  1. Hi

again I am sorry I used the word charter. I did not mean to use that word. It was a mistake when I posted my appolgy. I was looking to book a cruise in the first month of 2015. I MADE A MISTAKE IT NOT A CHARTER> its a group I refuse to talk about this any more. Can we just drop it. It will never happen again.

  2. Hi

I did prank anyone I want to take a cruise in January or Feburary I looked at and loved it. until I saw the cruise it was chartered. I was simplly warning people on this cruise. But you can be assured it will be my last time posting a warning. I have heard from cruise crew that many of these cruises have lots of bottles of booze in thier state room. I have also read many times posts on these boards the Christian cruises do not have booze or gambling on those ships and the pax pay a much higher price because of it. So I will not take a chance on this cruise, I like a glass of wine with dinner and then a drinks at happy hours.. Just one question do you have the beverage package on this ship? A large grouo can take over a ship. I am a Christian

  3. hi

I love the sea . I love watching the sea go by and day dreaming what is was like 200, 600 1000 years ago. I loove walking around the promenade deck or other deck watching the sea go by. If I see something a whale or something other its a plus. having a movie blasting in background would ruin my cruise. If I want to see a movie I will go see it at home. I hardly spend any time in my cabin I want to watch the sea. That is why I cruise. Not sure how I would feel on longer cruises. but I want to be on deck watching and hoping I might see something. During my cruise to Pamana I would wake up in middle of night and sit on on my balcony (my first one) Keep the door closed and just sit on it listing to how wonderful it was. The waves hitting the ship was so peaceful. If they put these stupid big screen (old drive inplaces) movies on a Hal ship I will find someplace

  4. Hi

My last cruise June-July wwhen we sailed out of Seattle a Princess ship was beside us and movie screen was on.. The weather was nice and the mountain was out in all her glory. I can't imanage sailing Alaska and watching a mmovie indoors or even outdoor when there is so much to see off the ship. But thats me

I also could hear the noise froom that big ugly drive in

  5. Hi

I am 68 and I have never had a cup of coffee.. But having cruised the last 4 years My bill for the last 4 cruises would have gotten mr another cruise or two and I am a solo. I buy the wine package and visit the happy hours with a nice scotch/Irish wiskey.. Look at the cost of living here in US and the exchange rate.. Do Hal staff a favor stay away from HAl and you can save the few hundred dollars that you will save from stiffing the best crew in the world. I will not look at other ships because of the HAl staff. I beeen on some of those ships

  6. Hi

Would not be happy with this program.

Just wondering how many people do not order a bottle of wine for dinner. I always order a bottle usually drink two glasses and save it for next night.

I also like a scotch/wiskey at happy hour. this way not work for me.

I stop drinking soda and do not drink coffee.

So this would be a bust for me.

  7. It rained a lot early in the day. The cloud cover was so quick that one could not even see the top of the Mt. Roberts Tramway. Righ now it is 7:40PM and the sun is out in all its glory. Stopped to see my friends at the Alaskan Fudge Compay and got fudge for some people at home. (Really!) Had a nice visit with Blue and Scott. Blue and Deb were not in today. I think I have been stopping in there since 1997.

I also walked up to the Cathedral of the Naitivity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is just east of the Orthodox Cathedral. It is a good walk and I need the exercise. I also purchased a couple of shirts at the Alaskan Shirt Store across from the ship. The shops on board now have liscense plate holders that say "My other car is a DAM ship." I am thinking of buying one but I have a lot of time to do it.

I wish you all were up here. Life is good!

Father are you saying you did not buy amy fudge for your self?? How much of that fudge fudge is left thay you bought.4

  8. Yes, the trains in the "corridor" (Windsor-Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal-Quebec) tend to run on time or close to it. Unfortunately, the on-time operation of the "Canadian" (the Toronto-Vancouver train) is very poor. In almost all cases it is the fault of Canadian National, the owner of most of the tracks over which VIA Rail operates. I have been on a train more than once that has sat in a siding for two hours, seemingly just in case a freight train might be nearby. My last trip on this train was from Vancouver to Toronto in late March. It arrived 15 hours late. For me this was no problem as I was (barely) able to catch the last commuter train of the night at 12:45 a.m. Others were not so lucky. I was travelling on VIA Preference points and because the delay was over 12 hours they gave me back all my points. The Canadian is a splendid train with comfortable beds, excellent food and service and I ride it every year. Arrival in both Toronto and Vancouver is scheduled as 9:30 a.m. and 9:42 a.m. respectively, but I would strongly suggest that no plans of any sort be booked for the day of arrival.

Next May we are taking a HAL cruise to Alaska, departing Vancouver on a Saturday. The "Canadian" is due in that morning but there is no way I would chance it. At that time of year the train runs three times a week, so to go by train we would have to depart Toronto a week before the cruise and arrive in Vancouver three days (in theory) before the cruise. So we will fly this time. We may take the train back to Toronto as it doesn't matter what day we arrive.

Our first cruise to Alaska was in 1972. We took the train to Vancouver - it was only a three night trip then, as opposed to four nights now - and made a same-day connection with the ship. Both the train and the ship were Canadian Pacific operations, so it didn't seem risky.

  9. Questions? I didn't know there was going to be a test! I didn't study!

I went to Verizon.net, which got me to my usual sign-in page (the one I get on my laptop at home). When I signed in, it recognized me, but listed my location as New Jersey. At home it recognizes my hometown. It was strange to be in the South Pacific and see NJ!

yes there was a test and you missed it. Every one got Chocolate

  12. Hi I have to both breakfast on Amsterdam.

One I sat down (solo) a couple sat across from me. Very nice couple. They way they spoke and llok I knew they had to be Dutch and they had dutch names. Another couple joined us (American) So the American asks if he was German. I almost choked on mt pancakes. The man answered No we are from Holland. Well this jerk said back oh they all the same Germens and Datch.. With that the poor dutch man replys Germany invaded Holland. American says back Oh that was a long time ago you should forget about that. The man from Holland came back with some remarks one being when your country is invaded lets see how long you remember it. I excused my self.

One I sat at a table for 6. this was 2nd day of cruise. A woman from England was screaming at any waiter that looked her way. During the meal he tea was not hot enough and every a new pot was delieved to her it was not hot. She would raise her voice. He eggs were not right.. her toast was not right everything they brought her resulted in a scream. Nothing they did or brought was good enough. She was rude and loud. It was my last time in the MDR for Breakfast I used room service.

  13. Hi

I live in Mass the wait staff get 2.64 he. that is inaulting O always leave 20 0/0.. On cruise ship. I usuakky go to crows nest for hapy hr at 4 and 11. I am always greated with Hi Ms Mary and a smile this starts on 2nd night of cruise..

I will tip extra. Amsterdam 24 days to Alaska.

On my cruise I spent all my time in Ocean bar the service was great and staff outstanding. I saw a wine steward and asked him did he know what the menu was for dinner that night. He said he did not. Less than 5 minutes later I had a menu. that staaff was great. one night they had a black and white ball. (I think that is what is was called. I fell asleep up in crows nest. (late seating) I wroke up to the band setting up in front of me So I moved. As I was a solo I had no one to dance with. There were lots of officers there and the beverage manager who was always in the Ocean bar asked me to dance. I felt like a teenage again being asked for her first dance. (Zuirderdam) Panama Canal

I think all the servers deserved a tip

I did not notice on my last cruise when I tip extra to the bar staff those at bar just put the cash on the bar the staff walking around helt it and walked to bar and put it down. I am not weathly by any means and live on a small pension and ss. But is someone is nice to me they get my attention. It can be a smill or just hi Mary or even have my drink ready before i Find a seat
