  1. since we use the table/chairs for breakfast most touring days, we could not pass the end of the bed if the table was in use. We removed the coffee table by the sofa to have the table and chairs in that area.

Did you cabin steward remove the coffee table from the room or did it just get moved somewhere else in the room?

  2. We have only done Caribbean and that 7130 was a Med cruise Venice to Rome. Never had to tie down anything. I slept on that lounger one night in the Med. Very little movement but we have had pretty good weather. Our first O cruise was in 10031 and I won't do a forward cabin again. Hard to explain but in that cabin we felt a shuddering motion quite a few times. Only time we ever felt something similar to that in the aft cabin was very early morning in Barbados. The ship was coming to a full stop in the ocean to allow a helicopter to airlift a sick passenger.

I bet you will love it. What cruise are you on?

We are in 7135 in March. There are 2 loungers on the side and ther is usually sun on the side or back most of the day. You don't have to ask for the loungers because it is a penthouse. The extended balcony B3s have to ask.

To Dojo - check frequently around final payment. Those cabins are booked early but I've booked 2-4 months out and gotten one of those 4 PH cabins everytime. I would have done 7130 again but it was gone and a few weeks ago it came back into the inventory.35b6b8a4f162384dd7db04d5baf11cb4.jpg

  4. I agree with Jay23 - much prefer the aft on Riviera. Some people complain about the wind on those 4 open sided balconies. Are you going on a warm weather cruise? This is a picture of 7111.

  5. Oceania statement...

We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred this morning on Insignia. We have extended our heartfelt condolences to the families of those involved and are offering them our full support. This is truly an emotional time for all of us at Oceania Cruises.

Our top priority is ensuring all 656 guests return home as quickly and comfortably as possible. We’ve arranged for charter flights this evening to return all guests to Miami, as well as transfers and hotel accommodations in Miami until flights to their city of origin can be arranged tomorrow. All guests will receive a 100 percent refund, and a 50 percent credit towards a future Oceania Cruises voyage.

Oceania Cruises President and Chief Operating Officer Jason Montague, along with a team of guest and crew support and technical personnel, are in St. Lucia. This team is leading the effort to ensure guests and crew are well cared for, as well as working with the ship’s team and authorities to assess the situation. We will make additional details available as they become known.

  6. Is this new on Oceania or have I just missed it before? Or perhaps it's only in the Caribbean and this was my first time on Oceania in the Caribbean.

Just back from a week on Insignia and was surprised to see this push, along with the "recommended" stores in the daily print outs.

Really enjoyed the cruise for the most part.

Was it Sandy Cares by any chance? She was called the Guest Enrichment lecturer and did a talk on every port. I never went but I saw the rerun on TV in my cabin. She was very interesting - talking about the history and things to see- I never heard any pitch for the usual tourist stores.

I was on same cruise as Andee.

  7. Cheese Plate (Brie, Emmentaler, Gouda, and Cheddar) - Pretty pedestrian as far cheese plates go, but it matched the menu and there wasn't a prune in sight!

Maybe you could try this one on Oceania someday658cd8c318c80a2bf60e1be07b3471ac.jpg

Friends sometimes ask me how I can waste so many hrs on Cruise Critic. It's reports like yours that I can get so engrossed in that I forget the time. Just wish I could write like you.

  8. Some people have posted on Oceania about down sell offers. One person got 2 offers in a row on 2 different cruises. Someone asked how that could happen and this was their response.

"Pure luck. U need a perfect storm as follows

U have to book a cruise that sells out and is oversold

U need to have booked a cabin they need.

U have to have others refusing to take a deal so that they are desperate and up the offers for your cabin. The offers can get better and better as time goes on. No way to know. It's a gamble

U need a ta who will inform you of these deals quickly ( first come first served) and negotiate on ur behalf. Just like upsell offers, downsell deals can disappear quickly. You can make a counteroffer for a better deal too. Lol. Btw ur ta gets a small commission for getting a client to accept a deal. U get to keep the perks u had originally. Win win

If all those conditions fall into place it could happen to you

I got downsell offers two cruises in a row. The first was generous. The second was the 14k. Incredible"

  9. Bravo for the new menu options! Now if only Oceania would find a tea of higher quality than Twinings. Perhaps making some of the Red Ginger specialty teas available at the 4:00pm tea in Horizons ..???

+1 I've searched everywhere to find a tea like the Ginger Pear tea in Red Ginger.

  10. I book direct with the airline why mess around with 3rd party sites

I'm not sure if you are referring to "Kayak" or the "Itamatrix" site.

You can't book anything on Itamatrix. It just shows you what airlines are going where you want to go and how much the fare is. It saves you going to every airline site to see which flight combinations are the best and most affordable. Then you go to the airline to book. The site is used by a lot of travel agents.

  11. Sorry, newbie question here and I have searched.

By the way, there has been great info I have found searching on your board. thank you.

Now, here is the question - we booked the Connoisseur La Reserve and I went to go back to book the other option for another night but there is no option to 'add" - instead I now have view my current reservation

Are you only allowed to book one La Reserve evening?

Thanks so much and forgive me if the answer was found easily and I couldn't find it.

It seems to be a glitch in the system; it happened to me too. Call Oceania and they can book any or all of the menus. By the way they have added a new one. Connoisseur is my favourite.

  12. Would not have wanted to be your client then :D

Before I was a travel agent I worked in Air Canada Reservations. When I was new to the job, I got calls asking where was the best place to sit on the plane. Good question - I had never been in a airport, let alone on a plane.

The airline stuck me on a plane to London, Ontario and back same evening, shortly after, so I could talk a bit more intelligently. But I did get lots of calls asking if I could look out the window to see if the plane had landed - I was downtown.

The joy of youth and ignorance.:D

  13. My first cruise was with a group of people flying in from all over. My flight had been booked by the Group leader who also stated that she would be flying in a day earlier and staying at the "Port Everglades Motel"

I boarded a flight to Miami on day of departure - landed in Miami - made my way out of arrivals and got on the shuttle to Port Everglades to Ft Lauderdale. When we got there, the driver asked which ship and I said RCCL Song of Norway - which wasn't there because it sails out of Miami. He was very kind - he dropped the last passenger off and raced back to Miami and I got there just in time.

Here's the kicker. It was a travel agent group and I was a travel agent.

  14. My husband and I will be sailing on Oceania for the first time on the Insignia, Nov. 11th, 2014 ..Traveling the Tropics. We are experienced cruises and have sailed on many lines including Azamara. We are really looking forward to sailing on Oceania and enjoying the smaller ship experience.

This will be the first time that we fly home on the day of disembarkation. In the past, we have always stayed a night or 2 in the city/town where we disembark. Our flight is not until 1:50 and I am wondering if Oceania offers any type of baggage/porter service where our bags could be transferred directly to the airport? (we have booked our own airfare independently) If so, this may allow us to have lunch or explore San Juan on our own for a couple of hours prior to our flight departing.

I have also looked in the shore excursion offerings to see if Oceania offers any type of tour and then transfer to the airport for passengers whose flights depart after 12:00 p.m., but have not found anything.

We would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations.

    Thank you,

    Nancy

We are on that cruise also and our flight is not leaving til 4:15pm. We were thinking about going to a hotel and get a day pass or day room. Checked Caribe Hilton but they won't confirm anything til the day prior.

Nancy - why don't you join our Roll Call and come to our Meet and Greet.

    Catherine
