  1. I sailed the Sunshine about a year and a half ago. To be honest, it was not my favorite ship, but I had a great cruise none the less. When Carnival renovated the Destiny into the Sunshine, they added cabins by removing common areas. I felt that the ship was too crowded for the amount of space. The main theater was small with only 2 stories. The comedy club was tiny. It just always felt crowded to me. The majority of the cabins do not have fridges either. That said, I enjoyed the cruise. I thought the Sunshine was a very nice ship other than the crowds.

  2. We are just off the Valor on the 27th and was told they are NOT getting 2.0(they still have a 6 piece showband) and NO American Table installed either..

All Carnival ship are getting the 2.0 upgrade eventually. Valor has a dry dock scheduled at the end of April where they should be getting the 2.0 upgrades.

  3. I like Norwegian. I would definitely recommend trying them out. I find Norwegian and Carnival to be more alike than different. In the end, I think I prefer Carnival, but that may be because I am more familiar with them. I would definitely cruise with Norwegian again though. Here are some minor differences I noticed:

I love the 24 hour restaurant that Norwegian has over the gross 24 hour pizza Carnival has. I like that Norwegian has glass shower doors instead of the shower curtain Carnival has. I also like that Norwegian has rock climbing walls on their ships.

I like that Carnival offers the traditional early and late dinner seatings plus your time. Norwegian only offers the any time dining. When I travel with my large extended family, having a set dinner time with Carnival guarantees we will sit together each night. On Norwegian, we either had to sit separate, wait 2 hours for us to sit together (no exaggeration), or make reservations for the MDR and the reservations were only available at odd times. Norwegian also has a lot of pay restaurants taking up a lot of the common space on the ship. This made the ship feel crowded to me.

Carnival also allows adults to bring on 1 bottle of wine. Norwegian charges for this.

  4. I just booked a cruise on the Valor this summer. I know the Valor is undergoing a dry dock in April. I am assuming the Valor is getting the 2.0 upgrades, but does anyone know the details? I am assuming they will add Guy's, but what about the Blue Iguana Cantina? I love the tacos. Will they also be refreshing the ship with new carpets and mattresses? Will they be adding a water works area. I know they just have 1 slide now.

I am also curious if the Valor is using the new American table menus yet or if anyone knows when they will be?

  5. Is the drinks package worth it ?

It's around $50 a person a day plus 15% gratuity. All adults sharing a cabin must purchase the package. For my upcoming 8 day cruise it is over $900 for the 2 of us. We have never had a bar bill even close to that high, so it is not worth it to us.
