. I guess Disney must have a program that takes your luggage directly from the airport to the ship. Luckily for her, a Disney worker noticed the Carnival tags. Disney actually called her cell while she was on the shuttle to let her know they had her suitcase and would deliver it to her Carnival ship for her. Sure enough, her suitcase was delivered to her cabin embarkation night.

  8. When getting off the ship at a tender port and you are not on a Carnival excursion, you have to stand in line in one of the lounges and they hand out number stickers. When your number is called, you will be led down to the tender boats. The earlier you line up to get your sticker, the earlier you will be off the boat.

  9. We were on a summer cruise where we had 4 people in a 4 person cabin. We had to remove one of the people and we were told we either had to move to a 3 person cabin or pay the full fare for the 4th person to remain in that 4 person cabin. Three and 4 person cabins are in high demand during the summer.

  10. Carnival wants to sail at capacity which is why they won't put 2 people in a 3 person room. That is one less fare they get. There are 2 person aft balconies so maybe you can switch to one if open. You either have to remove your daughter before final payment is due or pay for her and let her be a no show, which would cause you to lose the full amount of her fare.

  11. I always park at the port in Miami. It may cost more, but it is worth it to me. I have heard stories about cars being broken at some of the off site cruise and airport parking in Miami. Of course that could happen at the port too, but the port seems safer to me. I also like the convenience of walking off the ship and having my car right there. I hate having to wait for a shuttle with all my luggage.
