    just beiing in the beautiful water and thinkiiiiiiiiiiiiiing that its freezing snowing and terrible back home in Boston I will jsy want to sit in the water. Don't reallt care about the other stuff on Island

    This was just our third cruise (all on HAL) but on the other two cruises (Alaska & Panama Canal) the captain had a book signing and I was looking forward to that on this cruise but I never saw one on the daily schedule.

    this was my 3rd Amsterdam 14 day cruise in last 4 years and I did Zuiderdam panama in November. The Capitian on the Zuiderdam was everywhere on the ship. Greating passengers and having there photo's taken with them. Never saw this on the Amsterdam and I LOVE the Amsterdam. My last cruise on Amsterdam June 22. the only officers I saw was Jr ones who came to the meet and great. The Cappitian send the cd to the Marinier luncheon when the cruise was almost over.

    No kettle?

    It boggles my mind that people fell its of to bring items on board they know is banned. They must have that strip to recharge thier toys. even though they know they can get one at the front desk.

     

    Now people want to bring kettles for hot tea. The don't care if there item might cause a fire. So a recharged strip or tea kittle or any other item that is banned they don't care.

     

    So of a fire does break out because people bring these items are brought on board.. Innocent people will be hurt or be on news about another ship in trouble.

     

    I do hope if there is a fire I hope these ships will bring these thoughless people who do not care about thier fellow passengers.

     

    Is that cup of tea worth it

    Car service in Seattle?

    All ready car service is wonderful. they pick you up out side the luggage gate.

    Charlotte is wonderful as are here drivers.. Just used them this past june. foget a bus , forget a taxi. I used them from Airport to hotel. Then Hotel to pier. Then pier to hotel near airport a and my roomate used it the next day as I was flying home to east coast. she went to train station.

     

    Its all no worry service. you call them when you arrive and they are there in a few minutes.

    At pier after cruise You call and they are there in a few minutes while others are waiting in long lines for a taxi. or a bus waiting for the bus to fill up and it will cost more if more than one.

    My 2nd report is comming. Its to bad many of the cc did not get together mmore offton. I had late seating and wonderfulful tablemates, now it we were always the last to leave and chatted with the crew many times except when I saw a sunse about to star and I left. I met a few womwn aat the crows nest at 11-12 for happy hr and dancing. I went there every night. Some nights were better than others. When I was on the Zuriderdam in November they had officers one night ti dance with solo women. As I said the only officers I met were aat the meet and greet. I never saw one after that. I did feel insulted when the cd told us he was to busy to attended the mariniers lunch that was held the last days of cruice. Maybe I had not been on the Zuiderdan last November where the Captian was always available. I saw him every where talking to the passengers and listening to them. Also the Officers were always visable. Not so on my beloved Amsterdam.. The crew on Amsterdam or any HAl ship makes me keepinig back to HAl

    I made my very first stop in Haines yesterday. it is a very Alaskan type place with out the hype you get in some ports. I walked up to the port and took the free bus around town. Weather was gorgous and I ran into the Second Sister and Middle Aged Mom on the Dock. Both are good people. Am in Juneau today and vistited the Dog meorial and the USS Juneau meorial which is back up but on the dock a little fatther down from where we dock. Also stopped to see my friend Blue at the Alaskan Fudge Company on Franklin Street in Juneau.

     

    glad you are have good weather but Father come on you want us to believe you stopped to see Blue and not the fudge..

    I love HMC when I was there last November. I rather stay there longer and skip one of the other ports. I was swimmingthere could not find the beach in other ports and did not want to go alone to them HMC was perfect

     

    MaryLast year we arrived at 8 and left at 2 pm.. Be happy to skip any port after that

    We were suppose to have been on this cruise but cancelled it. Maybe we made the right decision?? Really don't know.

    Enjoyed Part 1 and looking forward to Part 2.

     

    Oh no

    these were only minor things. The reason I metioned the kids was the fact a small boy almost drowed in a pool a few months ago. I was concered that these 3 boys were always in the pool and hot tub. They are not allowed in hot tub. We know that the servers (bar) cannot stop them A officer should be there. I Never saw one officer during the who cruise except the jr ones at the CC meet and great. I loved the food. The service was wonderful as usual and my third time was just as great as the first one. I did notice lack of wine stewards I think there were just two in the upper MDR. I just would not be happy to see a child injured on a cruise because lack of parents judgement. the boy I saw running full speed on stairway was on the 2nd to last night of cruise. His family was a table away from me. I aam sure his mother did not know this was happening. I would bet money on it. I am sure she she thought he was in the HAl club. They were perfect children in dinning room. I kinda felt sorry for him at dinner as all of the wait staff dotted on his little sister (4 or 5) and really ignored him. All the staff including men in charge of dinning room

    could not do enough for this little girl. It did not effect service in fact it was fun watching them entertain her. Our waiter had a little girl same age.

     

    But the cruise just as wonderful.

    May of 2010 was the very first of those 14 day sailings, done on the Amsterdam twice a month through early September. There were none one summer, 2012 or 2013? And just a couple the other summers. That is why people are concerned that HAL will discontinue them again.

     

    I was on the Amsterdam for two week cruise in2011 and 2012 it di not run the 2 week cruise in 2913

    Please why do you have to wear baseball caps or what ever you call them EVERYWHERE? do you sleep with them on? It drives me nuts to see these stupid caps on in the MDR. Do you wear them to church? furneral, weddinings, work. Its just not young people its older men now rearing them. Can you leave them in your cabin for a hour or two why you eat. I saw men in the mdr with them on.

    I won't dress up to eat, and don't care how others dress when they eat, but I just want to say this is my favorite dress-up look for any man, especially one who's got a few years under his belt. I'm sure your DH looks great!

     

    so you refuse to follow the rules? What do you wear to a wedding? wake and furneral? Jeans shorts, I don't care what you wear but have some respect to those in MDR on formal night.. Read the rules eat in the Lido.

     

     

     

    I wonder what would happen if more people like you refuse to follow the rules and put my life in jeapardy just because you wanted it your way

    No problem at all> I was just wondering if I was nip picking. I really enjoyed the cruise. I don't know If I got off on a bad start and my cabin mate and friend for 18 years fell on my front stairs and badly sprianed her ankle. Keeping us in a hotel room in Seattle for 5 days.

     

    I really love the Amsterdam. The food I thought was very good. I am happy someone else saw the boys running amoke on this cruise. Its really ashame as they could have hurt someone. I did mention it in the survey.

     

    Officers were hidden during this cruise. I did not believe the Captain was so busy for the mariners lunch the cd was the one.. NOT ONE Officer could attend.

     

    Fire alarms at 9 am on sea days? Twice.

     

    When on the Zuiderdam that had a dance up on crows nests Officers ask the solo girls to dance. The captian was every where on deck for any pictured, questions, complaintants.

     

    But these were all a bit of a pain.

     

    Ohh if you have not booked the crab boat tour DO it. I though is would be boring and silly. It was wonderful. But its a very long walk from where the ship dock and where you get on the boat. The should have a shuttle..

     

    IN Victoria Skip the bus. Its only 10 for a taxi (not per person) He said he would take us on a tour of city for 30.00
