  1. I have said this a thousand times...if you get to the port before 11AM you are IN THE WAY..... this is a very hectic time...e.g. passengers leaving, service trucks replenishing, porters are tending to disembarkation versus embarkation. More times than not you will stand in line outside waiting for initial entry or at best be allowed to enter and have the privilege sit in a plastic chair waiting until ? Of course what I suggest does not matter as people will do what they do. However I personally find it extremely annoying I have to go through a wall of embarking people in the way when I and others are leaving the ship after 9 A.M.

  2. So I've read it's a lot of fun even for adults, but curious as to what were the actual movies? Anybody have a listing to know what to expect, for a typical 6-day cruise.

They are short films. One was about the earth....mountains, oceans, whales, penguins another was a spongebob cartoon then there was a rollercoaster ride through a gold mine, dodging flying objects, logs on the tracks, broken tracks.. they also had one which was a combination of most of the films....

Bottom line its worth it, special effects like wind, rain, snow, chair movement etc. are really cool. Everyone who went to the shows seemed to have a good time laughing and talking about it when leaving. I had no issues whatsoever with blocked screen. If you want to avoid the possibility of some large person sitting in front of you...simply sit in the front row....

  3. With MJ coming here to replace Enchantment/Rhapsody I was not overly thrilled. And with Oasis at PC really not thrilled, no interest in her. So I wandered back over to the Carnival website to see what my options were, having sailed both pretty consistently though pretty much RCI recently.

Surprise, Surprise! Carnival is sending Sensation to Miami and having Victory and then Valor take over the 3/4 and 5/6 day runs.

Meaning Carnival has relatively newer, more featured (Yes, I Know MJ is going in for refurb). ships with more itinerary options.

Thoughts? Will the greater options compared to just having Majesty and Oasis tempt you? It's tempting me.:D

You forgot to mention Carnival is also bringing in the newer Carnival Magic. Lots of options for us locals to catch last minute good deals.

  4. The best value is to buy for the whole week. I found it to be well worth it. They had about 6 different shows, some better than others. I found it to be hit or miss regarding having to wait. Half the time I walked right in and once or twice I had to wait 5-10 minutes. Sit up front in the middle for the best seating. They have several special effects other than water and I did not witness any out of sync issues the whole cruise. It is fun and something to do on a sea day. Enjoy.

  5. I do not understand this issue. First everyone talked about the great upgrade for PC with the Oasis. Now they give the port a second year round ship. Still positive and I do not care if this is the oldest or the second or third oldest ship.

Carnival deployed their ugly Carnival Sunshine and the also ugly looking Fantasy Class to PC instead of Carnival Dream before. Next year the Breeze comes but the ugly once stay as well.

It is the Carnival Magic which comes to PC next year not the Breeze.

  6. I live near the port. Not happy Majesty is coming here...never liked the ship. Regardless...those of you who are bashing Port Canaveral...it is an easy drive from southern states, Orlando airport is the cheapest to fly into and only 45 minutes away. All the attractions nearby offer theme park visitors a split vacation. Port Canaveral is growing even bigger and building a entertainment complex. It is THE port of Florida...like it or not. Oasis is an upgrade, this forced Carnival to upgrade to its newer Magic ship and RCCL to fill a gap it thought it could get away with before succumbing to bringing Majesty. It is a chess match before your eyes. I know the port manager. NCL just decided to bring in the Spirit. We will see who is next. They are building two more piers. All is well.

  7. I know this is an old post but I just happen to hear some information on my sailing last week on Carnival Conquest. During the Q & A with the CD and one of his staff someone asked about how many nationalities were represented on board. The cruise director Brian Leavitt answered there were only nine Americans on board Conquest. He then proceeded to say Americans do not want to work for Carnival because they do not like working over 40 hours per week. A couple people kind of giggled about it and then he went on to say he was "serious". I found this comment of his to be insulting and highly inaccurate to say the least.

  8. We have 65 days left and are interested in booking a different cruise on Carnival. Would they allow us to rebook or is it too late?

If you book another cruise immediately while on the phone cancelling....I am confident you will not lose anything. If you used a travel agent...,they can make it happen for you.

  9. As far as leaving things, we left a camera once, reported it, never got it back and on another sailing I left the charger for a camera plugged into the wall, reported it, never got it back.

Finding things? Found two complete drawers full of men's socks and underwear once. Told the room steward. Found under the bed a set of car keys, turned them in.

As for the Bra poster...I am almost afraid to ask, but what is a Qtip for ladies bits?

  10. We have never needed anything but the sea pass card for our little one and she has been on over 30 cruises to every port in the Caribbean and Bermuda. If you are worried about it, as others have suggested, make a photo copy of the passport and carry it with you. If you do not have a passport, now that, in my mind, should be a much greater concern.

  11. It would have been nice to bring my wife back a nice breakfast of her favorites when she sleeps in on her birthday.

I'll be honest, I'm still going to find a way to take back a plate of sliced fruits, yogurt, and some hot food too.

Exactly, I am not happy about the change either. My wife and daughter like to sleep in and I typically bring them a plate from the buffet for a balcony breakfast. The usual fare offered in room service gets old after a day or two of it. While the wife gets ready for dinner, we also like to feed our little prior to going to taking her to kids club in the evening. Will this really put a damper on my cruise...probably not, but all these nickle and dime ploys and the "what's next" feeling are starting to take the fun out of cruising.

  12. I am going on a cruise in September out of Port Canaveral. I have been reading all the different reviews about all the different places to park. Can you please tell me what all of your past experiences are and who you would recommend? My husband wants the most easiest and quickest way to park. We plan on getting to the port around 11:00. Thanks so much for all or your help, we really appreciate it!

The easiest and fastest way to park is at the port itself. Most of the time I am off the ship and in my car in less than 15 minutes. You may pay a little more but the convenience can not be beat.

  13. How can you state something as fact when it is not? How do you find "a short term loss of business for Port Canaveral for summers of 2016 and 2017"? Carnival has yet to release the schedules for 10 of their ships for the summer of 2016 and hasn't released any schedule for any of their ships past April 2017. By definition you are stating a rumor. Until Carnival releases their schedule for the summers of 2016 and 2017 you cannot state as fact that PC is loosing business.

The PORT DIRECTOR John Walsh stated these exact words in the paper. I only passed the article along. Again sorry you do not like what he has to say. Please call them and voice your displeasure. I gave you the number and email.

On the downside, Walsh said, itinerary changes involving the Sunshine will result is a "short-term net loss of business" at Port Canaveral in the summers of 2016 and 2017. The Sunshine will be based primarily in New York those two summers, with some sailings from Norfolk, Virginia, and Charleston, South Carolina.

  14. In spite of your rudeness, you still obviously did not read the entire article yourself. You say the article says only the Valor and Sensation will be sailing out of Port Canaveral. Maybe you skipped the entire section about the Sunshine offering sailings, including new visits to Bermuda. The article then mentions that Valor has replaced Liberty and Sensation will continue to sail from PC. It contains no information about future ship deployments to PC by Carnival ships which is the subject of this thread.

How am I rude? I point out what the paper says. A poster said I was wrong and it was a rumor. That my friend is rude. There is no mention of Magic coming to PC. The Sunshine will be leaving. It it will result in a short term loss of business at Port Canaveral for summers of 2016 and 2017. This is what the OP was questioning. The subject of the thread was what was Carnival doing in PC in 2016. I gave the answer, short and simple. Sorry you do not like the answer. It is what it is.

  15. This is so not true. John Heald announced that there will be "Magical" news for Port Canaveral, so it's pretty much going to be the Magic that is relocating to Port Canaveral. Therefore, that newspaper is just a rumor.

Rumor? It came from the Port Director. If you are capable, read it for yourself in the Florida Today news online. Here, I will attempt to make it easier for you.
