  1. I am on the Pride on 6/18 with a friend who qualified for the Premier cruise, which we booked under. We both bought the Carnival insurance.

She is having medical issues at the moment, and may not be able to go. Do we have options other than invoking the insurance to cancel us both?

    • Since it is a premier offer, could we re-book on a later cruise?
    • Can we cancel her and I still go, using the insurance to make up any difference since there would no longer be a premier offer holder in the cabin?
    • Can I show up without her and still go? Would she then be able to get her $$ back via the insurance?

I am not bothered by not having the premier benefits if I were to go without her. I have even contemplated if my budget would allow me to reimburse her costs out of my pocket (taxes fees etc).

I am really looking for anyone who might have been in this situation previously to chime in. Thanks in advance.

  2. Like I said maybe they haven't updated it for currently booked cruises. The info I posted is just from Carnival's website and it shows the new, higher price. I didn't try it in an active booking.

That is probably the difference, whether you have an active booking. I would say if you are on the fence, go check NOW before they update those too LOL.

  3. The best advice in this thread is "Know thyself"! I don't think I'm an over packer, but I don't pack light either. I do use almost everything I take.

I have a friend that cruises who talks about how her kids leave clothes etc everywhere, and how neat it is once the cabin steward cleans. I would DIE if they had to pick up my stuff like that. With all the hype about getting your cabin cleaned once or twice a day, I am confident it won't be hard to clean mine twice.

I use an over the door organizer, mostly to keep counter-top clutter contained. We put sign and sails, sun screen, cameras, sunglasses in ours. I like the pop up hamper for the closet, rather than constantly going to the suitcase under the bed. We budget to send at least one bag of laundry with shorts/tshirts/underwear type stuff each cruise.

Paperwork goes into an accordion file I bring daily. Cash is brought in envelopes labeled for their purpose (e.g. Room Service $14 (with 14 ones), Grand Turk Excursion Tip $20 (two tens)) which all go in the safe -- I can simply grab the envelope needed for the moment rather than constantly counting out the funds.

I usually bring 3-5 pairs of shoes. Athletic, closed toe shoes. Birkenstock sandals. One pair of nicer sandals for formal nights. An extra pair of birks and crocs. Again, I wear them all.

I have never brought a highlighter. I use clothespins every time. I need to add magnetic hooks/clips to my "gear".

Other than my suitcase under the bed, maybe an item or two on hooks in the room, all of my stuff stays put away in the closets and drawers. Bring what makes you happy!

  4. As of 10 minutes ago, Bottomless Bubbles is still showing as $6.50/day when I look at buying it for one of my cruises. Fortunately, I had already paid for the two of our group that needed it.

I did go ahead and purchase my Cheers just in case that is next. For once, it paid to plan ahead!

  5. I'm on a cruise (Carnival Magic) for July 2 - 8, 2017 (6-Night Cruise out of Port Canaveral, Port of Calls: Nassau, Amber Cove, Grand Turn). Are the schedules that are published in the Fun Times available for that cruise prior to the Sail date, or only each evening of the following day? I'm trying to plan our activities on the boat with other family units joining us on the cruise and it would be helpful to have that info ahead of time. Haven't been able to find any links to it.

Any help or comments are appreciated.

Have you joined the roll call? Once you board, the Carnival Hub app will show you the fun times for the whole cruise.

  6. Best one ever was a drunk who was racing back to the ship and ran straight into a dumpster -- FACE PLANT.

I like to listen for the announcement after the all aboard time "Will Mr & Mrs Smith please call guest services?" Usually lets you know how many we are waiting on.

I've never seen anyone left behind though.

  7. At that age (they are now 16 and 20) my kids had freedom of the Lido Deck and the Promenade. I had to have an idea of where they were. I based it on my knowledge of their maturity. While I am aware that there are "perverts among us", I felt OK with them being in such a public area outside of my immediate supervision.

IMHO, as long as you & your kids are comfortable with the boundaries you set, it's up to you to make the decision.

  8. Sailed with Carnival 7 times, three other cruises, only missed two ports, both on the same cruise.

    Port: Belize

    Ship: Carnival Pride

    Date: 11/26/14

    Reason: Rough seas/wind

Our ship was LISTING that morning. I wasn't sorry we cancelled, although I was sorry to miss Belize.

    Port: Grand Cayman

    Ship: Carnival Pride

    Date: 11/28/14

    Reason: Rough Seas Wind

The told us the night before as we sailed late from Roatan in the pouring rain that we would miss GC. They substituted Costa Maya instead. For those who have asked, our shore excursions were refunded within a day to our sign and sail accounts.

Both of these were tender ports. We met folks at Roatan who missed Cozumel the day we were there because they had to tender in. It was not a great week for weather.
