  1. I've spent hundreds of dollars on Alaska Jack candy bars. :) There are also other brands. Everyone seemed to like them, and some got where they would request their favorites.

What are these like? Chocolate? Peanuts?

  2. Thanks for the quick response and great information. No, there is no medal for survival. As you can see by my signature we are Disney fans so we visit the parks commando style (as in full speed ahead, not sans undies) so completing the visits will be the rewards.

We have not yet discussed places to eat, so you suggestions have automatically moved to the top of the list.

    Thanks again!

  3. I am the ringleader of a party of 11 that are going to Alaska in June. We will arrive on Seattle on Saturday, June 6th, and I've got some temporary plans that I wanted to share and ask for you advice.

We will not have an automobile so will using public transportation instead. Our hotel is the Crown Plaza SeaTac. We are buying the Seattle CityPass to visit most of the attractions.

    Saturday June 6th, Travel Day

Sunday Use Link Light Rail to go to Pike Place Market, Great Wheel, Aquarium, and Argosy Boat tour. Return to hotel via Link Light Rail.

Monday use Link Light Rail and Monorail to visit Space Needle (morning and night visits) Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum and the EMP Museum (MUST see the Star Wars exhibit!!!). Return to hotel via Link Light Rail/Monorail.

So, does this schedule look doable and am I correct in our modes of transportation? I have looked at the schedule for the Train, and I am not sure which stops I would use. Of course the destination areas are listed but I don't see where it provides what is at each stop. So what are the locations I would be looking for. I am a tourist, but I don't want to LOOK like a tourist!

  4. I've looked and printed the walking tour map from the Cruise Ogden Point site for Victoria, and the walking tour looks very doable.

We have early sitting so we our meal will begin at 6:00 If we are scheduled to dock at 7:30 and to not miss a minute, don't you think we should forget about eating in the MDR and be ready to leave the ship at the first opportunity?

  5. We have our first Alaska cruise coming up on June 9th on the Legend. This site has provided SOOOO much information and I've learned a lot from reading them.

But still I have some more questions if you learned folks could help:

The thread "Views while sailing Alaska" gave great information and I'm going to purchase the book mentioned by mapleleaves, but I was wondering, what we can expect to see as we sail from Seattle to Tracy Arm, which is our first "stop". Will we be in open watter and too far from land to see much. Whales? Budget Queen, I know that in that thread you asked for what side of the ship the posters were on before responding. We have an Aft balcony, if that helps.

We are only in Victoria BC for a short, SHORT time, 4 hours and those are at night. Realistically, what can we see or do in such a short period?

  6. I know that there are no two identical guests or trips, so I realize there will different replies, but let me give some details. We have a June 9th sailing on the Legend out of Seattle. In our party of eleven will be all ages from 12 to 85.

At our Easter lunch today I had a cousin who stressed how rough the first days were. She traveled in August so again her experience would be different.

I'm the "tour planner" for our group so what do you think we can expect so I can share with others. I have never had a problem with seasickness but my MIL can have vertigo and is now getting nervous as to what to expect.

Also do most of you prefer medication or patches? Which days ,Igbo we expect to be the worst? I'm thinking the first day and a half before our first stop
